What do you think is behind the dramatic jump in resort prices at both WDW and Universal? I am not local so I can't see it but are all the properties just so full of people they have to raise prices just to fit everyone who wants to be onsite at both theme park empires? There used to be perks to staying onsite but they are shrinking, are there newer perks?

Demand.

Why idk but that is why prices increase consistently at a successful business.
This. For example, when the World Cup comes to the USA next summer, the prices will go up again (even when Florida doesn't feel great with extreme humidity). Miami, Atlanta, and LA will be holding some major matches and those fans will be visiting WDW/DL and Universal Studios along the way if they can. Not to mention big and small watch parties in every city and town in the USA. Both companies will take as much advantages they can get from the tourism. Billions will be made from this tournament and every state wants a piece of it.

That is true but Disney has also been offering a lot of discounts lately on rooms. I’ve seen offers up to 35% off recently. Normally such discounts aren’t offered if demand is up and they’re filling the rooms.

Depends on your version of normal. Normal pre-Covid was all these discounts. During Covid they drastically cut capacity and the discounts. So if you’re baseline price is normal pre-Covid discount to the price you pay today with a discount you’ve still seen the huge jump.

The real game breaker was when they started selling passes with monthly payments. Disney has been on fire ever since then. I know it has been a while, but every year gets busier. They totally own demographics at this point. For the 20-40 year old, professional sports , vegas, golf, steak dinners are not what they are spending on. This is the group that was raised on videos and gaming, Disney is their thing.

Fl minimum wage is also mandated to increase every year by a $1 to reach $15 an hour by Sept 2026 so I think they have also used that as an excuse to reason to raise prices. My husband got his haircut at the WDW Main Street barber shop yesterday and it was only $21. We were shocked it was so cheap TBH considering how much a drink and a snack cost.
