Not sure where to post this but I'll try here.

Considering the possibility of a hurricane hitting exactly on the day we're supposed to arrive (Sunday at 2:30) I am wondering if anyone can elaborate on what might happen. We are staying at OKW, have rented points from a member.

Can Disney accommodate you if the Orlando airport gets closed ??? I'm not worried about a little rain or a hurricane but I am worried that they will close the airport and we won't be able to get in.

I am wondering - can Disney extend us one day at OKW if we can't land at the airport?? If not, should we extend our vacation at this point for another day at another resort to just play it safe ?? Can anyone give me some advice and options here. Wouldn't you know, it's been quiet the whole darned summer in FLA and now that WE'RE going down this has to happen !!

Send some pixie dust our way guys. I guess I'll post this over on the DVC board also and see if anyone there knows.

Thanks for your help -

We arrive Friday and right now I'm expecting the weekend to be pretty wet, but I don't think there will be a problem as far as the airport closing. From what I saw on our local news, they are predicting that it will turn out of the gulf and come across Florida in Miami. Orlando would get rain. Maybe problems with delays, but not a closure.

Try not to worry, the whole thing could just go away!!! That's what I'm hoping for!

I live in Mississippi. The week that Katrina hit, my best friend had planned to go to Disney. Under the circumstances, she was not able to make the trip. Disney was very understanding and gave her a full refund for hotel, meal plan, park tickets.....

I think they will work with you if there is a problem, but the best thing to do would be to call and ask how they handle it if the airport is closed.

My personal experience is that that people are very understanding if there is a weather related disaster that affects your plans.

From your lips! :listen: I arrive like the OP at noon on Sunday.

A lot of what will happen with flights will depend on how large the storm gets. If it is rather contained, it shouldn't cause any problems with flights into MCO. If it becomes one of those large storms, like the kind we've seen recently, it could be a problem. They won't fly if there are tropical storm force winds in the area.

Right now, the main path appears to be going toward south Florida. It is, however, to soon to be sure. Orlando is definately in the cone of possibility. I'm not real happy about this either. I am supposed to be returning from LA to Orlando arriving early Monday morning.

We are leaving MCO on 3:30 Sunday afternoon and I was worried about this too.
