What do you inexplicably hate?

Grownups using the words mummy and daddy unless they are talking to a small child.
Saw a trip report recently where a woman was taking her 20 year old daughters to NYC and calling it a mommy daughter trip.
Also saw a true crime documentary last month where lady referred to her killer dad as daddy for an hour.

As for the grandparent names, I can't stand Memaw. However, I also am aware that kids can have multiple sets of grandparents and great-grandparents and therefore need different names to distinguish them. My granddaughters for example have me & DH, my ex and his wife, plus 2 sets on the other side. Yes, we all have different names!

I think Memaw is a regional name for grandma in the South. When we lived in the south, there were alot of memaw's around, so it must be regional. I had never heard of it before.

Yes, each family does it differently. I’d feel like we’d somehow slipped into an episode of Little House on the Prairie if my son ever tried to call me Mama. It’s very uncommon here. So I guess that would make the title fair game for a grandparent, although nobody I’ve ever known uses it that way either.

I’m uncomfortable with the idea of our kids’ spouses calling us Mom and Dad, nor could I ever bring myself to call DH’s parents that. We all have perfectly good first names and that’s what I prefer.

I am Polish so Mom is stranger then Mama. And Babcia is grandma. That is how my kids refer to their grandma. My daughters, who are 20 & 21 now, still call me Mama.

People using the non-existent "word" alot. Allot is a word, and a lot is a vague quantifier, but alot doesn't exist. Don't you see that when you type it, a red line pops up? For the love of God, just quit.

I am going to add to that, people coming up with words because they are too lazy to actually learn the proper word that already exists. I am looking at you "conversate".

Oh my word. So, yes, I can and I muted it after reading this. I am having to retrain my brain because it is SO WEIRD with no beeps.

When someone rinses their dish but doesn't rinse the sink after.
When my dh leaves the windshield wipers on after it's stops raining.
Loud chewing. 23andme says I shouldn't be bothered by it but they are so wrong.
