What for DD while DS is at Haunted House?

I absolutely would not spend a FP on Small World. We always ride it, but have never waited more than 10 minutes. It is almost always a virtual walk on. Your FPs would be much better scheduled elsewhere IMO.

If I had the room to use a FP, I was actually thinking of using FP for Its a Small World for DD while DS using FP for Haunted House. In this way, I would minimize waiting time if one finishes before the other.

Don't worry too much about the October crowds if you sitck to the recommended park days on the crowd calendar (I like EasyWDW). Waits for the HM shouldn't be too long.

I take it that you don't plan on riding any of the "Mountains" though you are riding 7DMT. If Space or Big Thunder are at all interesting to you, they are better FP candidates. Also, Jungle Cruise usually has longer waits than HM.

Small World will have very short waits as well, and Peter Pan is a much more efficient choice as lines for that are always long.

Yeah...we have those other rides planned. It's just the way I've split them up.

MK Arrival Day (only have around 4-7pm)
  • Buzz Light
  • Peter Pan
  • ?

MK Full Day 1
  • As discussed in the thread

MK Full Day 2
  • A&E...if I can get (DD only)
  • Big Thunder Mountain
  • Splash Mountain (DS only)
  • Peter Pan

Then can also add a few on MNSSHP ticket day from 4-7pm.

Unfortunately our plans do not follow the crowd recommendations. We will be hitting MK on Monday (first full day). But that's because we want to go on a full day with Electrical Parade, and only other day for this would be the Wed...but that will be our park-free day.

So I think we have hit the main FP recommendations.

I might FP Peter Pan while he is in the mansion. It is right there, is cute and the line grows fast and is boring.
The other consideration with haunted mansion is that the line is actually cool. They have entertainment build into the line area which you miss out on if you use FP. The line plus ride length would give you time to ride the river boat or see a longer show with DD while DS gets to play with the haunted line game things.

DS has been going to the Haunted Mansion with us since he was 4. I never even considered the possibility that it might scare him. I don't really recall seeing any kids run out of the mansion screaming and crying, though I suppose it probably does happen from time to time.

Ah, so you weren't there when I tried to get my dd to go! My dd8 has (mostly) no fears and loves fast coasters, even went recently on an upside down looping coaster. But last Aug when I tried to get her to go on HM, she freaked out in the pre-show room and refused to go on, terrified. Mind you, she went on Tower of Terror that same trip and asked to go again this upcoming trip. This year (post backwards-looping coaster) we're trying again. My ds5 is looking forward to it, dd8 is still nervous, but it's a must-ride for me and I don't want to lose out again. Who knows what goes on in their minds? :confused3 Fingers crossed.

OP,
You should head over to easywdw and on the right about 7 items down is a link "cheat sheets."
He gives a ton of information that may make your planning easier. This includes some FP priorities as well as a lot of general information that you may not think you need, but it will make your trip a million times easier. He has a map and projected wait times for rides at various time of day. It can really help you figure out when you want to do various activities. Entering a line at 10 am or noon really could make the difference of whether you ride one ride or three.

Thanks. I've actually been using this map (very helpful) and looked at the cheat sheets. Only thing is...it's a bit more complicated as our family will be splitting up for a few rides (trying to minimize this) due to my kids being 4 years apart and older one more daring than the yonger one.

Also...most rides are "best to ride first two hours of park". I've noted these, but obviously that only leaves one or two that are 'anytime rides'.

I guess the original question though was trying to see what DD could go on while DS goes on Haunted Mansion ;) So just need to look at plans to decide whether to use FP on her ride or not. Again, main reason for doing so would be to limit each waiting for the other to finish.
