What do you miss on purpose?

Have the people that find Mr. Toad dumb ever seen The Wind in the Willows?

Motormania is very serious, folks.

We don't miss anything on purpose but we have an uncanny ability, almost a super power, to skip a ride on one trip saying "ahh, we'll catch it next time" and have it be closed for a lengthy refurb the next time we go! BTMRR, Finding Nemo and now in October Mark Twain - all were "skipped" and then - POOF! - closed for a year! :rotfl2: If anyone wants to know a future refurb schedule just get in touch with me after late October and I'll tell you which ride we skipped that trip!! :rotfl:

Mark twain is closed in October? Noooooo!

Tea Cups and Star Tours because they make me sick.
Dumbo and astro orbitor... Just look boring
Captain EO- This one needs no explanation. It especially irks me because I loved Honey I Shrunk the Audience.
Storybook land Canal and Jungle Cruise... Didn't like them when I was a kid, so they are not nostalgic for me.
WOC... I just can't bring myself to put up with all the time and effort it takes to see the show.

My family skips POC (not one of us likes it at all), Holiday Haunted Mansion (do NOT get this overlay at all, not even my daughter who is obsessed with Jack) and IASW except at Christmas (now there's a holiday overlay we love).

I skip Space Mountain (it makes me sick now) and now TOT (was a favorite until it made me feel ill) but my girls love both.

Most of the Fantasyland rides, it's just crazy crowded always over there and we can do so much more in the time it would take to do one of those rides. Matterhorn is a take it or leave it, if my kids want to ride, we do but my back prefers not to. We will do Teacups on occasion (but skipped this last trip), Dumbo and Carosaul if it's not crazy. Always do It's a Small World, my kids love it. We hit Fairies, Royal Hall and Theatre early on one day then pretty much stay out of that area.

Don't do Moments with Mr. Lincoln.

I used to skip Tomorrowland entirely save for Space Mountain but I now have a boy and he could spend all day there. I've gained an appreciation for it threw his eyes. Couldn't tell you where the entrance to Captain EO is, never have, probably never will do Astor Orbitor. We only went to Innovations so the boy could meet Thor (what a miserable wait but well worth his excitement). I just can't do Nemo, got to the front of the line then backed out. Can hardly breathe thinking about it.

We love Adventureland except for the congestion but skip the Tiki Room because my Hubby promptly falls asleep. He snores so that wouldn't be fair to the other guests. Never had a Dole Whip, doesn't even sound appealing.

I remember doing the Shooting Gallery as a kid but we always skip right over it. I don't think my kids even know it's there. Canoes, no, can't ever see doing this. Haven't been to the Island since I was a kid. We always say we're going to but never make it. Sailing Ship Columbia is never running when I'm there.

I will not ever stake out a spot for hours to see parades, shows or fireworks. Twenty, thirty minutes is my limit for this. Fortunately in Disneyland there's usually a decent spot to be had for these. DCA, not so much. Did WOC once and probably won't ever do it again unless they redo the viewing area at some point.

Paradise Pier we only do California Screaming, Toy Story Midway Mania and sometimes Goofy's Sky School.

Usually skip Bug's Land altogether.

Always skipped Redwood Creek Forest Trail until this last trip, what a pleasant surprise!

Never done Luigi's Tires.

Avoid that Tron thing and Mad Tea Party in DCA like the plague! Obnoxiously loud and so un Disneylike to me.

Heres our list of ones we skip:

Peter Pan- line is too long and slow
Mr Toads- same
Alice- line is usually too long
Toon town- completely skip now that the kids are older
Canoes- done once, that's enough
Storybook Land- never liked
Circus Train- never liked
Dumbo- line is too long
Astro ORbiter-hate trying to get in and out of those
Mr Lincoln- never done
Star Tours- kids sometimes do, dh and I get sick on it

DCA-
Zephyr- just not worth stopping for
Some of the bugs land rides we skip.
Mickeys Wheel of Death- skip
Dh and I skip the swings, Goofys sky school and
Jumpin Jellyfish... kids usually ride them though.
Kids skip A Bug Life show after being traumatized
when they were litte. Dh and I like to see it though.

I agree. Also don't care for Innoventions, but DD tells me she went through it fairly recently. Other than that, if we had unlimited time, I think we would do EVERYTHING.

/
Parades- I think the last time I actually stood and watched a parade was for the Electrical Parade at WDW when I was a kid. Now I use the parades as a chance to go ride more things while others take a break with the show.
Goofy's Sky School- Wild Mouse-type coasters make me ill. No thanks :(
Dumbo- Never been on, no desire too
Carousel- Nothing personal here, just no real reason without small kids
Toon Town- Boring for me
It's Tough To Be a Bug- Does anyone /really/ enjoy this attraction? I can't stand it when you get stabbed by the bugs.
Bugs Land- Again, not for me. If I had kids, that would be another story.
Innoventions- Meh.
Captain EO- No real desire to see this.
Astro Orbiter- Just never bothered with it
Autotopia- I've never really enjoyed car rides like this
Mr. Lincoln- I didn't even know where this was until my last trip >.>
Tom Sawyer/Pirate Island- Meh.

My friend and I also tend to skip Fantasyland in general, though every now and then we go for a dark attraction or two. Too busy riding the mountains as much as possible.

I can't imagine not doing IASW! :faint: ;) It's truly my all time favorite.

Captain EO is one we miss on purpose. We've done it and its not something we need to do every trip or every other trip.

I have a relatively short list:

1. Peter Pan - What are people rushing into the park to see this for? Without a doubt the most agonizing 50 minutes that I want back in my life.

2. Toon Town - This land needs to be blown up and turned into either a current day version more in line with Mickey Mouse Clubhouse or at the very least some shadey trees need to be added. Hot asphalt and screaming kids in a confined space is a recipe for disaster. (A little caveat to this point - I still go to it but just to see Mickey and Minnie's houses.)

3. PotC and HM - Don't know why I dislike these but I have since I was a kid and all in all I just find them a little creepy, boring and pointless.

Rides and Attractions that I personally avoid (my husband takes the kids on the ones I don't enjoy, while I snap pictures...)
- Captian EO
- Davy Crockett's Explorer Canoes
- Great Moment's with Mr. Lincoln
- ALL Bug's Land rides!!!
- Gadget's Go Coaster
- Muppet Vision 3D
- Storybook Land Canal Boats

Haha when I saw this thread title I already knew Captain EO would be mentioned by most, which I still can't grasp, :confused3 as I think it was one of the best 3D shows.:rolleyes1 I would take Captain EO over the new Star Tours...buuut it was part of my childhood memories at DLand so I'm biased;)
Currently I skip:
1)the treehouse- I only recall only climbing once when I was a child...but it brings a nice ambiance to Adventure Land
2)jungle cruise-I just never feel motivated enough to stand in line for this one
3)Mickey's wheel in DCA- not a fan of ferris wheels in general
4)Haunted Mansion- haven't been on in a longgg time, not trying to return anytime soon
5)Tea Cups- cute ride, haven't been on since a child, no desire to ride
6)Mr Toads-I respect it for its story but again no desire to ride again
7)Autotopia- stinky ride, but it's a classic and appeals to the kiddies, but the gas fumes are too much

We don't intentionally skip anything. Although, due to time, we do miss things. Probably Innoventions is up there on things I'm less willing to take time for. Otherwise, we end up doing as much as possible.

For those that don't like the wait for WOC, I recommend the bridge for a viewing point. Usually can get a spot there pretty close to show time, and the CM we were standing beside let our kids and an adult under the rope to walk around the area while we waited and held the spot. It was a great time.

For those that think the spinners look boring, I think Dumbo and Astro are GREAT at night. Such a nice view with the park lit up, and the breeze feels great, and its a nice relaxing end of the day ride. The Orbiters are also not just some boring spinner - them babies go fast...you gots to hold on!!

Always skipped Redwood Creek Forest Trail until this last trip, what a pleasant surprise!

Okay, so I've NEVER heard of this! We'll definitely have to try this in December. I forgot to mention that we've never actually done GRR either. I just don't feel likely being drenched and uncomfortable for the rest of the day.

They are across from each other, so I'm not surprised you missed it. We did not spend a whole lot of time there but will definitely carve out a decent amount of time on the next trip. My kids absolutely loved it.

I think this was our biggest pleasant surprise of our first DLR trip. I had no clue it existed when we found it. It was such a nice spot to let the kids really run loose and relax. They had such a good time just playing and the adults were able to rest too. It totally reenergized our entire group for the day. When we went back we made a point to hit it when the kids started getting whiny and having melt downs. It was perfect.

We actually love "It's Tough to be a Bug":3dglasses! One of Dh's favs. We like Bug's Land. Here are mine I like to avoid:
Autopia- hate it
Canoe Boats- No way, too much work!
Gadgets
Goofy's Sky School
Jumpin Jellyfish
Fun Wheel
Innovations
Captain EO
Mad Tea Party-My Niece, Aunt, and Nephew loved it and bought hats and went everynight. No thanks! Way too loud for me!

One I won't go to again, and you all mostly will disagree with me and think I'm crazy is Aladdin. Too campy for me, thought it would be more serious and I didn't like the modern jokes! :confused3

ALL Bug's Land rides? What about Heimlich's Chew Chew? You can't be included that! It's one of my favorite rides in the resort.

Yeah! You think you're better than everyone :) How can you not laugh at that ride. "I hope I don't gadow a vatah melon in my tummy".

We skip:

2) Nemo Submarines (we rode it once since the change - hubby and I had ridden it as the original when we were kids - and nobody in our family liked it enough to go again. Boring, boring, boring. Did I mention...boring?)

This made me laugh out loud, our sentiments exactly!

My husband is also 6'3" and for him to see through the portholes he'd have to lean forward, so far forward that his face would be pretty much up against the glass. Not fun for him at all! My kids didn't like waiting in that line in the sun either, and my son scratched his arm on the narrow stairs so they associate the Nemo ride with negative things.

As far as rides/shows we skip on purpose, that's it. There are plenty of things we don't prioritize, like Captain EO (even though I loved it as a kid), the monorail, Toontown, and Innoventions, though.
