What have you seen on the EA? (running thread)

gail....

yeah i know that...

was just doing a "list thingy" , trying to remember what i saw on the EA......the other usual intermediates was a grouping not to say that what followed was considered to be an intermediate

I think I did have Emerald Reserve, are you saying I should not have gone to Emerald Aisle and should have just gone to Full Size Aisle instead?

Chuck, if you reserve a 'full size' vehicle, you are supposed to pull your vehicle from the Full Size Aisle (your reservation would say Emerald Reserve). If you reserve an intermediate with Emerald Aisle then you would select any car off of the Emerald Aisle which could have intermediates, full size, small SUV's etc. (although, theoretically, the Emerald Aisle is supposed to only have intermediates.)

Congrats on the Bonneville, though. I love that car!

Yes, that is what I am saying. :)

Emerald Reserve Service, is exclusively for Emerald Club® members. Whether you reserve a convertible, SUV, minivan or any other vehicle, you'll be amazed at the speed and convenience of this service. With Emerald Reserve, you'll be able to reserve any car type, excluding intermediate (or fullsize if Executive level member). When you arrive at the location, you'll bypass the counter, go directly to the row of the car class reserved and choose any car. It's that easy! Emerald Reserve Service is available at all Executive Selection & Emerald Aisle locations.

Oh, ok, the way it was written confused me into thinking you thought a MC was an intermediate. :)

I have always reserved Emerald Aisle using my Emerald Aisle card number so I just went there.

When someone mentioned look at my receipt, that is when I saw it, but they used my Emerald Club # discount on it.

Thanks for the advise.

You have an Emerald Club card, not Emerald Aisle card. It can be confusing.
They have made some changes to the Emerald Club. It is covered quite nicely on the web site and it is way to long to type. :)

If you try to make a reservation for anything but an intermediate it will bump you to either counter or emerald reserve. If you reserved a full size it should have prompted you to select either counter or reserve. Of course, if you made this reservation before the changes, and you selected an intermediate, you had every reason to believe that a full size might be on the EA.

My present reservation tells me to go directly to the emerald reserve aisle. It is on the right hand side of the reservation print out right under the reservation confirmation number.

it used to be that way, then they made the changes in April saying only intermediates would NOW be on EA

BUT

experiences of people who have posted here, they still seem to have a selection of cars on the EA, just not as many sizes since they now put FULL size and above surplus cars on the Executive Selection part of the Aisle

as long as people are happy with what they get, the convenience of EA is a plus,

you can just not expect to find something more than what you have "reserved" ... but it seems that in Orlando there have been sightings of other than intermediates on EA

Yes, I know, that is why I said "theoretically". Some people are still getting things other than intermediates on the EA.

Myself, I reserved a full size because I am not certain what will be availalble on the EA.

Just back today & wanted to post what was on the EA (Terminal "A") upon arrival 6/6 @ 2:30 pm. Walking onto the EA, kids (& DH!) immediately parked themselves next to a beautiful royal/midnight blue PT Cruiser! Remembering what Gail H. had said about the PT being an underpowered car (and knowing its really a Neon under the hood), I took a quick lap around the aisle. Saw Aleros, Grand Ams, a Stratus or two, and some other non-distinct looking intermediates. No SUV's (small or mid-size), so after making sure our 2 large & 1 carry-on size suitcases would fit in the back, I knew I was outnumbered. DH actually loved driving the PT for the week. He said it was no Porsche, but it merged into traffic fine. Most of our travel for the week was on I-Drive or back & forth on Universal Blvd. & it actually sat in the parking lot the first 4 days while we were on-site at Universal. (And the color made it easy to find in parking lots:p) Intermediate was more than fine for our family & luggage needs, but as stated in the past.....ITA that if you need a full-size, reserve a full-size. Cramming luggage & passengers into an under-sized car is NOT the way you want to start your vacation!

Gee Geminimom....

been there...done that...!!!

We got "stuck" with a PT cruiser at an offsite rental joint a couple of years ago...it was just me and my two boys. We were crammed in there like sardines in the can....LOL It was horrible.

I felt like Fred Flintstone trying to merge into traffic.....lol

I have learned a valuable lesson...and will never drive off in another PT cruiser.....

in the famous words of my youngest son..."they're (PT Cruisers) are fun to look at....;) but thats about it...

happy traveling,
Esmerelda

LOL, which is exactly what I am doing in Sept. We have a convertable booked (at a fantastic rate, btw) and we are going to cram three people and many bags (knowing my DD) into a Sebring. I figure for the rate and the short drive back and forth the the airport under less than perfect conditions, it will be worth the problem. :)

Gail you have my sympathy. Been there, done that. We went one year and saw a cute convertible. We had 2 teenagers with us on that trip and never thought about the luggage. SSSSOOO, after getting a couple of bags in the trunk we looked around to see several more pieces of luggage. So the top came down, the kids in the back, then one huge suitcase between them and luggage on their laps. As we zipped down the greenway, we prayed that it would not rain!! Other than to and from the airport, we enjoyed having the convertibile. But won't do that again. Actually hubby does the picking and so far we have always been lucky enough to always acquire a full size, even our last trip in May. We always pick from the B terminal.

LOL, I would have loved to have seen that. :)
Alamo rents Sebrings. So, even if DD (27) brings her entire wardrobe, we should have enough room in the back seat. I plan on bringing bungie cords for the trunk and in case we have to put the top down and put luggage there. Worse case scenario, two trips. Not a big deal. :)

Ressie for Intermediate 6/4-6/14. Arrived at MCO on Friday the 4th around 7pm. Lots of PT Cruisers. We had too many bags for that and a stroller!

There were also the Alero's, and Malibu's. We spotted a red Chevy Impala and loaded it up. Lots of trunk space. We travelled with our stroller in the box (3 wheel jogger type) and that fit in the trunk along with 6 pieces of luggage. It was just Dh, 2 DS's and myself, so we had plenty of room.

We used the EA, but I needed to check inside to make sure my ressie was OK as it was so cheap and I don't like surprises. ($178 inclusive for 10 days)

The Impala was great for 10 days and we did US/IOA and all of WDW on 1 tank of gas and that was with the AC on full blast. Hated to give it back! The pickup and return was painless and quick and no additional costs! This was my second time renting from Nat'l in 3 weeks and I was very pleased with the service.

OTOH, Alamo lines have been looooong each time I have rented, and I overheard one man saying how disappointed he was that they are the official agency for WDW.

Just back from a trip 6/5 - 6/14. We arrived close to midnight, Terminal B. There was nothing on the "regular" Emerald Aisle and on the executive side there were 2 Rendezvous. The National employee told us we could take one of them and we did. Very spacious for the four of us, including 2 car seats in the back seat and a double stroller and alot of luggage in the trunk area.

We took a Malibu this week, and it had 2 miles on it. We wanted one, as we thought we would buy one. Although it rode wonderful, we found it two big for zipping around town...great for Disney.
They had PT's, a coupole vans, lots of classics, a couple regular malibu's, a couple suv, one convertable (which the people behind us swooped down on) and other of the usual cars when we picked up last Thursday aroung 11.

First week of May had a Jeep Liberty and a Pontiac Aztec. The Aztec had lots of luggage room, actually more than the Liberty.

dmrick

was that a malibu max type car...

we wanted to try one when we were there in early june

one was sitting there .....but the keys were missing....we told the booth ....they said they would have to have it rekeyed....

it was still sitting there without keys when we returned 3 days later....

maybe next time ...would like to see what they are like...

We had EA 6/6 to 6/ 19
When we got in around 2 ish went over and looked on side closest, I can't remember which and saw a PT cruiser and alot of the smaller cars, so I headed over to the other side while my DW stayed near a PT, on other side not much better but did have an impala also, and I saw you Geminimom go for that blue PT, I yelled at ya but you didn't hear me, we were right next to each other and I walked down the isle away when I realized it was you and you guys were pulling away. I then asked a girls walking by about any suv available and she said they were all out right now but then said hold on and took me to the manager in the small room who I asked what I could get if I upgraded to a full size as I though the PT was too small and he told the girl to take us out to an Aztec, when we got to it it was just pulling away so she showed me a liberty, a small blazer and a saturn VUE, we took the vue as the others were white and small also. It was a good vehicle for us and we didn't pay extra or anything.
