Does anyone know what happens when the current celebration is done this coming fall? Has there been any rumors or speculation?

Also, i guess its safe to assume that the current decorations on the castle will come down (i think they are pretty, would have been nice to see them)

I think that Disney *alway* has some type of celebration on the go, ..i think. pixiedust: thanks!

The decorations will come down, Cinderellabration is supposed to go away. There are times where there is no celebration going on.

There has been, in the past, typically an off-year between the celebrations. I'm not so sure we'll see that this time (and if not, perhaps never again, at least not for a while), because I think Disney's realized that guests all want to visit during a special time, so the quickest way to kill your business is to not have some sort of special celebration going on. It has been noted that this 50th anniversary was supposed to last 18 months, and instead has been explicitly cut short, ending September 30 -- one day before the 35th anniversary of Walt Disney World. That obviously will spark speculation that this celebration will be followed-up by another, without any interregnum. Though, it is nothing more than speculation at this point.

35th...that makes sense!!!! i am sure something will be done, at some point for this event. Thanks!

One year later.

I've also read rumors of a celebration focused on Pooh's 75th(?) anniversary.

As far as I know, WDW's 35th Anniversary will begin following the Happiest Celebration, and EPCOT's 25th will follow immediately behind. I am not sure anything "significant" is going to accompany the 35th, but rumors are swirling around EPCOT's 25th and some additions that will go along with it.

wow lots of potential for 'celebrations' over the next few years! Exciting! I guess we wont' hear 'officially' until October 1st. i would think...

They typically do not celebrate characters birthdays in the parks. You may see some merchandise but nothing like a park wide celebration.

They did something for Mickey's 75th, though I don't recall what it was. I figure, though, that times have changed. Disney saw its attendance figures drop after the last few celebration years, and probably have learned their lesson now that they have to make every year a celebration year or face regular droughts.

Any ideas if the MMW ticket system will remain in effect? I've have some non-expiring remaining days on old park hoppers, but it didn't make sense to use them with the new tickets being what they are. I always thought the ticket system went along with the celebration, but is that not the case?

oh wow! Our 1st day of WDW vacation begins on Oct.1st! I was assuming the 50th celebration would still be going on. I wonder if they will announce in advance if the 35th celebration is beginning... or is there normally some space in between celebrations? It seems like it may be hard to switch from 1 to another overnight? :confused3

DH and I will be there in May to see the 50th decorations one last time before they come down. We will be back in February chaparoning foreign exchange students...and again for our annual trip in October....hopefully they will have new decorations up...celebating the 35th???

I wasn't at Disney to see the cake castle in person.....but from pictures....please don't bring that one back!!!

Also, AK will have its 10th anniversary in 2008, MGM will have its 20th in 2009. 2010 is the first year without a major milestone to celebrate. Then 2011 is WDW's 40th, 2012 is Epcot's 30th, etc., etc.

So, yes, WDW is rarely without a milestone to celebrate! pixiedust:

Tim, who will risk getting flamed by saying that he thought the 25th anniversary cake castle was cool!

I've been during the "tencennial," 20 years, 25 years and the 100 Years of Magic/35 year. We didn't want to visit during summer (too hot for us! :bitelip: ) and are so disappointed that these may be gone when we visit later this year because they've cut the 50th celebation short!

Are there any indications when the castle will be returned to "normal"?
I hope the castle isn't behind construction boards when we visit - those great shots up Main Street just wouldn't be the same without the castle in them! :rotfl2:

I liked the castle cake too, but then our kids were really young then so it really got their attention and was more interesting then "princesses" at the time.
