I find myself getting very bored easily with cardio so I like to change it up frequently. So I am curious what do YOU do for cardio? Usually I mix it up with the elliptical, biking, and sometimes Turbo Jam. I also occasionally play a few hours of racquetball as a nice change as well. I would love to do swimming but no access to a pool for me :confused3

WHAT DO YOU DO FOR CARDIO?

Running, biking, swimming. Running is what I do most. I just head out the door and run around in my neighborhood and the one next door. I finally bought a proper road bike last year and love it. I live close to one of our park systems that has a little less traffic and the roads usually have cyclists on them so the drivers are much better at sharing the road. Lastly I started doing laps in the pool at one of the gyms I belong to. I am going to be attempting a tri once I am a bit better in the water.

I play on a softball team and fill in as a sub on another and it works nicely as speed work since I'm in the outfield and have lots of shorts runs at full speed.

I play tennis from time to time but most of the people I used to play with no longer have much time so I think I played 3 times in the last 18 months.

WHAT DO YOU DO FOR CARDIO?

If you subscribe to the 220 minus age calculations my 100% is 160bpm. I get my CARDIO biking since that is my most enjoyable activity.

Tomorrow I'll head out at 4:00AM with a 20 to 30 mile warm up at 115 to 130bpm. As daylight approaches I'll meet up with one friend and up my speed to get into the 130 to 140bpm range. After another 20 to 30 miles we will meet up with a bunch of riders and start a 40 mile ride that will have me in the 145 to 160bpm range. Will probably do a sprint or two and get to 170+bpm. After finishing the 40 miles with the guys the two of us will continue to ride with me hovering around 145 to 150bpm.

I plan on totalling 125 to 150 miles by the time I call it quits.

I am not an outdoor person, unless I'm at a theme park! :lmao: I also don't play sports. So...I do my cardio workout in my basement - alternating between the Nordic Track and the stationary bike. The Nordic Track is more tiring, so I do that first for about 40 minutes. I can do a 10-minute mile for most of that time, with a 1-minute water break after 20 minutes. Then I ride the bike for an additional 30-40 minutes, using different programs on the bike.

I do mostly cardio stuff because I'm the opposite, I think it's more fun and it's definitely more effective for me. There's no end to the stuff you can do to get your heart rate going.

I run, do gym-machine stuff. My favorite is step classes. I used to take this great Les Mills class called Body Step. Don't even know if they still offer it at my old gym because a lot of people thought it was "too hard" (duh:confused3). It was less dancy and more step drills. I do a cardio circuit at the gym too which has been very effective.

I like to mix things up: race/powerwalk, kickboxing, step and dance aerobics.

I also do some weight training 2-3x a week. I put in some yoga at least 2x a week as well.

I have Exercise ADD. I need variety:laughing:

I do the usual running (training for half-marathons), elliptical, weighs, yoga etc etc. Bikram Yoga really gets my heart rate up, plus the added advantage of stretching out all those muscles that get all knotted up with my running and weights. Un-kinks even my stubborn calves and hips. Not for everyone, but I love it! I also count going dancing on weekends  if you're on the floor for a couple hours, definitely works up a sweat!

In my basement I have an elliptical and Nordic track. The Nordic track is hard on my tendonitis so I don't use it as much as I would like. I have a collection of workout DVD I like too. Today I did 15 minutes on the elliptical and a 2 mile walking tape. I like walking out doors and doing weight machine at the gym too.

My favorite DVDs are: walking ones from Prevention, Walk Away the Pounds, advanced Slim in Six ones, and Kenpo X from Power 90.

I run, take spinning classes, take Turbo Kick classes or do Turbo Jam at home

If you like Turbo Jam, Chalene Johnson just released a new program called Turbo Fire. You can check it out at http://www.beachbodycoach.com/onebadapple. I hope to order it within the next month. It looks awesome.

I love running and rowing. Biking is a lot of fun as well, especially on some of the paved rail trails here in VA. You can go for hours at top speed without much in the way of traffic.

Try lots of different things, Swimming is another good cardio workout, rollerblading, as are a variety of machines at the gym. I don't know but I prefer to work outside as opposed to in the gym, I just get super bored on the treadmill. Interval workouts can definately help there was well.

I'm all about classes - kickboxing, spinning, boot camp, Zumba, step...

Variety is the spice of life!

I use the stationary bikes and the treadmill at the gym, and I have a Nordic Trak Skier at home.

I walk outside 6 days a week, and do the BL CardioMax on M, W, F. I enjoy walking outside, there's always something different going on. Right now my 9 yo dd is walking with me, so we're doing 2 miles in about 55 min. When she's not with me I do 3 miles in about 45. We just started adding some running into the mix yesterday. I don't have room at home for equipment, or money for a gym membership, so I like the DVD thing also..trying to decide now which one to pick up next month!

Swimming but hasn't been regularly as our community pool is closed half the time.

I have Walk Away the Pounds 3 Mile dvd, Tae Bo and one other cardio video with Denise Austin. In Sept I want to start back on C25K again and tracking running will play into that. ;) I have pod cast from so long ago that helps with timing. So I have a couple months to get a sturdy endurance to start walk/jogging. :yay: I enjoy running but its not that easy at my weight.

I love to run! It is the best because it burns the most calories in the shortest amount of time! :thumbsup2 I also love zumba classes and going dancing with my hubby. In the past, I have done Taobo, other kickboxing and step aerobics. I don't like ellipticals or stationary bikes, but I take my bike out all the time. I am fortunate enough to live in an area where I can ride my bike to the grocery store a couple of times a week. It all adds up!

In order of preference:

1. Run
2. Bike
3. Open ocean swimming. I HATE swimming in a pool.

In order of what I DO

1. Run (but not enough due to lower back issues)
2. Swim
3. Bike.

I'd do more, but just don't make the time. Must do better.

I loathe cardio workouts. SO I incorporated kettlebells into my workouts and I LOVE THEM! Take a look at Steve Cotter vids on youtube. You can't get any better instruction than from him.

Mostly running and surfing. My run loop is 5 miles which I do about three times a week. I go surfing whenever the waves call to me.

I can't run on hard surface much - bad knees and shin splints! - so I mix it up between the cross ramp, ellipticals, treadmill, spin class, stair climbing and boot camp work outs.

I really want to do Zumba but the lateral moves kill my right knee - it's getting stronger though so I may get there yet. :cool1:
