What if I need 1 point??

What can I do if I am 1 point shy of booking the vacation I want? I'm new at all this, and haven't looked at the rent/trade board, but is there a way to buy (or rent) 1 point from someone? Is that silly?

I'd do a transfer with another member, at $10 for the point(or you could borrow 1 point if you have it). Just advertise, someone will help.

That sounds reasonable. Will there be someone who wants to transfer just 1 point, tho? Or is it usually done in larger amounts?

I'm not sure how new you are, but have you trued to borrow from your next year's allotment? It is allowed and would be easiest.

Well, this would be a situation where I borrow my next use year's points and still need 1 point to do what I want when I want. It's nothing definite, yet, but could happen next year. That's why I was wondering.....

In our second year of ownership, we ended up with 12 points that had already been banked that we couldn't use before they expired. I wish I could have found someone who only needed a few points! I'm sure there are other members that end up in similar situations.

Last year a DVC member friend had 20 points she couldn't use that were expiring...and offered them to us. We used some for a night in HH (if I hadn't been hugely pregnant at the time, we probably would have gone to WDW and got a studio for more than one night....) but she still had a few left over.

My point is....a few spare points here and there seem to happen to people fairly often. And as you see already, those who have them are usually very willing to help out a fellow member.

Should our vacation plans go off without a hitch, I'll have one point that will get "wasted" in 2005. It happens. We will have 176 points available (banked, plus the years points), need 175 for the trip, and not want to take another trip until 2007.

When I have it, I'll post it available for transfer. I'm sure someone will be able to make some use out of it.

I recently "bought" points from someone for a ressie I am going to make at the end of next week. I was short 6 points, and actually had several people who were kind enough to offer points for OKW, so I will be able to reserve that grande villa next year! I am SO excited!!
