I just wanted to know what you use to clean with in your home? I buy Mr. Clean multi-surface spray. I wanted to know how to save a buck or 2 by maybe mixing my own cleaning spray but don't know what to mix together :confused3 . I have a house keeper who comes in once a month and I know she uses ammonia but I think its mixed with something else. My house do not have that ammonia smell.

I think I have heard someone say they use a mix of ammonia and vinegar to clean windows ??

For all-purpose cleaning, mix 1 part water to 1 part white vinegar in a spray bottle.

For scouring, make a paste of baking soda and a little water and use with a sponge or cloth.

Baking soda can also replace you fabric softener (use 1 cup for a large load).

The recipe I have come across most frequently for glass cleaner is:
1 cup water
1 cup rubbing alcohol
1 teaspoon vinegar

I don't like chemicals, and Seventh Gen cleaning products are expensive and unnecessary. Vinegar and baking soda both have so any uses. Try googling them! :)

I usually buy an orange all purpose spray cleaner from our local dollar store to clean kitchen counters with. It works great and keeps the kitchen smelling great. I keep an spray bottle of all purpose cleaner with bleach under the sink for stubborn stains on counters (i.e. - kool-aid, pop, etc) I don't like my house to smell like bleach and cleaning supplies, so I only use that when necessary. For the bathroom, I also use the generic scrubbing bubbles cleaner from the dollar store. Works like a charm. For cleaning toilets, I buy "The Works" brand of cleaner.

I might start mixing my own cleaners. Never thought about it before, but it might be worth a try.

Like Busymom2three, I use vinegar for almost everything! The only thing I dod not use it for is the toilet and my granite counter tops.

Fabuloso! A friend who is originally from Cape Verde and is a house cleaner here swears by it, so I tried it, and I love it!

I'm using vinegar and baking soda most of the time. It works great and is SO much cheaper. And, I don't have all those cans and bottles laying around.

Vineager and baking soda for most things. Clorox toilet wands for the toilet and I still use floor cleaner to mop the kitchen floor, and murphy's oil soap for the hard wood floors.

I know it is bad. But I have to use pine sol. And then I use bleach one time a week to clean the kitchens and bathrooms.

I use vinegar and water most of the time. The vinegar smell dosn't last long and evaporates into the air when it drys. You can also squirt a little lemon juice in the bottle to give your vinegar cleaner a nice lemon-onny smell.

I normally use vinegar and water in a spray bottle. My dh complains every time I use that stuff, how much he hates the vinegar smell. I'm the housekeeper so I use what I want! I still have some Method brand from when they were on sale Target and I love their mint glass cleaner.

I use a mixture of water, bleach and Dawn. I use it to mop the floors, clean the counters, wipe the stove, and do the toilets. I clean when DS5 is not around since the smell can sometimes be strong.
I am going to try the baking soda to see how it works.
I looove how purple Fabuloso smells. What I do with it is pour some in the toilet before I leave out the house and let it sit there. When I return in the evening the house smells great and it keeps the toilet clean.

:cheer2:
