I'm not really into doing the water park things, so I've never bothered to go to the water parks..

Hopefully I will be returning to WDW this December with my grown DD and my then 5 yr. old granddaughter.. I'm thinking that it might be nice for them to go to the water parks (they both LOVE the water) but would there be anything for me to see or do if I tagged along?

And is one water park better than the other for a 5-year old?

Thanks all!!! ;)

We LOVE Typhoon Lagoon!! It is great fun and surprisingly relaxing. I would say that TL is better than BB for a 5 year old, as the slides are a little less intimidating and there is a great kid's area. Our children have a wonderful time and we have a hard prying them away before closing time!!

On our last trip my DD & her DH went to Blizzard Beach - and I stayed at the cottage with my then soon-to-be 3 yr. old granddaughter and we went to the kiddie pool on the grounds of the Tropical Fun Resort instead.. I remember my DD complained about how "bright" everything was at BB though - as in REALLY white - and she said it hurt her eyes (even though she was wearing sunglasses).. Guess maybe TL would be better - huh?

But I just had another thought.. Will the water parks even be OPEN the first 2 weeks in December??

what have u missed? lots of water... hahahha *rimshot*

ummmmm... any ways....

in the begining of December, Blizzard Beach is the only water park open.

but not to worry, BB has a whole section for the ones around or under 4 feet tall :D as well has a very nice toddler area.

most of the big water rides in the park have no height restrictions and child life vests are free (with a deposit of a drivers licence or credit card)

:D so all in all, if it happens to be warm enough, go for it :)

Thanks for posting this information...I have also never been to a water park, but my 6 year old has been asking about them lately, so I am wondering as well! :)

Thanks!

...a friend from our church got back from Disney World last year and said the water parks were his kids' favorite part of the whole trip!!

If you go, go early. Be ready and in line by 9:30 (I think they open at 10) and be prepared for a mob scene by noon. We usually leave when the crowds -- and lines -- become unmanageable.

But...for a couple of hours, it is a BLAST. Blizzard Beach has the most enjoyable and relaxing flume rides anywhere. (We visited Wet n Wild once, and were sorely disappointed. The slides were rough, and the atmosphere just didn't have the Disney magic.)

There's a lot to see and try and do, so go and enjoy! You won't regret it.

Tip: I'm told a great time to go to the water parks is right after a big rain shower. The rain clears 'em out and you end up having the place to yourself.

Hi! Went to Typhoon Lagoon last Wednesday and it was one of our favorite parks! My DD's - 7 and 9 - are generally wimps about rides. We found they rode EVERY slide in the park and begged for more. Neat Disney magic...not your typical concrete jungle that you find at regular water parks. Lots of fun!
