What do you miss on purpose?

There are a ton of "what not to miss" threads. I'd thought it would be interesting to get the other perspective... what you don't bother going on/seeing when you go and why.

We also have some that we have never tried because we don't think we'll like it but maybe we should!

Here our list of attractions we don't bother seeing and why:

1) IASW: I'm sorry but the lineup for this is SO long... and so is the ride! It takes forever and it's the same thing over and over and I want to throw myself off the boat and drown by the end. It's good to try once to see if you like it but we would likely never bother riding this one again and are happy to skip by it each time.
2)ITTBAB: My kids would hate the spiders and bugs so we've never done this ...should we?
3) Luigi's tires: This is one we've never tried before because honestly, it looks SO boring. Is it?
4) Dumbo: This ride, although a seemingly favorite of many also looks really boring. It looks like the cheap $2 kiddie rides I avoid at local fairs. I've been to Disney about 8x and never once rode. Sad?
5) Nemo's Sub: I went on this once as a kid (before it was Nemo) and fought mild claustrophobia most of the ride. I wouldn't mind actually trying this one again but am worried I'll hate it. Worth it?
6) Innoventions: Never been and haven't heard much good.
7) Captain EO: Never been
8) Star Tours: I got SO sick on this the one time I rode this as a teenager that I will never ride it again. My family has never tried it because of the fear I have instilled in them about this ride. :lmao:
9) Rocket Ride (whatever it's really called): Okay, so my reasons for not goin going on this one are completely unreasonable. It makes me mad WHERE this ride is . Right in the middle of the most congested part of the park. So I don't ride it. :rolleyes1
10) Fun Wheel: Too terrified! :scared1:
11) WOC: We made sure to do this our first trip with the kids based on all the rave reviews on here. We did the dinner with Fastpass option and honestly, it was so disorganized and poorly setup that I don't think we will try again until our youngest is taller. We waited for hours, standing because you can't sit down, and by the time the show started, we were tired, bored, squashed against the railing and ready to go home. The show was good and I'm glad we saw it once (although our kids couldn't see much) but I don't think I'll go through all that chaos again for a while.

Anyone else have a list?

The only thing permanently on my miss list is Innoventions. Not what it was. Not what it should be. Not even rotating anymore. I can see tech at Best Buy and I'm not into superhero characters. It just makes me sad for CoP and AS.

Definitely Captain Eo. I thought it was cool back in the 80s when it came out. But it's sooooo outdated, it's terrible. This for me is an Epic Fail for Disneyland. It wouldn't cost a whole lot to shoot another film like Tron or something else that would attract fans to come in and see. Why anyone would waste there time on MJ trying to act badd with a voice of little girl is beyond me.

I've never been on IASM, I've never been to Toon town or Captain EO.

I've been 3 times.

I miss the Black Widows in the Bug's Life show on purpose. I love the show but I have never seen the spiders! (The tarantula doesn't bother me.) It is easy to tell when you need to close your eyes.

I've never bothered with Captain EO.

And I haven't done Astro Orbitor, Casey Jnr Circus Train or the houses in Toon Town because i feel too old - i think they will have to wait until I have kids!

The one most will agree with: Innoventions. Gave it a chance; made me wonder, "They removed America Sings because it was 'outdated', and replaced it with THIS?!? THIS was outdated as soon as it debuted!" :rotfl: Seriously, it was a bad joke when it opened 1.5 decades ago...why is it still there???

The ones that will most likely cause others to want to throw rotten tomatoes at me: Indiana Jones (love the movies, hate the ride...irritates my bad back and I have a phobia of things jumping out at me (hellooooooo, skeleton room!); in DCA: the Toy Story ride (love the movies; too long of a line to wait in just to feel like throwing up due to the 3D/motion combo).

Honorable mention: the new Star Tours. This one makes me really sad; I love Star Wars & I loved the original Star Tours, and will sometimes still go on the new Star Tours just to see the wait area details & sit in the ride vehicle. But as soon as the 3D part begins, I have to look down at the floor to avoid getting sick

We skip:

1) Mickey's Fun Wheel (usually, anyway. My kids wanted to ride it last time we were there).

2) Nemo Submarines (we rode it once since the change - hubby and I had ridden it as the original when we were kids - and nobody in our family liked it enough to go again. Boring, boring, boring. Did I mention...boring?)

3) Tiki Room (I've actually NEVER been in the Tiki Room. I think DH took our kids in there once when they were tiny).

4) Great Moments w/Lincoln (This used to be one of our favorite things in the park...back when you wore the headphones, etc. But after they changed it, we all pretty much hated it. We did it once, but likely never again. I feel like they *ruined* it).

5) WOC (I watched it online and have zero desire to see it in person. My oldest is 22, my youngest is 9...there's no way I'm putting forth THAT kind of effort to watch bits of Disney cartoons I've endured a gazillion times over the years simply because they are projected onto water. Also, that opening song makes me want to gouge my eyes out with a fork...just sayin'.)

Other than those, we pretty much love everything. Some things we are less impressed with (Innovations, Autopia, Captain EO...) but we still make time to see or do them at least once usually during our visit.

Pfft, Captain EO haters. I saw it three times last time we went.

One that no one has mentioned yet- the TEA CUPS. No thanks! I won't even try them!

Innoventions is just strange. My husband actually loves Autopia, but I didn't enjoy the line, lol.

WOC- We saw it when it first opened and we weren't impressed. Tried it again 2 weeks ago and we left half way through it.

Astro Orbiter- DH will ride it with the kids, once in awhile, if there is no line, but I pass. I rode it once when DS was little and I was sick as a dog the rest of the day.

Blue Bayou- Used to eat there once every trip, but the last couple of times the food was awful, so we took it off our list.

Canoes- Did them once and that was enough.

Gadget's Go Coaster and Goofy's Sky School- DS is 6'6 and doesn't fit comfortably in the cars.

You couldn't pay me or DH to ride the Silly Symphony Swings again, but my kids enjoy them.

We avoid the Nemo submarines every chance we get. Too long of a wait for such a claustrophobic ride. We've also never been to the island.

Captain Ew is the only thing I have not done even once.

Things I've tried once and won't try again:
Mickey and the Magical Map
Astro Orbiter

Things I've tried a few times and don't ever care to do again:
Roger Rabbit
It's Tough to Be a Bug
Goofy's Sky School
Innoventions
Luigi's Flying Tires

We skip:

-Mickey's Toontown (once was enough. My family has no young kids so there is no reason why we'd put ourselves through that)
-Finding Nemo (me and my mom get claustrophobic and I nearly panicked, it was awful)
-Mr. Toad (I find the ride incredibly stupid and not worth any wait)
-Bugs Land (All it is to me is a shortcut between Cars Land and Tower of Terror)
-Winnie the Pooh (the motion makes me feel sick, even though I love rollercoasters and such)

Other than that, we pretty much do everything! I can't fathom why anyone would skip WoC, it is my all time favorite show, better than the Fireworks and better (slightly) than Fantasmic! It's not about the projections, the things they do with the fountains and how FREAKING HIGH THEY GO is absolutely incredible. I cannot get enough of that show. And it is so cool to see it from different angles and note the differences. I've seen it a million times and would see it a million more. Okay, rant done.
As for Astro Orbiters (the rocket ride by Tomorrowland), well... we had a magical moment there on our last trip, I can't even describe how amazing it was, and so now we look fondly on that ride and remember it. I posted about it in the August thread, but I could never hate that ride now after the SUPER RAD cast member who was working it when we went. Anyway. I guess that's just us, the ride itself isn't spectacular.
I also find the Tiki room boring but it's a classic and I loved it when I was little so I do it anyway. Plus, the Dole Whips are fantastic.
Not trying to disagree or pick a fight or anything, these are just my opinions.

I am dividing my answers into 2 parts...mine and family.

Family:
-Capt EO....nope, never, was never a huge fan of MJ anyway.
-Innoventions...did it once, felt it was time wasted.
-Great Moments...nope, never did it and never plan to.
-Canoes....we can do this at home

Mine:
-Chip and Dales tree house.....blah, but kids love going through it.
-Matterhorn.....this ride kills my back, but rest of family love it!
-Story Book Canal...once was enough for me (although I do ride it every time we go)
-Goofy's Sky School...make hubby go on this with the kids..did it once, never again!
-Tarzans Tree House..I prefer to eat my skewer while the kids explore this!

Captain eo, star tours, small world, parade.....

I would also miss haunted mansion holiday but I live the haunted mansion (original) so I will suffer through the nbc theme

We don't miss anything on purpose but we have an uncanny ability, almost a super power, to skip a ride on one trip saying "ahh, we'll catch it next time" and have it be closed for a lengthy refurb the next time we go! BTMRR, Finding Nemo and now in October Mark Twain - all were "skipped" and then - POOF! - closed for a year! :rotfl2: If anyone wants to know a future refurb schedule just get in touch with me after late October and I'll tell you which ride we skipped that trip!! :rotfl:

Spinning rides - Dumbo, Carousel (both), Swings (what are those called?), Atro-Orbitor, Golden Zepher, Tea Cups.

Submarines - I do the Alt. Experience

We always skip
Captain Eo...once was enough for us
Gadgets Go Coaster....again, once was enough for my kids
Matterhorn... no interest in it before it was renovated and now I hear how bumpy it is. My back couldnt handle it.
Autotopia...again, my back can't do it. Last time I rode my entire leg went numb from the vibration.
Astro Orbitors...never been. No interest in going.

Rides we do every few trips-
Dumbo...only ride is the line is short (almost never) or if it pops up on one of the kids must ride lists (almost never!)
Ride over to the island...we only do this when its super busy and we have nothing to do
Mark Twain and Columbia...again, more of a time filler
Pixie Hollow...I hate the wait but DD loves the fairies so we have agreed on visiting them once a year (we go average of 3 times a year).
