What do you get for Valentines Day for your kids?

We are going to Disney in August so Valentines day and Easter are both going to contain disney trip items.
I have gotten her sunglasses, flip-flops, 3 new Disney tshirts and a cute tinkerbell purse all for her trip this summer. She is also getting princess DSi game if I can find one and some kind of peanut butter/chocolate candy. I also want to find a cute inital necklace (had one ordered from Disney but they ran out as soon as I ordered it I guess) and some cute Disney earrings.

Maybe it would be dlievered during a party. On Valentine's Day our school is delivering candygrams (were sold in school) to students and teachers, the whole day is going to be full of disruptions.

We dont do much but again not for any of the holidays/birthday that most people do.

I have a little bag of candy (a bigger kiss, some mini PB cups and a new snickers PB2) for each and will make a special family dinner.:goodvibes

I try to make the day really special because it's FEBRUARY in the snow belt!

It's subzero wind chill today.

Yuk! We need the cheer!

DH buys DD roses each year. They coordinate with her grade in school. (I don't remember what happened in kindergarten, but I know she started getting one in first grade.) So, she'll receive her first dozen roses from her daddy (and hopefully from anyone!) when she is a senior. He also buys her a box of chocolates and a balloon.

I keep it simple, I have heart boxes with some candy in it lined up for all 4 of them when they wake up. They take valentines to school and sometimes I make treats for their class parties.
For dinner, we either order Chinese take out or pizza, followed by ColdStone chocolate cake since it is also my birthday;)

I highly doubt any schools "disrupt" classes over delivered Valentines

At our school MOST kids get something delivered to them at school during the day. It is left in the office, we sort them by grade/room, and around 2:30 we deliver them to the rooms. It is a HUGE day for florists here - they are in and out of the office all day dropping off bouquets, candy, and stuffed animals. My kids will be getting the items I mentioned earlier at home but will be getting a small thing of candy (sold by someone at school to raise money for a school fund.)

At my kids' schools, they aren't allowed to receive deliveries of ANY kind. It's the district wide policy. It's partially b/c of the disruption and partly b/c I think they don't want anyone left out or hurt by it. We live in a small town and they're really into making all of the kids feel special all of the time, no one kid more than another.

They even announce "half-birthdays" for kids that have a summer birthday.

in my district, your teacher would get a call that there is something waiting for you in the office and you could go get it during lunch/off period or between classes if you were nearby. i loved when my mom dropped stuff off - even if it was just an envelope or something not fun (immunization records, etc, lol) because she put a sweet note in it, wishing me a good day.

for valentine's day, my mom always gets us big hershey's kisses. she gave me mine about 3 weeks early though, since i had to be back at school the last week of january. i may have already started munching on it :rolleyes1

dbf and i do gifts. he got me wine (which i don't like.. lol) and chocolate last year. this year, i got him a personalized dopey doll and a card. we're going away for the weekend so we'll celebrate a few days early.

My kids' schools don't allow deliveries either.

That's nice that they worry about kids being left out. I do wish ours just gave tickets or something so the kids who got things could come by and pick it up on their way out. Some kids get HUGE things and others get none. I will be getting my "christmas angel" something - I know she won't get anything otherwise. I know one teacher keeps a box of plushes and when her kids go to PE she puts out the gifts that got delivered to her room, if a child didn't get anything they get a toy from her.

My kids are away at college, so I do more than I did when they were home. For DD DH is dropping off a big basket tomorrow night full of candy, snacks, some spring tops, and flip flops. My two boys go to a different school than DD, but they are together. Oldest DS is coming home Friday as he has an internship interview here in town. I will give him to take back for each of them (they don't live together) a large plastic bin full of candy and snacks, a bottle coozie with their school logo, and they each are getting a Lacoste polo. I worked a lot of OT last month so I ended up spending a little over $100 each. I really enjoyed putting there gift packs together.

That is soo sweet :) Talk about going above and beyond the call of duty. She deserves an award.

I've done a variety of things for my DS and now for my DD 10 months. Last year I wrote DS a poem and wrote it on pink paper and then framed it. I also gave him a box of surprises like felt pens, paper a couple books etc... (My DH and I were at the Olympics so he was with Grandma and Grandpa so I made sure he had plenty to do!).

This year we are on a tight budget because of our upcoming DW trip (187 days!!!). I spent less than $5 on each child. I got my son a heart notebook, some heart sticky notes, some neat pens, and a heart sucker (he likes to write and draw!). For DD I got her a little red porcelain piggy bank with pink hearts on it and a Disney Princess ball (her first one!).

In addition I am stealing the idea of making a fun breakfast and then I will be making a dinner for our family. I bought heart shaped balloons and am going to inflate them with helium and for dinner I am making a roast with Yorkshire pudding and mashed potatoes. For dessert I am making heart shaped rice krispie squares with half dipped in chocolate.

Wow!! :goodvibes
What a wonderful and thoughtful teacher....more of our students should be so lucky!! :lovestruc
She sounds like a very special person...in and out of the classroom, I bet! :thumbsup2

I'm going to cook something special for breakfast. Send them to school with heart-shaped window sandwiches. And something special for dinner & dessert.

Our almost 12 year old daughter is getting multi-color flowers in a red vase ($ store), with a silver heart necklace (ardene's) around the vase. Also a small heart-shaped box ($ store) filled with candy hearts from Bulk Barn.

Our son however... I'm stumped!! He's turning 7 in a couple of months. He's also getting the small heart-shaped box filled with a treat. But I'm not sure what else. I just can't seem to think of anything special, yet cheap.

I am giving DD10 much needed hair elastics, clips and barettes (love that you can give a girl what she needs and she will be happy...2 for 1 :woohoo: ) DD9 will get a mini ugly doll to hang from his backpack and a mini hexbug

I got my dd16 a new Mickey watch with tiny diamonds around the face. My ds13 a new PS3 game(plus he has b-day in a week) he wanted and my dd3 some princess books and heading to walmart to pick up a few little things. I may also get them a disney GC for our trip in April.
