What do you carry in the parks

I have a Mickey backpack that we bought a couple of years ago and it has been great for us. As far as what we take in the parks, we will take a couple of snacks, sunscreen, a few ponchos and all of our camera equipment. Sometimes we will bring the aspirin and maybe some Pepto, just in case.

Dh and I have it easy in terms of what we have to carry as we dont have children...yet!
But I always carry in a small messenger bag spf lip balm, travel size antibacterical hand gel and sunscreen, digital camera, sunglasses for both of us and a tiny wallet for cash, ID etc.
:goodvibes

Wow, I never realized there were so many lite-packers on the boards.

On an average day to the parks carry;

Lowepro Micro Trekker 200 camera backpack containing;

Nikon D100 w\ 24-120mm Nikkor
SB-80DX Speedlite
(4) 1GB Lexar CF cards
105mm Nikkor Micro
2 spare batteries
Various filters, lense cloths, blower brush, remote shutter release, etc
TRV-33 MiniDV camcorder
Casio S500 mini-digital
iPod w\ photo adapter
Depending on what kind of shooting i'm doing that day I also carry a small Velbon Maxi tripod or I may lug big Bogen out and store it in a locker until evening.

Since we usually go in January \ February, I usually roll up 2 long sleeves, one for myself and one for my better half for the evenings and throw that in the bag.

Otherwise, resort charge \ key, photo ID, $~10 cash and some change in a waterproof pouch. I throw all of my receipts in the pouch as well as it helps us plan new vacations, giving us an idea of what we spent on food, souviners, etc.

Most of the gear is obviously because of photography, otherwise I can get away without taking anything except my S500 digital.

My daughters friend had this great little girly backpack. They look like a piece of lite weight nylon sewn on 3 sides with a draw string at the top which also serves as straps you can throw over a shoulder. I stole it for our last trip and loved it. It was incredibly lite weight and you could easily fit the essentials. I try to bring the least amount possible, money, tickets, comb, sun block, aspirin, bug bite stuff, chapstick, disposable camera and bandaids. Maybe a snack to keep us amused in long lines. (I find everyone would rather buy what's in the park, so I stopped lugging snacks along years ago.) I make everyone carry in 1 bottle of water and then we buy what ever else we need. I hate carrying around a lot of stuff-because like many of you I usually end up carrying it.

And yes I did give my daughters friend back her backpack and and have since bought my own!

I carry my room key, which also acts as the credit card. That's it.

I carried my purse which is one of those backpack things to the parks once by accident and it felt very, very bizarre.

No, we obviously don't have small children yet!
