We will be there this Thursday thru Sunday. I've been reading comments from everyone and I read somewhere that the park may fill to capacity on the 4th. If that does happen....I'm wondering what will happen if we leave the park to go back to the hotel in the afternoon and evening. We are staying at GC...will they let us back in the park?

As I understand it, when you stay on property they will always let you back into one of the parks. Same thing if you're a passholder. Otherwise, you may not want to leave the parks.

There are different levels of capacity.

At one level, they stop selling tickets, but if you have a ticket you can get in.

At another level, they only allow resort guests in after the park reaches a certain number of guests.

At another level, no one is allowed in the park until people start leaving.

I suggest you get to your desired park early and stay there for the entire day. If you start at DCA and hope to get into DL for fireworks later in the afternoon, you may have to wait until people start leaving in order to get into DL.

Not necessarily. If the park reaches a certain point, nobody gets in.

It is good to know that Dl actually has a capacity to limit themselves to, for when I made the mistake in going last April during the week of Easter, OMG! too many people for my patience level, strollers abound either being wheeled over your nice clean shoes, or they are being cut right in front of you, as if they are being wheeled by commando babies or something, anyway, It seemed to me that at some point that day, Disney should have stopped allowing so many people into the park. It really was wild, in my opinion.
The year before, I had gone in April, but not during Easter week, so when I had made plans for the following April, you see, I had in my mind, oh, that was a good time to go, no long lines, all went well. I just had not for some reason, anticipate the possibility of a very crowded park, if I had, I would have gone during a different week in April.

hmm, The park hasnt reached capacity since NYE of 06.

Are you sure? I was there at Xmas and there were signs about being at capacity up.

As mentioned above, DL has different levels of capacity. I think Albort is saying that DL hasn't closed their gates for capacity reasons since 06. DL will post signs warning guests of the chance of closings for capacity at certain capacity levels.

This is a hunch...but I suspect it won't be at over capacity on the 4th with gas prices etc... Will it be busy...of course!

Thank you all very much. We will start out early in the day at DL and then if we dont get back in later that night we will just deal with it. I know we will be able to see most of the fireworks from our balcony so at least we wont miss them. You guys are great!! :cool1:

Thank you Giselle. My brother actually gave me that nickname....he said I'm always on the go and my heels must always be hot....so he calls me Hotheels :rotfl:

We were just there from the 26th through the 30th and I felt the crowds were very low for the end of June. Most rides only had 20 minute waits! I think gas prices are keeping people from traveling!

When Disneyland reaches capacity they force people to go to DCA. ;) J/K.... actually tho I wonder if it does reach capacity will they allow people with single park tickets the opportunity to go to DCA since they cant get back into DL? I would think they would!

If that's the case, here's hoping for $8.00 gas by October!!! :rolleyes1

LOL!!!!

Something was keeping people away! We were there the exact time last year and it was packed!!!

I was there this past Sunday and was amazed how light the crowds were. We left for DLR at 11am (live hour and half from DLR) and expected traffic all the way down. There was NO traffic. We were able to get Indy fastpasses at 6:30pm for the 7:30 to 8:30 hour. Amaziing! I'm thinking of going to DLR quite often this summer if this keeps up. I usually don't go very much during the summer.

I'm curious if this 4th of July will be light, but I doubt it. They are putting on a special fireworks show for the 4th. I suspect a lot of the local APs will be there to watch.

DLR is always packed on the 4th of July. You are right, lots of AP going there to watch fireworks.

We are AP holders and I have honestly never seen signs up for capacity reached nor were we ever denied entry due to it! :confused3

So, exactly what is the capacity of DL? Like what is the actual number? Just curious....

I've seen it really packed! So I'd hate to see it at capacity, you must not be able to move! LOL

A friend of mine went last year on the 4th. She said it was very busy, but not at any kind of capacity.

I don't think there's an "official" number, but I heard 75,000 - 85,000 people at DL, less at California Adventure!
