Well, you could visit your favorite restaraunt like any other off-site guest. You could also probably take a walk around your "home" resort. If it's Boardwalk, you could enjoy the Boardwalk side shows and any other guest visiting. If it's OKW, perhaps you could play a round of golf at off-site rates. At WL, a nice meal may help remind you of the wise investment you made.
But, using the pool, or exercise facilities would be unfair to those guests currently staying on points. When you are staying on points, you wouldn't want the pool so crowded by locals or non-paying "drop-ins" that you couldn't use it, couldn't find a chair, didn't have any towels, couldn't get any pool side drinks, etc. would you? Your ownership is for the period of time you are actually using your points. It really kind of makes sense when you think about it, doesn't it? It's not a year round membership to a country club. I'm sure country club style memberships are available at other Orlando locations if your interested, maybe those would be more suitable to your needs. I don't have a good source of contact on a local country club, perhaps someone else could offer comparative information, and we could share it here for
DVC guests who are interested in year round access as well as some inconsiderate locals (yourself excluded of course, your just asking a question) who seem to just drop in and use the Disney pools without paying when they want. These inconsiderate local freeloaders may be a contributing factor to DVC members loosing our pool hopping priviledges.
