Your luggage doesn't make it to MCO and you are using Magical Express? You won't know until sometime that night when your luggage doesn't show up in your room will you?

Has anybody had this happen to them? If so, how did it get resolved? We are planning on using ME, but right now are leaning towards not using the magic yellow tags because we want to know that our luggage made it to Orlando with us. I'm not as concerned about the luggage getting to the resort...if it makes Orlando I'm confident Disney will do their part to get it to the resort. Its Delta I have worries about.

Thanks

If, for some reason, your luggage does not make it to MCO, and you have used your yellow tags, DME is supposed to take care of tracking down the bags and then delivering them to you. Do you have a direct flight or are you making connections? If it's a direct flight I don't think I would be too overly concerned.
As always...take a change of clothes and whatever you may need that first day in your carryon.

We have one connection (no direct flights from Bangor to anywhere - except Boston and Cinncinati). Our luggage as always arrived when/where they were supposed to but I still cross pack and have a change for everybody in the carryon's....I just don't want to have to try to get back to MCO if our luggage takes a side trip to Houston on some other nice place.

The Disney CM at the DME desk asks how many bags you checked and if you used the yellow DME tags. Disney will follow up with your airline and deliver it directly to your room even if you luggage arrives on a later flight.

If you don't use the yellow tags then you WILL have to wait at MCO and file a claim yourself with the Delta office (if they are misdirected) and be delayed getting over to Disney. If you do use the yellow tags, then Disney will make the claim with Delta for you and get them from MCO to your room. Since you will have an appropriately stocked carryon, then even if it is the next day before you get your bags, you won't be fretting with Delta, you will be enjoying your stay.

If your luggage does not arrive with your plane I do not think there is anything you could have gained by not using the yellow tags and planning to fetch the luggage yourself from the carousel.

If you did not get yellow tags in time for your trip you can still have your luggage magically delivered and items that got misdirected by the airline are included. The process involves showing your baggage claim checks at the welcoming area.

I don't know of any recorded instances but if you take ME but ultimately absolutely have to go back to the airport to resolve baggage problems, you should be able to use ME back and back to WDW again.

This is actually one of the benefits of DME. If your luggage does not make it on your plane, and gets misdirected, Disney will fill out a missing baggage form on your behalf. When the bag does turn up, they will then promptly deliver it right to your room. They have a complex tracking system of bags, so they would know if it arrived in Orlando or not.

Without the yellow tags... you would have to remain at the airport to fill out the appropriate forms. When the bags do turn up, they will be sent to the resort via currier. This can actually take 12-24hrs longer than via DME. Then, the bag will be waiting at Bell Services, and you will have to retrieve it yourself, or have a bellperson deliver it to your room (as you wait for it, so that you can tip the bellperson).

I feel a whole lot better now and am sure DSO will too. I really like the idea of not having to fuss with the bags until they are delivered to us, I was just worried about them not arriving at all.

Thanks all.
