What do you think...re: tattoo ideas UPDATED again 7/10 I DID IT!!!

I love it!! I've said it before on other threads and I'll say it again. Usually the girls that think tattoos on other women are nasty have husbands that think they are hot. I know I never get looks of disgust from mine;)

This is probably very true! I am a conservative, Baptist, Sahm from Kansas with a little tattoo on my ankle. My husband loves it, but some of my friends probably think it's trashy. For me it is about not taking myself too seriously. I don't want a Mike Tyson face tattoo or anything, but a little something fun that my dh likes :thumbsup2 !

My BF and I did that a few years ago- we got this celtic heart design with the words "anam cara" (means soul friend in gaelic) on our hips- mine left, hers right. Cause that's where we're joined.

She lives in GA and I live in OR so we are ALWAYS on the phone. We would have to have it done on the ear's then.:rotfl: Talk about a Mickey tribute!

To each their own. My mom cannot stand the fact that I have 2 tattoos. She thinks it is stupid and trashy. Oh well! I told her it isn't her body or her money. My Sorcerer Mickey is hidden on my back and only visible when I wear strappy tops and my hibiscus flowers are on my right calf/ankle. I did not want to look like a Motorcyle Mama and I feel mine are tastefully done. In fact, I want another one with my kids names on it. Maybe next year?? So, when I tell my mom I am getting my 3rd tattoo I can just imagine the look of disgust on her face!!

It's so funny how some people are so uptight about tatoos. Really.

Hemisphere Dancer,

Your sorceror Mickey is awesome! For a long time, I wanted just the hat on my hip. Then it evolved to Stitch trying on the hat (he does cause the same sort of damage, right?). The colors are great and the artist did a fantastic job!

Funny story:

About eight or nine months ago, I was helping a customer at my store and he had an incredible tattoo of two children on his arm. As I had seen the one little boy with him, I commented on how the artist was very gifted-that the tattoo looked just like the child. Then I said "gee, it looks as if you went and had Kat Von D do it."

He turns around a little, and shows me her initials on the bottom of the tattoo. He flew out to LA (from Tampa) just so she could do it at Corey's old shop. He said they were knocking back tequila the whole time (7 hours). This was before everything was known about LA Ink happening, so he told me that, too.

All I can say about it is wow. It was about 4x5 and had such detail. I am not surprised that it took 7 hours to do, as there was so much shading within it.

is very similar to what I have

(I would show you a real pic of it, but I'm at the office without access to my pictures and won't be home until after 8pm tonight)

I found one I like at lucky fish to. Haven't gotten it yet though. Can't decide where I want it. But I would also like something that DH and I can get matching or at least similar - like halves of a whole or something.

This is the one I want - when I can figure out where to put it.

I just can't keep up w/ all the tattoo pics here but I like them all. They all look great you guys. real cute.

strange, I've never seen a person in a boardroom with a spider tatt on his neck.

art hangs in galleries, not on a bicep.

Let's see...

I'm a director at one of the larger non-profits in NYC, happen to sit on a board of directors at another agency, and I'm on the advisory board for volunteerism in the Office of Emergency Management of NYC. I have a tattoo.

My partner spent 16 years as director in a legal department within one of the largest publishing houses in the world. He is now a school teacher. He has a tattoo.

A close friend is inhouse attorney at a securities and compliance firm on Wall Street and he happens to RUN the board meetings when they meet. He has a tattoo.

That same friend's wife is a partner in one of the largest law firms in Manhattan. She has two tattoos.

Another college friend is a head obstetrics nurse at a major NYC hospital. She has a tattoo.

And yet another good friend was a chief inhouse attorney within a fancy ol' insurance company. He has since left that field and was ordained as an Episcopalian priest two weeks ago. (VERY proud of him by the way!) He has two tattoos.

Yeah, you go ahead and tell 'em! :thumbsup2

ETA: Crap, I know too many lawyers.

How come I've never seen your tattoo:rolleyes1

I got my first tat at 18, it's Pooh Bear on my ankle. My mom wasn't too thrilled at the time but got over it. When I went to get my tongue pierced she begged me to get another tattoo instead. :rotfl: I did both! :rotfl2:

The sorcerer Mickey tattoo is awesome. I have to admit while I originally said I wouldn't get anymore, looking at all these pics is awesome.

My brother and I are taking about something Irish and last night I found the translation of Bound by Blood in gaelic...so who knows.

I would love something on my calf, but I can't have it at work, so that would mean pants forever, lol.

I have that same Mickey tatoo on my arm, except without the wand.I am thinking about having one of the brooms there instead

To be honest, I never would have thought of a calf tattoo for the same reasons. Here I am, hiding the one leg at work because it looks bad. My thought is that if I EVER wear a short skirt to work again, I'll have to wear opaque tights to cover the one leg. That'll cover a tattoo as well. :teeth:

I think the tattoo artist I contacted will laugh. We discussed that I wanted to be able to see it, but have to hide it for work-and now I'm pretty much convinced that it'll go on my calf.

Younger son knows this tattoo will be because of his brother's gift of imagination. Somehow, I suspect he will want equal time.

I love all the pictures of the tattoos! Someday, maybe I'll get the guts to do it. DH just got his first one. He was going to get one very similar to CathrynRose's but in blue. Then he found the one he ended up with and it fit him perfectly. Here is a pic. (Oh, and he is a Marketing Manager, if we are keeping track;) )

(Sorry the pic is kind of weird, I took it at an angle)
