What does Pot/Weed smell like?

Like beaucoup said, skunk you don't want to smell, and want to get rid of as soon as possible. Skunk is acrid, pot is not.

Yeah, I wouldn't call pot acrid, but I think whether or not you like the smell may depend on whether you're a user. As someone who hasn't had any, I find the smell a little offensive. Other than the roomie situation (which was my first exposure to the smell and was a horrible situation all around so perhaps it colored my view a bit), the only times I've been exposed to it have been at parties with and for my fellow gays. I try to avoid gatherings that attract the pothead crowd (more a wine and cheese guy myself), but you never know when someone is going to bring a friend who decides to ruin the atmosphere.

I am also a product of the Peace, love and rock and roll generation. Honestly, I never thought it smelled like skunk back then. I will admit its been more than 35 years since I have smelled the stuff so I am going to say 'maybe'. Who knows what it smells like today. I remember it more as a sweet smell as another posted. Bu then again, we were all partaking in our quest to find enlightment...:lmao: so really I may have not been paying attention.

OP, you are moving in a week. I don't think your personal belongings will be full of the smell or retain it if he person was there one night. As for the smell in the house, open the windows and light a candle or incense. Again, a trick of the 60
and 70's. After parties at college, everything smelled like incense not pot.

Skunk weed indeed does smell like skunk, hence the name, skunk weed.

It is the product that smells like skunk, not the by-products in the air after being smoked.

It is not the cheap weed either. It can be significantly more expensive than your regular ordinary every day weed.

This is my understanding also.

OP, since you've only got a week, a can of Febreeze could be your friend!

Yes! Smells like a skunk! Gross.

Wow...I think it smells good! Never once associated it with a skunk smell!

Yeah, I've never associated pot smell with skunk smell.

Skunk smell, I want to roll up the windows & not smell it again.
Pot smell, well, LOL, I keep breathing it in to make sure that's what I'm smelling. ;) :rotfl2:

Ditto!! :thumbsup2

I would describe most pot as smelling "sicky sweet".

I have smelled skunk weed and it does indeed smell like a skunk but I wouldn't think that its a very common type of pot for folks to have for that very reason.

I always thought that it smelled pretty good. Not that I would really know of course. ;)

I didn't think there was anyone on the planet who didn't know what pot smelled like. Even if you don't smoke it go to just about any outdoor concert and wait until after dark and you will know what pot smells like in no time. Heck, I've been to indoor concerts that smelled like weed by the end of the night.

I have never associated the smell of pot with skunks, it just smells like pot.

You know, I must be the most naive, most sheltered, most "square" person on the planet, but even I know what pot smells like. (I did go to college and I've been to Rolling Stones concerts, after all ;))

I've never smelled pot that smelled like skunk.

I've only smelled it once back when I was in high school (70's). It really did stink and my first reaction was "what on earth are you guys smoking???":rotfl:

I thought it was some other drug besides pot because it really did smell so different than any other time I had been around it.

My answer was going to be: like a concert. ;)

To me the smell is more sickly sweet, like rotting fruit/vegetation. In my childhood I was unlucky enough to live in a place where skunks were quite common, and in my experience skunk doens't smell at all the same.

Definitely sweet.

When I was a younger teen my Mom pointed the smell out to me. To this day I'll never understand why she did, but it's definitely distinctive.

Yes. It does smell like skunk - but a sweeter version without the horrible skunk stink. That's what it smells like (strongly) in the bag - not as much as it's smoked and the smoke wafts thru the air.
And yes - skunk weed is not the cheap weed - it's usually the good stuff.

I've always heard it described as burning leaves, but I'm not sure that's how I would describe it. I've never smelled any that reminded me of a skunk, although it's possible, I'm sure. To me, it just smells like pot. :confused3

My guess is that's probably what you're smelling.

Yea, most pot does not smell like skunk, but skunk buds do.

This is what pot smells like. An earthy smell TRYING to be covered up by incense, room spray, candle smell, etc. I don't remember pot smelling like skunk, but it definitely has a smell all its own. If anyone has the new iPhone, I think you should ask the phone. I'd be interested to see what she says. ;)

Does your roomie use sandalwood incense? Back in the late 1960's to early 1970's, that was the incense of choice for covering up the smell. They're not really at all similar, but it does a pretty good job of masking the smell of weed.

Never smoked it myself, but good grief -- I came of age in the 1960's and there was NO way you could avoid the smell unless you lived in a monastery. And I'm not so certain about then!

Back in my day < adjusts bifocals and walker >, when you could smoke inside an arena, anyone who went to any kind of concert knew what pot smelled like. To me, it doesn't smell skunky at all, but maybe different people detect different things.

I think pot has a skunky smell, especially the buds. The higher the THC content, the stickier the buds and skunkier the smell. Waaaaaaayyyy back in the 70's, I had a roommate whose mother used to send him some seriously good weed (so I was told :rolleyes1) from Hawaii, and let me tell you, a bag of that stuff really stunk!

From my umm...vague memory from college I remember it smelling kind of skunky but also kind of sweet and grassy in a weird way. The thing is different types of pot smell in a slightly different way.

Ummm.....so I would guess.
