A lockoff is a 2 bedroom unit where the second bedroom has a lockable door and its own outside door. These units can be also sold separately as a 1BR and a studio.

You may also see the term dedicated 2BR which is the exact opposite. It is a 2BR in which there is no lockable door between the 1BR and studio and is therefore always booked as a 2BR.

Just to clarify further, the 2nd B/R door does not connect directly to the bedroom of a 1-B/R villa. It connects to the Living Room of a 1-b/r villa.

Unlike a hotel room with connecting doors, think of DVC villas as a Living Room/Kitchen area, with the single B/R on one side, and the 2nd B/R (or lockoff Studio) on the other side.
