First off please don't turn this into a bash BLT thread. I have read all the good stuff about BLT, and people's opinions of why they will never buy or stay there. We are going in Oct and just want to prepare ourselves ahead of time if possible. A few examples I have seen in various posts:

1. Limited ice machines
2. Something about a 1/4 inch gap or something in the bathroom doors
3. Being able to go #2 and eat breakfast the way the layout is set up
4. Etc

Just thought it would be good to get all the quirk stuff in one thread so people (ok..... well me) can prepare ourselves for our trips. I handle things much better if I'm not surprised by them and assume others are the same:confused3

We stayed on August 7th and 8th in a studio. Since we were probably the first ones in our room (it was ready at 7:30 am), my DS said that the sleeper sofa was still a little "stiff".

The space between the bed/couch and couch/sliding doors was a litte tight. We used these spaces to store the pillows from the couch when it was open.

The other quirky thing was the lock on the slider. You have to push both of them (not just the top one that I kept trying to do!!) to get it to lock.

Other than that, all the other things you have heard about.

OK, I remembered something about our BLT stay that bugged me... not enough pillows & blankets for the pull-outs in the 1-bedroom. We got in late afternoon on Opening Day and had to leave the room fairly quickly. When we got back it was late & when we opened the couch & sleeper chair for the kids, there were no pillows in them. We found one blanket in the closet, but that was it. Huh? :confused3 That wasn't going to do so I called Mousekeeping (which is in the Contemporary) to ask for more. I do believe I was their first call from BLT because they sounded confused. I asked for more pillows & blankets, and they said that they would bring some. Well, about 10 minutes later, a manager on a Segway came and knocked on the door to see what we wanted. I told her we needed more pillows & blankets, and she said that the pull-outs are designed to use the pillows that came with them. Ummmm... I don't think so. She reluctantly agreed to have someone bring us 4 pillows & 2 blankets. About 15 minutes later (at midnight) a CM came with a cart and brought our stuff. She was excited because it was her first time bringing something to BLT.

From now on, we will call to request the pillows & blankets as soon as we get there. :thumbsup2

Good things, I changed the title of the post as it might be more accurate.

There are no places to put your garbage on the first three floors. You have to take all your garbage to the forth floor.

Is it also true that the bathroom sliding doors do not have locks, I didn't see any when I saw the model.
The vanity/kitchenette area is another big mistake IMO

In the studio, there is no soap dish in the bath tub. No shelf, nada! That was strange!

On the other new sleeper sofas at the other resorts, the pillows are stored under the back of the sofa. You need to tilt the sofa back to get to them. Are the BLT sofas the same?

No they are not the same. They sit on top of the bottom cushion like a regular sofa.

Ooooo, good idea for a thread. Subbing (since we'll be at BLT in less than a month). :goodvibes

The studios are smaller - big difference between
blt and bwv/akl (confirmed with DVC). we found it
small for a family of 3.
As stated above the sleeper was awful.

We stayed there last week and we found the bathroom doors with no locks, unconfortable and annoying :confused3  :confused3

Closets are smaller than in the SSR.

The day of our T&T they did not let any shampoo, conditioner, soaps. We did not ask for it as we had our own, but I supposed they had to do it.

The faucet is not comfortable and the water accumulates behind ..

It supposed that only ppl with a key could enter the bridge but I saw ppl letting doors open, so we did not need our key.........

But WE HAD a GREAT VIEW of the MK.....

The worst part are the doors with no locks, but I hope they fixed that soon, we would like to invite some friends and relatives to stay at a Grand Villa, but with no locks........ maybe we must stay at another resort.

Just relax and have a GREAT TIME!!!!

:woohoo: :yay: :dance3: :cool1: :rotfl:

No Sheers!! Just curtains. It's either curtains open to have natural light or curtains closed and room darkened.

Saw lots of wide open curtains on the lower levels which allowed full view of the units.

The gap in the bathroom door allows air to blow into the bathroom and blow the shower curtain in on you. Hence the reason I noticed that the tub must be made out of a material other than steel, because the magnetic shower liner does not stick to the sides of the tub to hold it in place.

The shower head could be used to strip paint from cars. I had to run half-faucet, half shower to to reduce pressure. Shower stream is not adjustable.

No shelves in shower area to place items. The little bottles barely fit. It makes the vanity/kitchen combo a quasi dressing area, which means you will have naked people in your kitchen!:rotfl:

That is why my new name for the studios is "intimate" not small:wizard:

Oh, and maybe Im the only one with this problem, but I sleep on the left side of the bed, and my rear kept scraping the wall. So if you see a groove on the left wall, you will know how it got there:lmao:

I missed that! we were at a 2BR, so in the master there is no problem, but the other two bathrooms have no space to put big (even medium) bottles of shampoo, conditioner.... they must put shelves.

3. Being able to go #2 and eat breakfast the way the layout is set up
...

More like being able to brush your teeth and brush your butter on your toast at the same time.

So where exactly do you store your bar of soap?? On the floor of the shower? And this slider door, I don't get it. Does anyone have close up pics of the shower and door so we can see it?

This is interesting. While not a deal breaker for staying at BLT, these are the two things mentioned so far that I would find most annoying. I take my trash out almost daily at OKW. And the soap dish thing is just odd.

Oh you all are scaring me! I am going with DD and awfully picky Mom in Febuary. Booked BLT because I wanted to be close to all my favorite restaurants and my mom is a comteporary kind of lady. Both in the sense of her style and we stayed at the Contemporary at park opening in 1971.

We are 4 nights, requested Lake view. Just want her to be happy! don't want to switch but jeez.....SCARED!
