What do you get for Valentines Day for your kids?

Mine are getting the Hershey's Solid Milk Chocolate "XOXO" gift box. It's their favorite chocolate.

:lovestruc

I usually don't do much but this year I was feeling spendy so I bought them each a pair of PJs for their American Girl dolls. I will also buy each of them a medium size Russell Stovers heart and a card. For hubby I think an Itunes gift card and a sappy love note

nothing! We don't buy the kiddos anything for valentines day.
Hubby and I exchange a little trinket (hopefully he will be getting me the Pandora charm I've been hinting for) and we have a heart themed dinner.
The kids and I will make heart shaped cupcakes when they get home from school.
Then I will make heart shaped burgers and red mashed potatoes for dinner.

I have a teenage boy, will get him some favorite snacks and an itunes card. I'll get hubby some of his favorite candy!

I do $10 or less for the girls, so far I've found cute buckets, some socks and a few random candies for them. I've spent maybe $3 so far on each of them. :) I am going to get a couple more small things but not sure exactly what yet. I need to have it done by Thursday tho, we have plans all weekend and I won't be able to do it then. :)
For DBF I will get a card, a box of Fun Dip candy (his absolute favorite ever, well really, just the sticks LOL) and maybe an iTunes gift card for $25, I haven't decided on that yet. :) I used to send him something at work, one year I did flowers, another I did choc. covered strawberries, another I did a cookie bouquet, but that's so $$ that it's something we decided to stop doing when I lost my job. For dinner that night....I'm not sure what we will do......maybe I'll do the red or heart themed meal ideas. :)

We try to always do handmade items for Valentine's Day. One year it was the crayon roll up carriers and another the pillows filled with rice and lavendar for tummy aches, growing pains etc. This year we are doing the Family Fun fleece animal scarves and the monster hats for the boys and an animal scarf and the gloves with the flower rings for our little girl. I found the hats/gloves on clearance and had a coupon for the fleece. Our son also loves the personalized word searches and crosoword puzzles from puzzlemaker so we will do some of those as well. Last year I managed to make a knock off of the Pottery Barn chair packs to put each kid's gift in. Just found them last night in the box of Valentine's Decorations!

Card, a Hershey Valentine candy bar, balloon or two from Dollar Tree and a cpl of bookmarks, he is really getting into reading lately and he needs bookmarks. DS game Kingdom of Hearts and maybe a new book, if I can find a Valentine themed one in his age range. Mostly Valentine books are for the younger kiddos.

Red heart shaped pancakes for breakfast and heart shaped pizza for dinner with some sort of valentine cookies .

I don't do a lot for Valentine's. This year I think I am going to get each of my boys a new water bottle (they also will need them for soccer) and filling them with candy (or buying a small chocolate box of candy for them). :)

I like reading your responses! :)

Oh, I like this idea! My kids need water bottles for spring anyway :thumbsup2

My mom used to bake heart-shaped sugar cookies in all different sizes. She has a set of heart cutters, the smallest is about 1", the largest probably 6". I always loved those.

We usually do a little something $15 or under. Last year DD got a musical Hannah Montana blanket for her bed...this year we found some Mario stuff on 50% off clearance at Target, so DS will be getting one of those things (the rest will be stashed for birthday)...

But DD is in desperate need of "pretty" headbands, so that's what her valentine will be this year :)

I've always done individual things for each of the kids (heart shaped box of candy and something like a Webkinz, DS game, etc...) However, that gets expensive AND the "something" usually ended up in the donation box 6 mos to a year later. This year I decided that DD is the only one who really *likes* stuffed toys (and she has too many LOL) so I got one large box of candy, an Epic Mickey Wii game (Had $26 TRU rewards dollars applied to it so I got it inexpensively) and a Disney Monopoly game that I got during the B2G1 free Hasbro deal before Christmas.

My mom has always bought them each something too so I am going to let hers be the one to go to school (we always have some sort of fundraiser where they deliver a small gift to the room - she usually gets them each one.)

ETA - the candy, Wii game, and Monopoly will be a shared gift to all the kids. DH and I don't really do Vday, occasinally he sends me flowers but I told him he didn't have to this year. Honestly, it makes me a tad ill to see $120 worth of roses dying in a week.

I make each of my grown children and my daughter in law, homemade heart shaped pizzas with the toppings they like. My grandson gets his own pizza too plus homemade heart shaped frosted sugar cookies. My daughter, who is away at college, gets a Fannie May heart of candy and my frosted heart cookies. I like making edible goodies for Valentines Day because the thought of shopping for "things" so soon after Christmas, is not too appealing, imo. ;)

Nothing. I despise Valentine's Day so we don't celebrate it.

I know some people that go all out and do a whole basket of "stuff" and others that don't do anything. What do you do?

I don't do much stuff and not much candy, but I got some stamps,. stickers, pencils from the dollar spot at target and a little basket for them to go in. I also got some red/pink/white m&ms. And I'll take them to Sonic for slushes after school on Valentines day (half price from 2-4)

DD12 will get earrings, new book by favorite author, cell phone glitter stickers, mini lego set and candy...

I make cupcakes and cherry jello parfaits. Hubby stops at the big candy factory and fills small heart shaped boxes with each of the kiddos favorite candy...gummy worms, truffles, turtles, and gummy bears. He fills me a BIGGER box with lots of my favorite chocolates:love: We have an awesome candy factory near that has a 20-something foot chocolate fountain and all the candy you could imagine!

DD (5) goes out to dinner with us for Valentine's day.

I used to get her one of the heart shaped boxes of chocolate but she gets so much candy from everyone else I don't think I will this year.

I picked up a Zhu Zhu pet on clearance after Christmas to give her. I also have a couple small Disney Fairy items, I may give her one of those or hold them for Easter.

I spend about $10 on DD for Vday. We only eat out a few times a year so that is a big deal.

This is giving me a good idea...I already started buying some little things to put away for Hanukkah so I can just use some of those! Hmmm...now I have to go through everything, LOL.

I'll also look around at Five Below and Target (they're both nearby).

IDK what i'll do this year since my kids range from 14 - 19 yrs old. But what i have done every year since before they could read was send them on a " wild goose chase" as we call it. What i do is (for each kid) write a set of clues ( or before they could read drew simple pictures). The first clue i would hand to them and it would direct them to the 2nd location in which would be the next clue. I usually would send them up and down the stairs and basement stairs as many times as i could without running out of spots. lol The last clue would generally send them to their bed and under their pillow would be a box of conversation hearts. ( which they love love love) It would be difficult getting creative each year. Sometimes ( depending on their age and understanding) i would write riddles for them to solve to discover their next clue location. Or i would write the clue in a circle or backwards to where they would have to read them in the mirror. Depending on my creative juices at the time, i would write in rhyme. This year i might just buy them small box of chocolates and idk, give to them for dinner or something lol. I've kinda run out of places in the house.

Our Valentines Day tradition is belgium waffles for dinner with strawberries and whipped cream. I give our dd's and dh a card and candy. When the dd's were little I'd add in a small toy or stuffed animal but haven't in a few years.
