Okay, okay.....it's time for the last day. I'm not really sure why I've been putting it off. I think it took a lot out of me to relive the 40th. That was one of the craziest days of my entire life. This day that I'm about to write about was the complete opposite. It was back to what Tom and Nik WDW trips are all about! Don't get me wrong, we had a blasty with the fam and were so glad to, not only spend so much time with Gary, Erin and Conor but also meet up with my family for a short time.
So our last day was....
Sunday, October 2, 2011
We didn't make it to rope drop but I'm pretty sure we were there fairly early. Where you might ask? I mean, c'mon...do you really have to ask??
Epcot, of course!!
Again, we drove, and as much as I LOVE the WDW buses, it really was quite convenient to just drive and walk up to the front. I actually think the walk from the buses is longer than the walk from the parking lot. My god, that is a long walk!
So anyway, we go through bag check and I always scope out the turnstiles to see which one looks best to walk through. When what to my wondering eyes should appear......
...but a Brazilian Tour Group during the WRONG time of year!
(Like that little rhyme?
)
So even though it's NEVER a good idea to get behind a BTG EVER, I went in that direction so we could get a picture....because we ALWAYS have to get the picture!
We didn't stop at the front for a photopass picture but we did stop just off to the right before Spaceship Earth when we saw Stitch!
We then went straight to Soarin' since we had not ridden that yet. I'm pretty sure it was early enough that we just got on the standby line. The ride was great as always but I have to say, that ride is the WORST for people giving commentary!! I mean, c'mon folks! You do NOT need to point out everything in the scene at each change. Your children will understand and most likely, they don't want to hear you talking either! BTW, does anyone else clap at the end anymore? I feel like when it first opened, people always clapped at the end and not so much anymore but I always try to initiate a good clap when it's over.
After our ride, we headed to Sunshine Seasons for breakfast. Shockingly, we took no pictures and I don't at all remember when either of us ate. Really, we were just killing time until World Showcase opened.
So we walked through the open area just on the other side of the Fountain of Nations and we saw the Queen of Hearts....just there by herself! No photopass photographer, no one in line to meet her. She did have a handler but it was still quite odd. Of course, I went to say hello!
As soon as I walked over, she started pointed at my ears and then her crown. Not sure what she was trying to say but it made a cute pic!
When I first turned to pose for the picture, she made the "off with his head" pose towards Tom so after a nice pic, we did an "off with his head" pic!
At this point, we were thinking it was just about time to really get this day started!!
We knew we were going to be eating and drinking a bunch so one of the first things we did was get the wristband gift card!
We started this time going counter clockwise so since a margarita wasn't in my immediate future, my first drink was a Parisian Cosmo Slush from France.
We stopped in Morocco for a quick picture.
After this picture, we noticed the display on our camera was doing something funky. It was displaying lots of weird information instead of just the picture and we had no idea why it started doing it and how to get it back. Strangely enough, this morning there seemed to be a LOT of people with professional looking cameras. For a second there, I thought there might even be some sort of photography convention or something but I guess it's popular for photographers to go early in the morning. So the next photography-looking man that walked by, I asked to look at my camera and tell me what's wrong with it. It was seriously the silliest, easiest fix! We really thought we tried everything! Thank you for your help, kind sir!
Next stop was some food! I honestly don't remember what this is and I'm trying to find it in my Food and Wine passport. (WHICH btw, I discovered WAAAAY too late in the day that they will stamp your book at each booth! DUH!) I'm pretty sure this is the Pork Kakuni from Japan.
Looks like Tom got a beer too!
Our next stop was America! I am SOOOO in love with America. I consider myself very patriotic. I love patriotic songs, Sam Eagle is my favorite Muppet and the montage at the end of American Adventure makes me cry every time! That said, I'm not into the government side of patriotism AT ALL! I know nothing about what actually going on in our country....I just love it!
So anyway, Tom saw a shirt earlier in the trip and he wanted to show it to me. It has one of my favorite Walt quotes on it. I was hemming and hawing over it and the CM working the store suggested I try it on over my clothes. It was like she read my mind, because that's what I really wanted to do but thought it would be weird. As soon as she gave me the okay, I had it on and had Tom take a picture so I could see what it looked like, since there was no mirror.
I bought it!
After a little shopping, it was time to go in!
These guys are amazing!! And how beautiful is the rotunda! When I was entertaining the idea of having my wedding in Disney World, there was no question that it would be in the AA rotunda. I saw pictures of a wedding there and just fell in love. Of course, it was just unrealistic to get married in WDW and even if it was, it was VERY unrealistic to think we'd ever get the 150 minimum required to book that venue.
Pretty soon, it was time to go in. The show was amazing, as always, and I cried at the end, as always!!
