We dye our real eggs and the EB hides them inside the house that night. (They remain out of the fridge all night.) Before he leaves, he hides the plastic eggs outside and puts the baskets on the hearth.
He used to put candy in the plastic eggs outdoors, but not anymore. Now it's just coins. We had to switch to money when we awoke one morning to find all our outdoor eggs were pilfered by hungry critters. Every egg was opened and the candy was gone! A few wrappers were left, but not many.
I bet those squirrels, chipmunks, ground hogs, or whatever they were had some pretty bad tummy aches.
