What is 1 unpopular opinion on Exercise/Fitness you have?

Draw up a business model. I want to be a silent partner.
Working on it. You can be a silent partner most of the time, but sometimes you'll have to participate in the camp itself. The good jobs: riding the ECVs at a tick above standstill position or at warp speed; pushing a double stroller with one hand while holding a coffee in the other while NOT looking in the direction of travel; or being that person the food line who, instead of deciding what to order during the 10 minute wait before the register, decides to slowly mull over all the infinite possibilities only after having reached the front of the line. Payment method is to be placed at the very bottom of your purse or bag for slower extraction measures, or better yet - wallet left behind at the hotel, and MB is useless because they forgot their PIN.

Many other moonlighting jobs to be had!

Remember to hire people to shout random names from a distance. Also groups playing a game where they try to spread out as wide as possible-matching tshirts preferred. ;)

If someone's normal level of exercise involves not much more than walking to the car and carrying laundry upstairs, then yes, walking 2 miles a day for 3 weeks will help prepare for Disney. Will it fully prepare them? No, but it will help.

My (probably not) unpopular opinion is that sending out misinformed messages and not taking into account people's starting point is discouraging to those trying to make a positive change in their lives and should be avoided.

I admire your passive aggressiveness in your second paragraph, but I think you've misunderstood my point. I've said repeatedly that any exercise is good exercise. Not sure how else I can be clear on that. I'm not saying, implying or otherwise that people shouldn't try to make a positive change. I absolutely LOVE hearing about it and seeing it. Not to get sidetracked, but I as much as I am not a fan of "reality TV", I used to love Biggest Loser because I loved the stories of people making that change. I wish the show would come back. I wholeheartedly agree that the "starting point" is very much to be considered. I couldn't agree more. Just like people don't get out of shape overnight, you can't get into shape overnight. It's one step at a time (literally), and one day at a time.

As far as WDW goes, my opinion, and you're welcome to disagree, is that if you're really out of shape taking a short walk for a little while before a WDW trip really isn't going to do a lot. A 2 mile walk might take 30 minutes, then you're done. A day at WDW may involve 8 miles of walking over a 7 hour period. When you're not walking, you may be standing up, so that has to be considered too. So I feel it's apples and oranges. Again, does any physical exercise help? Not sure how else to be as clear as I can be...yes, yes, yes, yes, yes. Do it, do it, do it, do it, do it. However, I just don't think it's realistic to expect that to make a huge difference in a week long WDW trip. You're welcome to disagree. But a thousand times yes, make a positive change, if you're "out of shape", any time is a good time to start.

How do you prepare for WDW? I don't really know there is a true way to totally prepare. Walking 8 miles per day and standing that long for days on end is something most of us (myself included) don't do on a regular basis. So unless it's your normal lifestyle, I think it's going to be tough on most people. I know it kicks my butt.

But your statement was "walking 2 miles a day around your block at home for three weeks before a WDW trip really doesn't do a lot for you in 'preparing' for the walking you do." I think something like that could easily discourage someone reading who might have been considering just that. I honestly believe that you didn't mean to do that; I'm just pointing out how that could be misinterpreted by someone, especially people who don't necessarily follow every post someone makes in a thread. :)

Fair enough. I was actually in the middle of editing my post when you posted because I rambled on unnecessarily, but I'll leave it as is. It isn't, and never was, my intent to say people shouldn't try and shouldn't take a walk. I just don't think people should have unrealistic expectations of what it will do.
