Ok, I'm usually all for celebrating holidays, it's just one of my specialties! :flower: However, I just received notice yesterday afternoon that I need to send treat bags to my 3yo dd's class at her new private school! Geez, thanks for the notice! :sad2: There are only 13 kids in the class, but I'm at a total loss. I know everyone else will probably be sending Easter eggs filled with candy, but I'd like to do something a little different! I am such a planner, and this is killing me! Can anyone give me some ideas?

Oh, keep in mind, the only decent store I have access to today is Super Walmart...and I'll be heading there during my lunch break! :hourglass Unfortunately, I don't have much time to prepare anything very unusual, since they are due tomorrow...and we're both sick....and I have to pack tonight to go out of town tomorrow...and Dad's working nights this week, so no help from him!

Thanks for any help!!

Maybe small packages of crayons and a little activity book?

I'm the room mother in my DD's Pre-k class along with one other Mom. The kids made Easter baskets and we are filling them with candy and I got them Easter Bunny straws. The other mom got little containers of play-dough. Sometimes we get them holiday pencils and erasers. I actually filled a jar with jelly beans (220) and brought it in yesterday so the kids will guess how many and the closest guess wins the jar. 3 is a little too young for that.

The holiday pencils with cute erasers are a great idea - I've done that, too. DD still has a few from past school goodie bags and she loves to use them (she's almost 6).

I usually put little toys in the kids' treat bags. Everyone will be giving candy and chocolates, it's nice to see toys in the bag.

DS's preschool kids love little bubble bottles, little slinkies, stickers, kazoos, whistles, coloring/activity books. Things like that. It doesn't have to be easter themed either. They couldn't care less.

Im here to second the bubbles and stickers. My DS is almost 4 and those are his favorites. We mostly throw all the candy out anyway.

Our neighborhood had their easter egg hunt last Sunday. The big winners were the bubbles, stickers and the eggs with money.

Good ideas! I wish there was something little & simple that my dd could help make for the bags too. I bought alot of those foam shapes (ducks, chickens, rabbits) last year on sale, and my dh has "organized" the basement since then. Needless to say, I can't find a thing! :sad2:

Just my two cents. A lot of the items I find that are placed in the goodie bags are choking hazards and unfortunately get put in the trash. Your kids might be old enough but someone else might have younger siblings at home. I always feel so guilty just dumping the stuff in the trash because I know the bags were put together with good intentions. So maybe stick with the crayons, stickers, coloring sheets, bubbles, pencils, stuff like that.

Put something REALLY anoying in the bag, so that someone complains, and then you don't have to do them next year!

Or, how about notepads! All kids like to waste paper!

We don't celebrate holidays like that in our kids school. That would not work in a primarily Jewish town. (although I can visualize matzoh in a baggie!) Of course that was me being silly!

Easter treats would never ever fly.

Actually, that's kind of my problem, they even wanted us to keep the "true Easter meaning" to the treat bags, if possible. I guess they can get away with it, since she goes to a private, Christian school! ;)

I love the idea of putting something annoying in the bags! :rotfl:

Peeps! Peeps always remind me of spring, and a baby chick is new life...

I would stay away from peanuts, since you dont really know if any of the kids in the class are anaphylactic to nuts.

"True Easter meaning", hmmmm. Make yours sinful! :)

In the misc small cheap toy section they have a 6 pack of mini fun dough (playdoh) for 88 cents that could work and be pretty fun

They do the Jellybean Guessing Game in my ds3's pre-k class, actually! Your room mother ideas sound great though! I like the play-doh idea... so much candy, it's nice to hear non-food alternatives!

::yes::

I would stick with usable or consumable items. Not only are little trinket toys choking hazards, they are clutter and end up in the trash.

DD just came home from her preschool with a goodie bag that we were all asked to contribute to. She has: Bubble Stuff, lollipop, individual sized chocolate bars, jelly beans, pencils, stretchy bunny toy and small maze puzzle (that is what I bought).

Last year I remember a lot of people brought stickers. Stickers are nice and easy and you can never have too many of those!!

My son just had his Spring Party at his pre-school today-he's 3. I had to make up the bags, here's what I put in them:

** 1 small can of Play-doh
** 1 Play-doh "accessory" these two came in a box on sale at Target, we'll keep the rest for outside play at home
** 1 small smiley face maze game with ball Dollar Store
** 1 bubble wand you just dip into water and blow Dollar Store
** 1 bag of Tigger fruit snacks on sale at Target this week
** 2 Smarties candies

I put these things into small paper bags that I got at Publix for free at the checkout and then put the kid's names on them and stamped them with cute "Spring-y" stamps.

My son opened his today after lunch and was most excited about the Play-doh and smarties. I knew that would happen, the other stuff I got was basically "filler".

I figure that I spent about 20 bucks on everything and the Play-doh had more than 9 things anyway so in the grand scheme of things, it wasn't that much at all.

Ok, this is what I've got so far... Mini play dough (made Jesus Loves Me label for them...), ice cream cone bubbles, stickers, and a glitter egg of candy. Oh, and I made the Jelly Bean Prayer, typed up & put on cardstock...will have my dd help glue the jelly beans on tonight. I may throw things in at the last minute, but this is it for now!

Thanks for all of the suggestions! :sunny:
