What If

Hi all,

Well, I'm down to 30 hrs before departure and I'm sooooooooooo excited! I want to say thanks to everyone for the info that is here because it has been so helpful for my planning efforts.

What remains is a bad case of the "what ifs" as I plan my romantic getaway! Please respond to me as soon as possible because I wont have much time to check between now and my departure! I know I'm a worry wart but I'm just nervous after reading some posts about cleanliness and travel issues at POR. Feel free to indulge me...

1) What if I get to POR and it is a disaster? For example, what if my room is not clean and theres moldy yellow stuff in my bathroom? What if the room does not feel right? What do I need to say to the front desk... I'd certainly appreciate anyone's advice (especially anybody whose worked in the hotels before who might have an opinion on how best to handle the situation!)

2) Maybe the bus service will not be as bad as I have read about. But what if the buses are constantly difficult to get? Is Epcot far? Could I just walk there and take a monorail or a bus from Epcot to another park? Is there another resort nearby that has a better bus system and could we simply walk there instead?

3) Are there ever upgrades? Is it possible that if things aren't working out there after a few days that I can go and tell the staff that I'm unhappy with my room/hotel and the resulting Disney experience?

I'm hoping POR is as romantic and wonderful as I've read in so many posts. But, just in case, I want to know that I have a backup plan and some words already worked out in my head to ensure the best possible anniversary!

Thank you again for all the great info...

If you are not happy with the resort I would transfer to another resort ASAP. I have a friend who made reservations at the Contemporary and when they checked in were very unhappy with the room and the location. They were able to change to the BC for a relatively small increase in price. They werre happier in the BC.

Hi! You must be so excited to be leaving so soon.:D

1. If you don't like your room, politely call the front desk and ask if it would be possible to move. Simply state that there is mold, dirt, or whatever it is that you are not satisfied with.

2. You can't walk to Epcot from POR. It is not in walking distance to any theme park. If you are totally relying on bus service, you just have to be patient if they aren't running as fast as you would like. Just relax! You are in WDW. I bet everything works out as planned.

3. I would state my concerns with the room early on. They can move you to another room if one is available. They may upgrade your room upon arrival. Don't expect it though, so you are not disappointed.

Post all the details when you get back! Have a magical trip!:bounce:

My advice is to take a DEEP BREATH and quit worrying! No sense worrying about things that are unlikely to happen ! You'll make yourself crazy! :D

Everything will be just fine! Make sure to take the time to appreciate everything (and especially your spouse) while you are there.

Congratulations on your anniversary and QUIT WORRYING!

Relax! It's going to be great! We just returned on Saturday from two weeks in the World. We stayed at FW, Swan and POR and guess which hotel was our favorite - POR!!!

I did not expect the least expensive hotel to be our favorite but we just loved it! I am confident you will have a fabulous time!

LionPrincess:

My first advice is to relax!

We've stayed at POR many times and we love it there.

We've never had a problem with a room, but if you do, just call the front desk before you unpack a thing and they'll take care of it. If the room is not clean or something isn't working properly, they'll move you. The rooms are pretty much all the same except for location. If you are really unhappy with the location, again call the front desk. We've found that location is not that much of big deal, because we're not in the room very much. Just be pleasant and explain the problem.

Because POR is so large, there are several bus stops and this can take a little longer for the buses to get around, but this is not necessarily unique to POR. For example, when you stay at the Boardwalk, you share your busses with Y&BC, Swan & Dolphin. So we just relax and enjoy the ride. It gives you a chance to see all the disney property.

If you go with a positive attitude, you won't even notice the little things that might bother you at home. The pixie dust will take over and you'll have a wonderful time!

We just loved everything about POR. So, I will only say to you the same thing I say to my teenage children - Don't spend so much negative energy on things worrying. Especially about things that may never happen. Deal with each situation as it happens and remain positive. If you continually think of the "what if's", you will set yourself up for some type of disappointment. Enjoy, your trip. I hope you enjoy and relax. We had a ball there - but hey, I didn't worry too much, I was on vacation after all. :D :D
