What does your company give you for Xmas

All employees get $100 grocery gift card, $50 gift card to either Walmart or Target, a food gift pack (usually pasta sauces, garlic, etc), a personal item (this year it's lunch totes and black shirts). Hourly employees get a bonus ranging from $500 to $2500 depending on length of service. Management hands this out at the Christmas party where we also serve lunch to our production employees to show our appreciation for their hard work. Those of us in management don't get our very generous bonuses until Jan 15 but we are told the amount before Christmas.

When I came to work for this company 13 years ago, I was stunned to discover that the employees had been there so long (there are many employees with over 30 years there). Now I completely understand why people don't quit.

Last year I got a $400 bonus which is pretty good for a construction worker. This year nothing. I am very dissapointed, as I was really counting on that money. Probably have to charge up my credit card now.

DH is retired but works PT in retail. The store provides a catered lunch one day during the Xmas madness.

I work for a bank. My RSM took his team to lunch last week. The bank used to host a gala holiday party for employees and a guest or spouse but that's a thing of the past

An annual incentive bonus based on productivity (I'm in a sales position) is not paid until March or April.

Like most others have said, I am lucky and happy to have a job and the lack of Christmas "cheer" is not something that I worry about. I used to work in an environment where "Secret Santa" and "Gift Exchanges" and "Hey, let's ante up to buy the boss a present" was business as usual. I surely don't miss that atmosphere at all since it often seemed contrived and enjoyed by a very few people.

I work for a small business and one year I got $50, the next $100, last year $50 - the owner apologized that the Christmas bonus was not as large last year. I told her it was the perfect size and color and thanked her for her generosity. Considering her own husband had been unemployed for part of last year, I really didn't expect to get anything.

Large cash bonus (enough to pay my mortgage for 6 months), the week off between Christmas and New Years - paid. Love my job.

We used to get an extra weeks pay but this year we got a pay cut.

First, let me say I'm glad I'm not my mom -- on Friday at lunch they told her "We don't need you any more...Here's two weeks severance."
She was so upset.

But, my DH and I both work for the same bank - both in back office, not branch or retail ops. DH gets quarterly/annual bonuses for his productivity, but we won't see that till probably end of Jan/beginning of Feb.
His office is having a potluck party on Wednesday which I have already baked something for.

My office - my dept mgr bought each of us a $25 Target GC, my supervisor got me a $25 Gap GC, and our whole dept got together last thursday at a local restaurant for drinks & appetizers. I think each of the mgrs chipped in, up to $500 total.

We're supposed to have a smaller group lunch sometime after the holiday when everyone is back in the office.

Last year I was surprised and rec'd a $2000 bonus as I'd taken on much new responsibility. I was really surprised as I'd been on maternity leave 3 mos of the year.

This year - no new raises for the year, or promotions for my new responsibilities, so I'm hoping for a similar bonus, but won't be upset if I don't get it.

My company gives/does nothing extra for the holidays except Christmas is a paid holiday. Some years I have to be on call. An immediate manager may or may not mail a holiday card to my home. We used to get out a few hours early the day before a company holiday but no longer so I try to save vacation days.

My DH's company gives bonuses some years, its ranged from 33% salary to 0%, been 0% for the last few years. The have a holiday dinner, some years it includes spouse/guest, some years not. Christmas is a paid holiday but he is always on call and usually works a few hours.

This year, our union threw a party for us with a four hour open bar and a small buffet. Everyone who attended got a free mousepad and t-shirt with our union logo.

The company itself subsidizes our office holiday party. This year, we paid $8 and got a bunch of yummy food and beer at lunchtime last Friday. I work in a law office, and all of the lawyers chip in to give gift cards to the support staff - though I'm not sure how much the gift cards are. I think we collect close to $2500 and divide it by twenty-five or so paralegals and admins.... so maybe $100 each?

DH has been working for the same large financial services company for almost 20 years - he gets nothing, but does buy small gifts for his staff.

DH gets a 8 lb ham every year from his company, as well as a swanky holiday party. His division also has a luncheon catered by the company and everyone (all 1400 employees) receive Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Years Eve and New Years Day off -paid.

I love the company DH works for.

The last job I had, it was a choice of a turkey or a ham..

The job before that (when I worked for a doctor), she made each of us these great canvas bags; gave us a turkey or ham (our choice); closed the office and took us out for brunch; and gave us each a cash bonus..

DD's DH receives a substantial Christmas bonus each year (based on how much money he has brought into the company as the project estimator that secures the bids) - as well as a very elegant sit-down dinner for the employees and their spouses or S/O's.. One year his boss also bought him a new furnace when the old one died a few days before Christmas..

My company has an Holiday Party, usually on a weeknight about 10 days before Christmas. I only attend about half the time, since it's always in a hotel ballroom or other facility near our headquarters about 2 hours from my home. I must say they do put on quite a lavish spread.

We also get a cash bonus, but it's given in late March.

He is on call 24/7 even when we are on vacation. Since he started at this company 6 years ago not a singe day has passed that he has not had to remote in, been called etc. Every on of our vacations he is required to remote in. In all this he doesn't hate his job, but he does say that a little appreciation would go a long way. Christmas or not, a pat on the back would go a long way.

That's what I was trying to say when I edited my post! I really wonder if people would care so much about getting a gift from their employer if the employer would just TELL them how great they are! Everyone needs to have that validation once in a while!! I know my DH would just like to hear that he's doing a great job, since evaluations have seemed to fall by the wayside, and raises are a thing of the past
