I have friends coming over for a two week stay in a villa, four adults and two teens, they will arrive in the evening after a long flight, I will meet them and I would like to welcome them with fresh flowers, fruits and some groceries to start them the first few days.
What do you buy when you stop for grocery on your way from the airport?
I tried making a list but I end up listing everything on my regular grocery list,
And how about regulars or low fat milk or soya milk, different flavors of items, cereals, decaf or regular coffee and tea, soft drinks, botteled water, what kind of breads, how much is a good offer, should i get soap, laundry detergent, tissues, kitchen towels, napkin, toilet roll.
How about dinner, please help.

We only stayed 10 days but this is what I picked up:

OJ, milk, cheese, cheese sticks, potato chips, bread (for PBandJ and toast), pastries, nuts, fruits, soda pop and panty hose for daughter to dress up for TEA. Bill came to only 22$ at Super Target. We never needed to return to a grocery store, so I'm glad I did this on the way to our resort. But it depends on how much time you'll be spending in your room as to how much food you'll need. We didn't spend much time in ours, this was only for breakfast and snacks. Brought from home PB and J, fruit snacks, granola bars, loly pops, raisens, etc.. Hope this helps. And enjoy your 2 weeks!!

Unless they are really particular about soap, toilet tissue, facial tissue, paper towels, dish soap, and dishwasher detergent, all of these are in the villa and you won't need to supply them.

Will they be cooking any dinners in the villa, or will they be like most DVC'ers, and use the villa primarily for breakfast?

We never cook any meals, but do eat most breakfasts in the villa.

For the three of us, which includes a teen, this would be an average shopping list for us:

skim milk
orange juice
cereal (usually two types)
Granola bars or Pop-Tarts
Fresh Fruit
bottled water in a variety of sizes
soda
sports drink
wine
beer
1/2 gallon ice cream
air freshener
All Free & Clear
laundry softener sheets
Nestea concentrated liquid iced tea mix
yogurt
chips/salsa
Zip-lok bags

We don't drink coffee and I bring tea from home as I have a difficult time finding the brand I like in Florida. We just use paper towels for napkins, although if I were eating more than just quick breakfasts in the villa I would probably buy a pack of dinner napkins.

As far as fresh flowers, there is no vase in the room, so either buy an arrangement in a container, or order them. I love the work that Shirley from theperfectgift.cc does, or use the Disney Florist who also does great work.

If they'll be cooking, I'd go for easy to make/clean up things, like mac-N-Cheese, pasta with jar sauce, soup and sandwiches, canned chilli with Pillsbury pop and bake rolls, those stir fry meals that you just add meat, Stouffers bake and serve entrees. There are a ton of posts on the budget board that deal with easy one pot meals, you might want to look there.

Let me know if you need anything else!

We stay for 2 weeks and I also buy.. pasta and sauce, canned tuna/ chicken, eggo's, frozen pizza, small package of frozen burgers for grilling one night, luncheon meat for sandwiches, more ziplock bags.

I usually do one or 2 dinners per week in the Villa. so I buy a turkey breast or roast, pototoes, frozen veggies, salad mix , the type with the dressing. If you are driving and can bring the slow cooker that helps with dinners too.

Thank you all for reply, as for cooking dinners I don't know if they will be cooking but I meant dinner on their arrival night since they will be tiered and not ready to cook, shall I cook something or order take away or buy some ready cold sandwiches and such from publix, where I will be doing the grocery.
Do you find cleaning items , soaps, paper products at the rental villas or do you buy everything you will need?
Thanks again.

You will get....

Dishwashing detergent (a small bottle of Dawn or something)
Soap for the dishwasher
A small bottle of shampoo (but just one)
Toilet paper
Paper towers
Two coffee filters with coffee (or decaf and one regular)
Some sugar and creamer packets
ONE load worth of laundry detergent.

(and a broom, mop, vaccuum, sponge, ironing board and iron)

Our list for next trip (significantly smaller than last trip):

Eggs
Cheese
Salt and Pepper
Good Coffee (ground)
Mr. Coffee Filters
Half and Half
Sugar
OJ
Bottled Water
Microwave Popcorn
Fruit Snacks (for the kids in the park)
Grapes
Cereal
Milk
Bread
Peanut Butter
Jam
Laundry detergent

(We are the breakfast and snacks only DVCers).

We did discover that the Screen Door (and the other DVC resorts) had OK prices on eggs and half and half. But their grocery selection is very slim and fairly pricey.

Screen Door is the "General Store" at the BW. Each DVC resort has in their gift shop a section that sells some basic grocery items. Cereal, milk, bottles of wine, spaghetti noodles and jars of sauce, eggs, frozen pizzas, orange juice, pop tarts, bread, lunchmeat. It isn't a fantasic selection, and its a little pricey, but it is there.

We bought a styrofoam cooler, water, beer, breakfast pastries. I wish we had bought kleenex and Charmin. I didn't like the 'school house' grade stuff at the resort.

TimeWrap: I am glad you told me about the quality of the toilet roll and tissues, it is always nice to use a favorite.

Crisi: They will be staying in a rental home in Kissimmee, not Diseny Resorts, so it has to be a regular grocery store, that's why I am offering to do it for them since they are arriving late and tiered after the flight and still have to find thier and not get lost at dark.

I would like to welcome them with fresh flowers, fruits and some groceries to start them the first few days

I think the key phrase there is "first few days". Don't worry about the laundry powder, they probably won't want to do any laundry for at least a day or 2 (unless they've packed their bag with dirty clothes, I know this is a pcking technique for some people, not something I can relate to at all)

I would ask you friends what cereal/type of milk/juice/bread etc that they want for breakfast - people can be very funny about their skim/full cream needs, what cereal they eat, and even the butter/magarine debate. That would also allow them to bring up any dietary issues (no dairy/no wheat/vegetarians) that you might not know about. Then you can decide about dinner, but maybe having phone number for home delivery pizza might be easiest to cater for everyones preferences (unless they are no dairy/no wheat!).... Maybe some salad stuff for a salad with the pizza that could easily end up being put into sandwiches if they didn't want salad (cheese, lettuce, meat, tomato)
