What I find interesting about the female "face" characters...

"Face" characters, of course, being those that don't require the big heads...

The women they have as the various characters (this applies to the WDW theme parks, but it also applies to the Adventurers' Club and Universal as well) all tend to look really good. It's rather odd...even under prosthetic noses and the like, you can tell that these women are beautiful.

Has anybody found this rather unusual...not in a bad way, but in a good way?

Sincerely,

John "anotherboardnposter" Kilduff...

You can fill in "male" for "female" if you like.

Disney is very picky about who they hire as face characters. I've been to an audition. It's like a police line up- they just look at you and decide if you fit the look of the character.

Well, I dunno. . . some of the other characters are rather good looking too! Daisy Duck is very pretty and Minnie Mouse is gorgeous! :teeth:

Some years ago, I took pictures when a very attractive young man actually swept Minnie up in his arms (like a groom about to carry a bride over the threshold). Mickey saw this and came over, put his hands on his hips, and then shook his finger at the young man. When the young man put Minnie down, Mickey took Minnie's hand then led Minnie away. It was hilarious! :teeth: :teeth:

I don't know about that. The last couple times I've seen Jasmine she had a moustache!

Princesses

Check out this picture of Cinderella, Belle and Jasmine take two years ago - I think they are beautiful . . . nice too.

I agree for the most part but I think some must be harder to find than others. I would swear we had Mulan's Grandmother not Mulan at our Princess Breakfast:p

We have a picture with a Sleeping Beauty who may be the prettiest girl I've ever seen. A couple of years ago we met an absolutely gorgeous Mary Poppins.

We did run across a, dare I say it, almost ugly Cinderella... I was shocked! My DD (6) walked away saying "mommy, she didn't look ANYTHING like Cinderella!"

Most of them I agree are attractive. We had a picture of DH with Belle that he would not let me put in the picture album though because he said she was ugly.

Most of the princesses we have met have been very young, sweet and pretty. Ariel one year was so wonderful with my kids and a pretty girl. When we were at WDW in December one year, we met Sleeping Beauty at CRT and DH and I both thought she looked at least 40. (Not that being 40 is a bad thing. It was just strange when all the other princesses were in their early 20's.)

It seemed to me though that even though the movies don't really depict one "Princess" as looking much different for another except for hair color the face characters have specifice traits.

Cinderella- Classic model-like beauty
Sleaping Beauty- Big Dimples
Snow White - plumper than all the rest
Mulan- young
Mary Poppins- pale
Belle - girl next door

I haven't seen any princesses that I thought were homely. But I must say, Ariel is supposed to be what, 16? in the movie, and I swear the Ariel that is in the Share a Dream Come True parade is at least 30! She's pretty enough, but......? I think a younger woman would be better for the role.

I'd really like to know how many different people play the same character? Like how many Cinderella's are there? How many Aurora's? And is there one role that is coveted among the CM's the most? Like is it considered a real "coup" to be Cinderella?

I haven't seen an ugly princess yet. They all look great to me. What I always wonder is how many of them are really blondes, but wearing a black Snow White wig? Or brunettes wearing a blond Cinderella wig? They all look so "right" with the wig hair color.

I hear the girls under the big heads are even prettier. anotherboardnposter, next time your in WDW, ask Donald if you can take a look inside "his" beak.

BTW, BluOrchid2, has anyone ever told you you a lot like Kelly Preston aka Mrs. John Travolta?

I have a picture of Alice in the parade and I swear it looks like a man. Let me try to find it this evening and post it. It is awful!

On 2 different occasions (once at DL, once at WDW) we have seen the same girl playing 2 different princesses. I was so sure my DD would notice, but she never did. On our KTTK tour, we were taken to the wig room and got to see Jasmine getting her hair put on and various wigs for the princesses.

I've never met a Princess that didn't look pretty. They've always been beautiful and sweet. Even some of the female face villains I've seen like the Queen, Malificent, and Cruella (well, most of the Cruellas) have been beautiful as well.

One of DD's suitemates from college is a Cinderella right now. She said the audition process was brutal, many women left in tears. She said it was like angiebelle said, a police lineup--"You're too heavy, too tall, too short, not pretty enough, ect......."

The Snow White at Epcot is probably one of the most beautiful young women I have ever seen. I figure if she looks that good in that black wig, she must be absolutely gorgeous out of it!

I know that none of the face characters have "lines" on their faces, so look very closely at the Fairy Godmother, and you can tell just how young the person is that is portraying her.

I have been disappointed with Aurora. I have never seen that character portrayed that looked at all like Aurora in Sleeping Beauty... of course, the wig doesn't help... it is probably one of the worst of all of the face character wigs that they have.

I have never seen an ugly princess, or any other face character, for that matter. Alice at 1900 Park Faire is the spitting image, as is Mary Poppins. Bert cuts a nice figure, too, as does Aladdin and Shan. I have yet to see Mulan up close, but Jasmine has been very pretty, as has Cinderella.

Interesting question posed above... what is the most coveted face character????
