I want to dress my daughter in a Minnie costume when we go to WDW in three weeks. When we went last time, we saw Minnie in MGM taking pictures with the kids at her trailer. I want to take my daughter's picture with Minnie while she is wearing her costume. My only problem is that I don't remember what the "real" Minnie's dress looks like. There are many different costumes out there and even the official Disney costume from last year is different from this year's costume. Does anyone have a picture of Minnie from the parks?

Here is a pic that I have...hope it helps!!

Thanks! It does. I may have to make her a dress since none of the costumes are like Minnie's dress.

There is one that looks pretty close on ebay...it is a size 2-4t, don't know if that would fit, but the item# is 2273251530

That would be perfect! But, I need a size 12-18 months. I emailed her to see if she would tell me where she got it from.

It's a bias-cut circle skirt with an empire waist. Not an easy pattern to find, but this one comes closest out of those I've used:

A gathered skirt just doesn't show off the big dots properly. You need dots of at least 3/4" to really get the look. Some people will paint on white dots if they can't find the dotted fabric, but that's a lot of work.

please post if you find fabric-we have been looking for months-I have looked at fabric stores and surfed the internet, but haven't found it

Emily is just adorable!

Thanks, she's the apple of my eye!

I think I have decided just to get the Disney Store dress and paint the dots on the top. That is my only complaint on this year's costume. They have a solid red top with a polka dotted bottom.

Hancock's normally carries an 11/16" red/white polka dot cotton this time of year; they stock it for the endless Halloween clown market. It has a slightly wider repeat, but it's fairly close.

PS: You won't believe this, but there is someone selling 3 yds. of very-authentic looking fabric out on Ebay *right now* (it's not me, I promise!). The auction expires on 10/10/04; the item number is 8136912129. (Now that I've posted it here, of course, there will probably be a bidding war!)

If you make a proper Minnie, don't forget the eyelet-trimmed white "bloomers" underneath; she traditionally flashes a bit of lingerie! (Can't you just see a little one showing off her bloomers to Minnie?)

Actually, isn't the shipping quite high for some fabric?
