what does it mean when someone blinks several times a second while talking?

Forget blinking too much, I've known this one guy for years and I swear I have NEVER seen him blink. That's disturbing.

My Dad blinks excessively when hes concentrating or excited or anxious. Especially when he's on the phone, it is a constant. He is the most brutally honest person I know. I suspect some people blink more than others for a myriad of reasons.

I am still confused that it is a political thread. I honestly thought that someone was curious as to why someone would blink a lot. I didn't expect to be interrupting a thread about that evil McCain with a real answer to the question. Yikes.

I guess I lie just about every moment of my life.

Don't worry this seems to happen a lot with the political threads -- then when someone asks a question totally not related to the politicians -- those of us who have done the same thing tend to think "OK...do they REALLY want to know or is this some political thread in disguise?" I'm trying to avoid political threads so it stinks when I have found myself answering one and then it ends up a....McCain vs. Obama thread.

I suffer from allergies and my eyes are affected a lot. I also wear contacts so combine the allergies, contacts and bright lights and I bet my eyelids look like a blur at times. (Slight exaggeration. ) I don't really think that how often someone blinks has anything to do with honestly.

That's interesting. I asked DH last night why Obama blinked so much! He blinked and stuttered the whole night!

ETA-I just goggled it and yes, others noticed Obama blinking. One side sees the other blinking too much and vice versa!

Well then if BOTH sides were blinking a whole lot my guess would be they had some awfully strong lights in there for showing it on TV (probably several! Was this shown on more than one station? If every station had a camera crew with bright lights that could make it awfully irritating on the eyes). Hmmm... just a thought.

I wear contacts and have super sensitive light color eyes. I am sure I blink a lot. I wear sunglasses even when very cloudy out. Light really hurts my eyes.

I didn't put much into the "blinking" because of the lights. I was watching the reactive expression changing.

There's also a medical condition that I believe is similar in physiology to restless leg syndrome.

I'm an SLP. I understand stuttering. Sometimes dysfluencies occur when we are nervous.
