What did you forget to pack???

Nightlight that you can plug in from any direction. The one we brought would not fit in the plug because of the angle. Luckily someone else in our party brought an extra. My DH has forgotten dress socks.

I recently forgot a dress belt. Had to buy one in Cozumel, kinda expensive, and wrong size.

Also forgot Imodium. Can't get that at the shops. You have to got to medical and explain why you need it........

I bring my mobile device.... but often leave the charger at home.

Something I'm doing different now.... instead of packing the night before. When I get up in the morning.... everything I touch.... goes into the luggage. Drawback... I'm get ever closer to my weight limit as I'm remember too many things to pack.

Last year, due to working crazy hours, I packed at 2 am before I got on a flight to the Bahamas at 6 am. As a word of warning, that is a horrible idea. I forgot my passport, any shoes other than old flip flops and snow boots, sunglasses and my glasses. Thankfully I had packed contacts and remembered that I did not pack my passport before we made it to the airport...we just had to drive about 80 mph to get there in time.

This year, I packed for my cruise a week in advance :) I'm sure I'll still forget something but that passport was the first thing to get stuck in my carry-on.

Not exactly forgotten BUT ...
I packed sunscreen and bathing suits in my checked baggage, with the INTENTION of switching suits and sunscreen to the carry-on bags before I gave them to the porter. Completely forgotten in all the excitement of heading to the port! My kids wanted to swim right away and couldn't. Our bags didn't arrive until 6:30 pm. Bad mom moment for sure.

We forgot binoculars for Alaska :(

Like xlxo, every single thing I touch on the morning of departure goes in the bag.

I start packing a few days before to make sure everything I want to take is clean and dry, as I always hang laundry rather than using dryer for my clothes.

In future, I want to actually take my packing list to make sure everything makes it home again. On our last little adventure (land based), I left my tablet charger behind. Whoops..... :oops:Lucky for me a friend was going to the same resort shortly after and agreed to pick it up for me.:thanks:

We always keep a folder with travel info. We add to it every time there is an update or change, starting the moment we book. In that folder goes the passport of every person going on the trip, and we do that as soon as the trip is booked as well. If we schedule another trip that is sooner than the date of the current folder, we move them to the new trip's folder then add them back to the other folder immediately upon unpacking. Last thing I want to do is forget my passport. That would be a nightmare. I can buy whatever I need to wear, etc. but a passport being lost means no trip.

I have a folder for our passports, along with several photocopies of each, but they stay there until a few days before our trip. When I do our online check-in for our flights, I double check that we have our passports.

I also maintain a folder for each trip we are taking, business or leisure. For a cruise these will contain information on our cruise, excursions, hotel, transfers and/or rental car, airline reservations, etc, as well as a checklist for pre-departure requirements such as stopping the mail and newspaper, notifying credit card companies of our travel plans, taxi to the airport reservation, and the like. DW and I each have our own packing lists, but we coordinate on what we're taking.

I'm implementing this idea, thank you.

Not forgotten but purposely left home because it wasn't needed since I travel on passport and wasn't expecting to drive - my driver's license.

Which should have been completely fine until I had flight issues, meaning that I can no longer fly to Miami in time to catch the cruise. Instead flying to Orlando for midnight, sleeping at the hotel for 4 hours intending to rent a car in the morning at 6 am and while having breakfast at the airport food court, worried about the 3+ hour drive you've never done or even researched and suddenly realizing that you don't have your driver's license which the car rental company will surely want. I expect all the colour drained from my face and know my heart stopped beating for at least a beat or two. With 7 or so hours maximum to catch the cruise, all the various alternate options were considered but none expected to be possible. However, so thankfully, my dearest wife had hers. She never drives while on vacation, I didn't expect she had it.

So, I vow to bring my license from now on no matter what.

We do this too. Tickets, receipts, and such as well.

I also learned two trips ago to record the alternate flight prices when I book my flights and keep that with my flight info. As in, I take a screen capture of the airline's other flight options and costs. A couple years ago, they cancelled my flight (which was an ideal time and therefore more expensive) well in advance and switched me to a cheaper flight that I hadn't wanted because it was too early in the morning. When I claimed that I knew it was a cheaper flight they said they had no way to know the price difference in the flights from when I booked it and were not going to do anything for me. In the end, I ended up flying a day earlier than intended because I hate the early morning option so changed to a flight for which I had no idea of cost. But it rotted me enough that I almost got clearly ripped off that I do the screen capture. Mind you, I have no idea if they'd accept it, but it's a start.

When we went with my parents in 2004 I left my husband's formal night shoes on the bed. I also packed two different sizes of shoes (one of each) for DS, who was 6, instead of one pair. So in my parents' 50th anniversary photo taken that night we are all dressed up but the son in law and the only grandson wearing sneakers.

I had to call Guest Services once and get a pair of dress shoes sent up

A little off topic, but do all Disney Cruises allow you to borrow dress shoes? We're cruising in May 2016, but it's part of a five week trip from Australia and we won't have room in our luggage for a pair of shoes that we'll only wear once (especially as we're going to be travelling to two different climates - very hot and very cold). We wanted to do brunch or dinner in Palo, but thought this wouldn't be an option without the right shoes. If we can borrow dress shoes, that would be a great solution.

If they do tuxedo rental, they have shoes. You may even be able to order them ahead of time. I think I might have paid $12.

Many years ago at a conference one of the speakers had on one brown shoe and one black shoe. He said when he got dressed in the dark before heading to the airport he couldn't tell what shoes he was putting on.

I went to work with one silver and one gold earring for the exact same reason. o_O
