Day 24, September 6
Lunch at Wolfgang Puck's Cafe
Another day, another restaurant!
Today we skipped breakfast altogether and went over to Downtown Disney Westside for lunch at Wolfgang Puck's Express.
We had eaten here before for dinner and while the food was really nice, apart from the bread, that had been sitting under the heat lamp for FAR too long, the service was not very good.
So we were really interested to see if that had only been a "bad" day.
We met Mary Ellen and Joe in front of the restaurant and checked in. There were several families waiting in the lobby but we were seated immediately. It was fun to see that we were led to exactly the same table we had had the last time.
Our server came by about 1 minute after we had been seated. He was real fun and helpful, offering to give recommendations on the food and taking our drinks orders.
We ordered appetizers for all to share.
One of them were the Crab Cakes - Sauteed Maryland Style crab cakes with marinated tomato basil aioli, garnished with micro greens. These were very good! Lots of yummy crab, just enough filler to keep it gether and the aioli was out of this world!
Our second appetizer was the Artichoke and Five Cheese Dip - California artichokes with mascarpone, fontina with crispy flat bread. It was such a yummy appetizer. The dip was rich and gooey and once we had munched away all the flatbread we used the bread to mop it all up! Too good to let something behind!
Next up were our main courses:
Joe ordered the Burger - served with cheddar, bacon and onions and a side of french fries. We did not hear any complaints!
Mary Ellen ordered the Chicken Aioli Pocket - Sliced chicken breast with mozzarella, chopped Romaine, diced tomatoes, and red onion with cilantro aioli and a side of house made chips. She was surprised at the sice of her sandwich and enjoyed it very much! She just wasn't able to finish it all - it's huge, we have had it before!
Tom had the Rigatoni with Beef Bolognese - Artisan pasta with braised beef, tomatoes and fresh basil. Another huge helping and very tasty indeed!
The sauce was very rich and thick and very well seasoned. He liked it a lot.
Wolfgang Puck is famous for his pizza creations, so I HAD TO get one of them. The Spicy Shrimp Pizza, roasted eggplant, sauteed zucchini, Kalamata olives, sun dried tomatoes and prawns. And spicy it was!!!! But soooooooooo good! There were quite a few juicy prawns, lots of veg and the pizza base was thin and crispy. Spicy sauce and even more chili flakes on top!
Loved it!!!!
None of us were really up for dessert, but Mary Ellen and I decided to sacrifice ourselves and for the sake of the DISboards ....................
we DID order dessert!

Mary Ellen ordered the Florida Key Lime Pie - Swiss meringue with a buttery graham cracker crust. It got the
I had the Classic Carrot Cake - Homemade cream cheese icing with candied pecans. This is one of the best carrot cakes I have ever had. Moist, and lots of icing.
Joe and Tom didn't want ANY dessert, so they just asked for coffee and got it!
All in all a MUCH better experience than the last time!

We had Free Disney Dining Plan which we had upgraded to the DxDDP. We booked through the British Disney Travel company and the cost for nine nights and 2 people was ....... 270 British Pounds = 420 $
So, we paid 420$ (difference between DDP and DxDDP) for 9 days of DxDDP!
