what has been your worst dining experiance at disney...trying to avoid them :)

If you wait long enough for everyone to answer you will not have any
restaurants to go to because there is always someone who didn't like it.

I would look over information about the different restaurants and if you like the menu and discription of the atmosphere, I would try it--
you never know you may have a wonderful experiance.

For example 2 that were listed on thread:
Tutto--had the best meal and service last trip--and have made ADRs for next month and looking forward to it.
Sci-fi--we really enjoy our meal and the fun unique atmosphere.

so I wouldn't rule out any restaurants until you try them yourself.

I totally agree with this. Tutto was one of our best meals, ranking right up there with our signature meals. Sci Fi was also pretty good and I think is a great choice for a TS meal while in DHS.

I think every place has their off days and that bad meals are very subjective. I say pick places that appeal to you, go in with an open mind and reasonable expectation and enjoy.

Haven't hated any dining experiences yet... but Hollywood and Vine at DHS would probably be my least favorite. Also Cape May Cafe at BC I wasn't a fan of.

I've got over 20 vacations there and I'm down to only about 5 TS places I haven't tried at least once. I think that overall, WDW does a pretty good job for a theme park of providing edible food. Sometimes the atmosphere is better than the food (like at Sci Fi) but overall, I've found that the food meets my expectations for theme park fare.

For us the 2 worst are San Angel Inn and Whispering Canyon Cafe.

Mama Melrose at DHS was lousy. It takes special talent to mess up Italian dishes and they did! However, it's been 7-8 years since that meal. Perhaps they have improved ...

Next month we will try DHS Hollywood & Vine for the Fantasmic! package. I have never read much good about this restaurant, either.

I disagree about Shula's at the Dolphin. Our meal last summer was outstanding. We had a party of 8, and I split an entree with another lady because neither of us wanted to eat so much meat (plus it was $$$). Shula's was happy to accommodate us with separate plates served already split. The food and wine service was tops.

I totally agree. Food was not very good (dry chicken, soggy tortillas), and service was horrendous. I think the only time we saw our waiter was when he took our order. Never came back for drink refills, didn't even bring us our food (someone from the kitchen did). We had to hunt him down for our check after waiting at least 15 min. The only good thing about that restaurant was the amazing atmosphere.

BIG AGREEMENT with this. It's almost a mirroring of our one and only trip to San Angel Inn. We'll never, ever go back. The food was pretty cold when it came out and didn't have much flavor. We also never got a drink refill during our meal so halfway through dinner I was crunching ice in order to get some liquid. Our waiter was no where to be seen the entire meal.

The other place I will never go back to for dinner is Chef Mickey's. The food was not good. I'll go back to Chef Mickey's for breakfast. Now that was a good meal.

We were really disappointed with the Hollywood and Vine breakfast last year. They had 2 characters from Little Einstein and Jo Jo's circus, and that was fine. The food, however, was absolutely horrible. We were one of the 1st people in. The food was cold, bland and unedible.

I would also say, though I absolutely love it and would go again, Chef Mickey's breakfast last year was pretty bad too. The food was inedible. We have been there a few times and usually the food is pretty good, not awesome, but you can eat it. Not last year. But that is one I am willing to give a second chance.

Someone earlier said Tony's and Coral Reef. Those were actually 2 of our favorite meals last year...so everyone is different.

We ate at about 10 places last year and didn't have a bad experience at any of them. The only one that our family unanimously agreed not to return to was Garden Grill at Epcot. It's not that the food was "bad"...it's just that it wasn't even anything special.

The worst counter service is easily the ABC Commissary. Absolutely the worst burger I have ever had. I don't even think it was ground beef. Really bad.

As for other restaurants, there are places we will not go to again, but I cannot say they were really horrible. I will never again return to Boma. The food was okay, but not really our cup of tea.

Also, I will never again return to Cinderella's castle. We use to go there every year until they changed it to two tickets. We went the first year that it was two dining credits and the food had gone down hill a lot. We really had no desire to get our picture taken with Cinderella and we did not get the other things that we were suppose to get. The show with the Fairy Godmother was okay, but really nothing to get excited about---I would rather the food go back to what it was before the change. It was not a bad experience just a disappointing one.

My worst experience was standing in a huge line somewhere in AK and having no place to sit. We placed our tray on a garbage can and ate standing around it. I can honestly say never again to that. Now we eat early or make reservations at a TS.

As far as restaurants we don't like, the Pepper Market at CS is our least favorite.

Cape May Cafe breakfast, I was just not happy with the service I recieved. And along similar lines, Chef Mickey's and 1900 Park Fare, both for breakfast as well.

6 of our party agreed to not eat at Tutto Italia again.Service and food issues were unacceptable given the hype.

Of course everything is subjective but here is how we consider the restaurants at Disney.

First, if it is a buffet, it must be considered in those terms. You can't compare a TS buffet to Citricos evenly. So, if I say to someone, try this buffet its good.....I mean, its good in buffet terms. Same thing with a high end meal like Artist Point etc. If I say, a meal there wasn't so good, I mean in high end terms. The food and service for the money was or wasn't good.

So, with that in mind, we keep a list on places we love, we want to try and to avoid. Our avoid list, in no particular order....

1. Cinderellas Royal Table : FOR THE PRICE, the food was only so-so for dinner, breakfast was okay. And even though meeting the characters was awesome, again, the price and trouble of getting the reservation etc wasn't really worth it. You can have a similar character experience other places. If I wanted to eat in the Castle at least once, I would go the breakfast route. Dinner wasn't worth the cost.

2. Spirit of Aloha : Show was average, nothing spectacular. (no where near HHDR) Food was less than stellar, in fact, poor. Not inedible, but again, for the price it should be better than any average restaurant you could find anywhere.

3. Morocco : Some of the food here was very good, some horrible. We made an error in ordering by ordering their 'special'. I'm sure they have 100 of those ready to go in the back. I believe we will someday give this place another shot and when we do, I will order something I know the must do some fresh work to prepare. But for now, we have many other places to try before it gets a 2nd chance.

4. 50s Prime time Cafe : This is the only one we will never ever go back to. I'm 40, I basically had to fend for myself food wise from about 15 years old on and am not picky. But the food at this place was horrible, horrible. I would like to say it was still better than home, but it wasn't. At home, we have this thing we do on nights where we got home late, or need to go to the store but haven't etc, called "fend for yourself" night. Lets just say, that when the food arrived, if we were truly at home, it would have become a 'fend for yourself' night.

A few comments on some other posts. Hollywood and Vine for the price was decent. It is a buffet and it was decent for the price. The plus was the characters for the kids. Of all the character meal we have attended over the last 5 years, these were the most attentive. I just did a quick survey of the family and 2 of the 3 said this was the best character experience place of all time. (The other said 1900 breakfast at the GF.)

i also disagree with the shula's remark. it was one of the best meals we have ever eaten anywhere not just in disney. we have ressies made already for our november trip. we loved it. yes a bit pricey but we thought worth every bite. as for the ones we don't care for they are espn and sci-fi. we won't be going back to either of them.

OP, as you can see, restaurant reviews are very subjective. For every bad review of a certain restaurant you will have a great review of the same restaurant. Just check out the menus on allears and pick what sounds good to your family.

The restaurant in the mexico pavillion. Horrible.

What was wrong with it? We love San Angel and go every time. Most who do not like it often expect it to be similar to typical Americanized Mexican restaurants throughout the country. We don't want nor expect the typical Tacos, Enchiladas, Burritos, Chimichangas etc. Mexican food is sooo much more than the Americanized version of Sonoran style food!

we had this happen to us last year, and it wasn't even that busy
