Just thinking of this when I read the thread about the length of marriages. We are up to 23 years so the "big" one is comming. I was also young, 20, when we got married.

I have always thought of having a VERY nice "party"...our wedding was quick due to family arugments.

My family wanted control with not a lot of money...his wanted control & had the money. After much fighting & control issues...we decided at Thanksgiving to get married right after Christmas.

1 month to plan, found a pretty dress...but it was "tea" length...my Mom had a fit when she saw this...had to change it...

got the florist as not many weddings are 2 days after Christmas, same with the photogopher, and the rest. where we help the reception.

Guess that's why I've always wanted to do something BIG for our special anniv.

Now I am thinking of a great cruise with all our kids (6!!!) and maybe a vow renewal on the cruise.

What would you all do??

Sounds VERY nice :teeth:

I would take a BIG trip! A special cruise (with or without the kids) sounds wonderful. www.cruisecritic.com is a great site for info, and they have a discussion forum similar to the DIS. :)

My DH and I went to Europe for 2 weeks for our 20th - without the kids. I'm hoping for more of the same for our 25th in 2007, but I'd like to do a Mediterranean cruise. :)

I want to renew my vows in WDW and have a "second" wedding there with my kids.

If I wait 20 more years..DS (oldest) will be 24! So, I might do this on my 15th.

25th my kids will be 24, 22, 20, and younger. So maybe we will all take a cruise or something. Depending on how many more kids I have I may have two or three in college..so we might be poor right then!LOL!

We just had our 25th last week. We had a party with our family and friends - about 35 people - that was very casual. We are going to take our children to New York this summer.

We went on a cruise for our 20th and it was great. I recommend doing that as there is something for everyone to do.

Good luck.

I would sure do the cruise!! That's what I wanted to do for ours, but DH is just not a traveler (won't fly and won't go on a cruise) so that was out. We didn't have a big party. Just went out to eat..... He did bring me roses to my office (in person!) that morning.

There are a lot of us that seem to be thinking along the same lines. We are planning a 7 night Disney cruise with our kids and a vow renewal ceremony. My counter is running also.

our 25th is in 8 years... too long to wait.. i would love to celebrate our 20th in WDW. my dream is to go for 2weeks alone.. no kids.. stay at the GF and throw is the cruise. but once i stop dreaming and get back to real life.. not sure what we'll do!!!

I was thinking of a cruise before reading this! <a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/7/7_2_117.gif' border=0></a>

We have our 25th this year in October.

So far we have nothing major planned.

I would like to do something special though. Just don't know what it will be yet.

DH and I had our 25th in 2000. For our actual anniversary we spent the night at a beautiful local bed-and-breakfast. That evening we met our grown children at a local (very fancy) restaurant and had a lovely dinner, complete with champagne. No "big party" for us, didn't want one.

Then, in January we spent 4 nights at WDW at the Contemporary (tower, Magic Kingdom view) which was followed by a 7-night Disney Magic cruise, which was followed by another week in Florida with a rental car to sightsee and visit family.

We're thinking Alaska or Hawaii for our 30th in 2005, maybe a cruise to either or just fly there and explore, who knows yet...

I didn't get to have a reception- long story on that one, so I want to re do the wedding myself. We are only coming up on 8 years tomorrow, so I guess I have time to plan! I would be all for a cruise too!

No plans at this time since ours is 10 years down the road yet. Will depend on what's up in our lives at that time.

I know what we don't want, though. No party or vow renewal.

We went on the Disney Magic 4 night in the first month it was sailing. August 1998
Our three grown children came with us. It was absolutely wonderful. I am so glad we all went as this was the last time we were able to rally everyone to go on a vacation together. Our eldest has since married - middle daughter has moved back to Texas and son is in college.

We returned to do the Wonder 4-night on our 30th Anniversary - this time just the two of us. It was also perfect.

The Disney cruise is absolutely wonderful as adults only. We had 900 children on our last cruise and rarely saw them. I was amazed!!!

Our 25th is next May. We were going to go to Italy for a few weeks, but that has been postponed for a few years. Too many things happening next year to warrant a trip like that. Maybe for our 30th.

So now we're going to go to WDW, of course. No kids. It's my anniversary, not theirs. Both girls will probably be married by then, and one with a baby, I don't think I want all that on my anniversary trip. We are planning on taking a few days at either Vero Beach or Hilton head. I've always wanted to eat at California Grill, so that's the plan for our actual anniversary dinner. I know I've been to WDW a ton, but it's the only place (besides Italy) that I want to go. I doubt we'll do any restating our vows or anything. Stephen is very shy about public things like that, so I'd never ask him. If he came up with it on his own, that'd be great, but I'm okay w/o it. I don't need him to stand up in front of anyone and say he loves me, he shows me every single day :lovestruc I'm not saying it's bad for others, that's just not how we are.

It's almost a year away, but I am planning already. We plan on staying about 10 days, and it'll be great!

<font color=navy>Well, I'll never see 25 years of marriage, but my folks did.

For my parents' 25th wedding anniversary, my dad had dinner catered to the house for two, and had a musician come in and serenade him & my mom while they ate dinner.... by candlelight.

My dad's that kind of guy. :)

Our 25th is in November (Thanksgiving time). We're celebrating early 6/19 Western Magic cruise and late (our annual December DVC trip to BWV.

Disney around Thanksgiving isn't the best use of points/dollars.

We spent a week at WDW at Port Orleans French Quarter. Our wedding was our public vows in front of friends and family, but our anniversary was our private time just for us. Or as my spouse said when someone asked him if he was going to renew his vows: "I married her once and I haven't changed my mind about that. Why on earth would I need to do all of the wedding stuff over again?"(smile)
