What home resort facilities can members use.....

A DVC member who stays off-site has the same access to "home resort facilities" as anyone else who stays off-site.

For example, an OKW/DVC member who stays at Motel 6 in Kissimmee has no more access to the OKW pool, programs, or other benefits than anyone else staying at that Motel 6.

So even though I own a piece of OKW I really only own it when I'm actually staying there on points.

We only have use of the facilities while staying at the resort, or pool hopping while staying at another on-site DVC resort. Imagine if all the owners at OKW decided to 'pop-in and use the pool' while staying off-site.

1] Where would you park?

2] Where would you sit?

3] Would you want to be packed in the pool like sardines?

1) You park at DD and hop a bus.

2) You arrive very early and put your towels on the best chairs then leave for a few hours.

3) If the pool gets crowded the guest actually staying on site can go pool hop.

There,that was easy :-)

The only benefits you get as a DVC member when not staying at a DVC resort on points are the discounts listed on the web page like dining discounts. Those are member specific and you do not need to be staying at a DVC resort to take advantage.

Well, you could visit your favorite restaraunt like any other off-site guest. You could also probably take a walk around your "home" resort. If it's Boardwalk, you could enjoy the Boardwalk side shows and any other guest visiting. If it's OKW, perhaps you could play a round of golf at off-site rates. At WL, a nice meal may help remind you of the wise investment you made.

But, using the pool, or exercise facilities would be unfair to those guests currently staying on points. When you are staying on points, you wouldn't want the pool so crowded by locals or non-paying "drop-ins" that you couldn't use it, couldn't find a chair, didn't have any towels, couldn't get any pool side drinks, etc. would you? Your ownership is for the period of time you are actually using your points. It really kind of makes sense when you think about it, doesn't it? It's not a year round membership to a country club. I'm sure country club style memberships are available at other Orlando locations if your interested, maybe those would be more suitable to your needs. I don't have a good source of contact on a local country club, perhaps someone else could offer comparative information, and we could share it here for DVC guests who are interested in year round access as well as some inconsiderate locals (yourself excluded of course, your just asking a question) who seem to just drop in and use the Disney pools without paying when they want. These inconsiderate local freeloaders may be a contributing factor to DVC members loosing our pool hopping priviledges.

Actually there are benefits I can think of you can use if staying off-site. The DVC golf discount program where you buy the DVC golf card for $85 a year and then can play any Disney course after 10 at a discount ranging from 20% to 40% depending on season and course, and can bring three guests that also get the discount, applies whether you are staying on or off site. In addition, the various restaurant discounts you can get as a DVC member apply regardless of where you are staying.

The question at the top of this thread dealt with "home resort facilities."

It's true that DVC membership provides various discounts just for showing the membership card.

But use of non-public "home resort facilities" is limited to the dates of your stay, including check-in day and check-out day. This is also true for pool hopping (which requires staying at a DVC resort with DVC points) and parking at the theme parks (which is available to anyone staying on site at any Disney resort).

...basically everyone told me what I aleady assumed. Also, don't misunderstand my original post to mean I think I should be able to use the pool any time I please because I know how that priviledge would be abused.
