What do you do with your carseats?

If we fly in to MCO and take the bus to WDW, can we bring our carseats for our toddlers? We need them to take a rental car from WDW to the port and from the port to MCO. What do we do with them while on the cruise? Will we have to bring them to our staterooms?

You would have to store the carseats in your stateroom. Also, since you cannot use the carseats on the bus, they would have to go below in the cargo area with the luggage. Have you considered borrowing the carseats from the rental car company? I know you can add them to your rental from most companies (as well as booster seats later on when they grow out of them) so you don't have to carry them. Of course, this assumes you don't need them for the plane - not sure of your kids ages.

Thanks for the response.
The kids are going to be 3 1/2 and almost 2. It would be nice to have them on the plane. I just hate to waste $52 on carseat rental fees thru the rental car company. :headache:
We have 2 staterooms, so I guess we can fit them ok??

What is the earliest flight out of MCO we should take to go home post cruise?

Yeah, I hear you - at that age I kept my kids in their seats on the plane, too!
The earliest that I've ever taken out of MCO is 11:30 - we've been fortunate to make it into port on time every cruise and didn't have problems getting to the airport, regardless of taking rental car, bus, towncar, etc. But, I will say that one time we took SWA home and the line was literally about 2 hours long to check-in. I know that elapsed time because we couldn't check-in right away because we weren't flying out until later in the day, so we sat in the terminal and timed some of the people winding through the line (yes, we were hard up for a time-passing activity!)

With 2 rooms, you'll be able to store the seats with no problem.

I have become to rely on Disney transportation, so why do you need to rent a car? I know you get charged from WDW to port and port to MCO, but with car rental and parking at the port probably cost about the same. I have left the car seats behind.

We had a car seat on our last cruise (wanted it for the plane ride) and we were able to store it in the closet without any problems.
This time we will have two seats (for on the plane and in the town car), but thankfully we have family traveling with us too in another stateroom and we can throw one of the seats in their closet too :)

We just got back from the Dream and had the carseat for DS since he is 18 months and had a seat on the plane...we took a private car to the port so we needed it then as well. Upon arrival at the port, the CM took the carseat to a special handling area...I guess so it would not be tossed with the luggage. We stored it in the closet with no problem at all. I really think two would fit..there is more than enough room

You can always store one in the bathtub if need be. That's what I did on Cunard a few years ago. We only use the shower for max 30 minutes each day, so we take it out when we need to shower, then when we're done, we wipe it down and put the seat back.

Why couldn't you just leave them in the rental car when you park at port?

We stayed with my aunt a couple of days before our MR cruise so had to bring our car seats for my 4 year old twins. I fretted forever about the car seats on the ship, but it wasn't needed. We had plenty of room in the closet. We have Britax Marathons, so a larger seat. They fit perfectly, and even in big bulky car seat travel bags. I just put them on top of each other in the long side of the closet. No problem at all!

Many people do one-way rentals instead of paying for unused days plus the parking fee.

The nice folks at Budget offered to store our seat for us. I was about to take my carseat to the Budget shuttle and the driver asked if I'd like them to store it for us. Worked out great and made me a Budget fan for renting a car to the port!
