What (if any) type of proof is needed for wheelchair?

Hi,
Our 9 yr. old DS has Sever's Disease, more commonly known as heal plates. When it acts up, he can hardly walk

We're going to Disney in May, and are seriously thinking of renting a wheelchair for him if his pain is too much to handle.

I'd like to know if any proof of a medical condition is required to rent a wheelchair?

There is no requirement for any documentation.

However, I would recommend contacting one of the off-site companies and rent from them. You will be able to discuss your son's size and weight and get a wheelchair that will fit him better than a general rental from Disney.

I'm not sure about wheelchair policies, but I know all (except Randy's which requires you to be present) will deliver an ECV to your hotel bell services prior to your scheduled arrival and pick it up after your scheduled departure.

Just agreeing with what Cheshire Figment posted.
Some posters have indicated they have seen child-size wheelchairs from WDW resorts, but I don't think there are large numbers of these.
If you don't rent a wheelchair and finds he needs one after arriving at the park, he should fit in the largest size of WDW park strollers. Several WDW CMs have written that the largest size will fit up to a small 12 year and I have seen some pretty large kids in strollers.
If he needs the stroller in lines, you can request a card at Guest Services that would allow the stroller to be used as a wheelchair (go in lines where strollers are usually not allowed). This card is not needed if he can walk in lines or if you use a wheelchair.
