What do you like at Boathouse? Dislike?

I get the lobster roll, every time. DH orders something different most times. This is a “must do” spot for us. We have always had great service and great food.

We went about two weeks ago. The bread and crabcakes were great.

My husband had a burger that was a wet, drippy mess with unseasoned ground beef. He gets sit-down restaurant burgers at other places all the time, but this one was off.

I had a side order of mac & cheese, which is also available for $12 per bowl. I love mac & cheese in all forms, but this one was really bland and dull. It looked like it had been sitting in the kitchen for a while, because the top was slightly dried out. The sauce was thin, and needed to be stirred back into the pasta. The all-purpose season salt on the table helped the flavor a little.

I sent a private message to the restaurant after the meal. The restaurant acknowledged my message, so at least someone read it.

We've been several times.....too loud.
The last time (and it was the last time) they messed my order up 3 times.
DH was long done and the food was always just okay

Ok, to answer my own question. I had an average experience there last week.

Bread was crazy good!
Crab cake was over cooked.
Duck Duck Razz was tasty.
Service was good.

Filet Mignon Sliders are excellent and a good value. Although I noticed the price has increased recently. They are one of the most popular and well known items.

Oysters from the raw bar are also very, very good.
Was just looking into a place to get oysters are they really 5$ a piece tho that seems crazy

The Boathouse was a fav for the man and I. We tended to get oysters from the raw bar, have a drink, and that was it. Should the Florida oysters be listed as a special, ignore them as they taste muddy.

When our traveling kiddos were with us and we were having dinner, they ordered the regular fried seafood or burgers and we tended to get either the firecracker shrimp or hoisin calamari; all the dishes were worth the time spent there.

If you want less noise ask for a seat on the patio or the back bar on the water. Easy to carry on a conversation.

Not a fan of their desserts as they are too big for one but great for sharing. Normally, we went across the road for some gelato.

Could well be 🙄.
I bypassed Boathouse this time (just back from a stay that started 4th of July) as it was a girls trip and I was the only oyster lover.
I will say if I had gone there is no way I’d of had any oysters at that price!

They were 4 bucks just last year, I gasped at seeing the price increase. Still, I consider this one of the better meals you can have.

I realize maybe the transportation costs are more than NYC but for instance bluepoints can be had in this city for probably 3 bucks max during happy hours. I luvvv the cuke mignonette but but - gulp. ☹️

And yes, the atmosphere, food and drinks made this a place the man and I looked forward to eating at. Maybe I need a few drinks before looking at the check 😜

I usually eat at the bar when there. Last time someone ordered the drink they put a rubber ducky in and all of a sudden everyone on my side of the bar had one in front of them. I have never felt rushed, ignored etc at Boathouse. Something I can't say for a lot of other restaurants at Disney.

My biggest complaint is the fries. I HATE shoestring fries. Hate them with a burning passion. But any place that services shoestring gets that treatment.

I will say the menu and bar menu has been simplified and downgraded since it first opened. So that is another disappointment.

It seems like the Boathouse at Disney Springs is at the top of many’s must do dining lists.

If so, what do you recommend off the lunch menu?

Anything you wouldn’t get again?
On our last visit there I loved the main Lobster tail & the wife loved the fillet mignon. We both also thought the macadamia turtle pie sharer was very tasty & the sauces with it really delicious.

I tried the Shrimp Boil for the first time in April, and it was delicious. My go to is usually the Cedar Planked Salmon, which is also wonderful.

If it's not too hot, I prefer to sit out on the deck, it's usually quiet, and if you can time it, you can eat dinner and watch the sunset over the water!

We have gone there many times and have never been disappointed either by the food or the service. Always high end and quality. I have nothing that I would not get again. However, we have never eaten lunch there, only dinners.

I include Boathouse in the category of 'mediocre restaurants I can go to anywhere', except the prices are heinous.

I don't have a huge problem with the restaurant prices at Disney unless they aren't worth it. My faves are Topolino's, Jiko, Tiffins.

Boathouse served me the smallest piece of swordfish I've ever seen. I've eaten there twice and I wouldn't classify anything there as above average.

Sure, the place is pretty, looks like a fun spot.

Paying over $200 for dinner is acceptable, having to stop elsewhere to get something to eat afterwards is not.

Love Boathouse. It’s a must do for us every trip.

The firecracker shrimp are amazing, although they have jumped in price in the last couple years. The burger and the seafood boil are fantastic.

The Mac n cheese is some of the best around. They also offer a spicier version of it which is not on the menu. Highly recommend it.

We usually do lunch here, as it is quieter and the menu is the same.

Honestly the seafood mac and cheese was like Kraft's. The one Millers Ale House used to do was 100x better

If you are at a restaurant and get something you really don't like, it's tiny, you have to stir it, no seasoning, etc., just request something else. It's easier for them to replace your meal than to try to make up for your disappointment the rest of the meal. They can fix it.

Things you can't fix there: it's busy, it's noisy. When I walked in and saw the crowds, I requested outside. When they led me to a really terrible table, I requested another. I ended up having a nice meal with good service and would go back.

I feel that because it has become so revered it has lost some appeal to us. We have gone at least a handful of times since 2016 and it was always high on our list of favorites at DS. The last experience felt too crowded, too rushed. The heard of people at the hostess stand trying to check in was stifling. We waited a long time for our table despite having an ADR and checking in early. Servers seemed too busy and too stressed to provide a relaxing dining experience. Tables felt tight together. Other diners seemed agitated. Food was just ok. I know, probably just an off-night. We will likely try again. Our most memorable trip was a lunch on the deck.
