What did WE celebrate? .. 30 days of Disney fun and food! Update 04/02

Finally got catch up with the updates and enjoyed reading them. Beaches and Cream ice cream looks yummy (a place we have not yet to try). Jiko is a place my husband loves (we had 2 wonderful dinner there 2 years ago...my husband loved it so much that he had to get it as room service for our last night...our son was so tired that we had an early room service for him...when he went to sleep. We had Jiko deliver an amazing meal and we enjoyed eating our dessert at our balcony and watching the zebras run around).

Karin,
I can not believe English is not your first language. Your use of grammer and spelling surpasses mine, American born and bred.

Beaches and Cream, sooo good, I had the same little mouse last time. I did not know what it was going to be, it was very cute and not too heavy.

I was very impressed with the presentation of the desserts at Jiko, pure art. I stayed at AKL about 6 years ago but, did not dine there. It was a short trip and I was not as savy about dining as I am now. Will have to go back and try it for certain.
Thanks agin for your great reviews.

Yummy Beaches and Cream, gotta go back there this year for a sundae :teeth:

Looks like you had a great dinner at Jiko. Our experience last year wasn't very good which was a little disappointing as I had heard great things about the place.

The Mickey Sundae was really nice. Just the right amount for that afternoon - and Joe had his Hot Fudge Sundae which he LOVED!!! :lmao:

We really enjoyed our dinner at Jiko! What went wrong for you? Was it the food or the service?

Wow! What an amazing review! I was able to catch up with you this morning! I'm somewhat jealous of the amount of time you spend in Disney. My DH just becasme a Disney fanatic 4 years ago and we plan to go every year. But of course, we only go for 8 days. This year, we decided to treat ourselves and take a 6 day trip without the kids... (shhhh, don't tell them!) ;)

This trip will give us more time to spend at the restaurants and enjoy them. I feel like we are always racing so it will be something different.

Back to the jealousy of all your trips! Congrats on the Feb trip and I hope you enjoy! I will keep checking back to see the updated review here!

Thank you! I am glad you enjoy the reviews. I love doing them!

Oh, don't be jealous! You wouldn't want to sit on two planes for 13 hours to get there! :lmao:
But it is really wonderful to stay for such a long time! It takes us a while to get ajusted to the heat and having four weeks really is a blessing. :cloud9:

You'll enjoy your kid free trip! There are so many things to do for adults - it's wonderful!

The desserts everywhere look yummy and so does that steak !!I too would prefer potatoes with steak !!!

It was really a nice experience - the food was really good and the servers were very friendly and helpful! And I think I am going to enjoy the potato gratin next time! ;) :goodvibes

I just wanted to say thank you for the wonderful reviews! I'm only halfway through so far but I'm getting there. :goodvibes

Thank YOU for reading! I really enjoy doing these reviews and knowing that there are so many friendly readers out there, makes it twice the fun.

:yay: You are caught up! You HAVE to try Beaches and Cream - the Kitchen Sink is one of its signature sundaes and it is HUGE and fun to share. But all their other sundaes are fun and yummy too!
Wow, I didn't know Jiko did room service! :sad2: I wish I had known when we stayed there. Your room service meal from Jiko sounds heavenly! :thumbsup2

No, English is not my first language. :) But I love to try and do my best! ;)

That Mickey Mouse sundae is good and cute, isn't it! We both really loved it!

Many of the restaurants haave a great presentation for their food and desserts - we love to try a few new restaurants every time we go to WDW. You need to try Jiko for yourself - it was a wonderful experience!

Nice dinner at Jiko! We had the barebecue chicken flatbread there last year and, while it was good..it didn't blow me away. The other one sounds pretty intriguing. We're going to Jiko again this year and I'm thinking about that duck breast...hopefully, they won't be out of duck that night. There are also some more authentically African sounding dishes on the new menu that I might want to try. Kind of bummed that they got ride of the doughuts. I had them last year and loved them. Oh well... your chocolate dessert looks divine.

Oh my goodness! That little Mickey sundae looks so similar to the Mickey "Mousse" that is at the Garden Grill. It's technically the kids' dessert, but I had one on my trip a couple of weeks ago, and it was delishh!!!!!!!!! :) It was cookies and cream mousse with oreo ''ears" and and Mickey sprinkles and we all LOVED it. It was the favorite dessert of the trip, and the meal itself was also the favorite. (The TR link is in my signature if ya wanna follow along! :)) I really love that place :thumbsup2 Anyways, great updates! I really enjoy your TR's and I loved the Kona update! That place is an absolute favorite of mine. :)

How fun you had the BBQ chicken flatbread too - while it was nice, it didn't blow me away. The other though was SO yummy!

We're going to Jiko in August, if they will ever come up with park hours! :headache: I can do my ADRs in 19 days, so they better hurry up! :lmao:

Did you see that some of the park hours changed for our February trip? I really "love" it when they do that to me after all is planned and booked! But I should get used to it ......... third time in February, third time they are changing park hours a few weeks out! :sad2:

I didn't know they served such a dessert at the Garden Grill! :goodvibes It's one of the restaurants we haven't been to!
Need to hop over to your TR lateron to check it out! :thumbsup2

Day 23, September 5

Breakfast at Wolfgang Puck's Express

We just didn't feel like having another huge lunch, so we decided to go and have breakfast at a tasty old favourite, Wolfgang Puck's Express.

IMG_7564.jpg

I ordered some hot Earl Grey Tea, which I really love. That is one of the few places that serves decent tea! :rolleyes1

IMG_7566.jpg

Tom had some coffee

IMG_7565.jpg

and we chose water as our second beverage. We wanted to drive offsite and do some shopping, so a drink of water was fine.

IMG_7570.jpg

Tom got Wolfgang's Breakfast Pocket - Scrambled eggs, peppers, Niman Ranch Bacon, onions, mushrooms, mozzarella and cheddar cheese baked into Wolfgang's pizza dough. He LOVES it, and I have to admit, it IS a yummy breakfast treat!

IMG_7568.jpg

Yip, I am a boring person, I had the Smoked Bacon Pizza - scrambled eggs, tomatoes, mozzarella and cheddar cheese and Ranch Dressing again! Yes, I love it this much - I could it every day! ;) Best breakfast ever! :thumbsup2
Really, what can go wrong with scrambled eggs, crisp bacon, cheese and Ranch Dressing! :cloud9: :lmao:

After breakfast we picked up a few treats from Goofy's before we headed back to OKW, to put the goodies in an air conditioned room.

We had Free Disney Dining Plan which we had upgraded to the DxDDP. We booked through the British Disney Travel company and the cost for nine nights and 2 people was ....... 270 British Pounds = 420 $

So, we paid 420$ (difference between DDP and DxDDP) for 9 days of DxDDP! ;)

How much did we actually cost Disney?
54 dining credits
36 snack credits
WPE ...... 31,80 (2 DC ......... 36 DC remain)
2 Refillable Mugs ...... 29,80
AK snack stand ...... 4,80 (2 snack credits ......... 30 snack credits remain)
Cost altogether ..... 705,20 $

420$ - 705,20 $ = 285,20 $

Next up - Snacks from Goofy's

Okay, I must fess up - I am a boring eater (no garlic -due to terrible allergy -no pepper, onions, any kind of salad dressing, mustard, mayo...the list goes on and on.:rotfl:)

What I want to know about is the TREATS from Goofy's!!!!!!! And now I must wait until tomorrow???? UNFAIR!! :sad2:

Oh, Karin, the torture!!!:rotfl2:

Hi Karin,

I don't thinkl you are boring at all

If something is sooooooo delicious, why change :confused3

That breakfast pocket ALWAYS looks great. Our WPE here never was open for breakfast. Hey, maybe that's why it closed!

I have a friend at school who is very limited in what she can eat, due to alleriegs too!

Sorry I wasn't able to update yesterday. Wednesday and Thursday are my LONG days at school and I just didn't get around to it, but I will update tonight! ;)

Oh my! That breakfast pizza looks wonderful!

Thank you for being such a loyal reader! And thank you for all the praise! :goodvibes

FOUR! I missed FOUR updates. Now, I can blame it on being busy at work; or I'm in a crabby mood because we had to go out and buy a new washing machine or I could admit it is because I am trying to avoid ALL food reviews because it only confuses me all the more for what I want in September. :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Kouzzina, Kona Cafe, Jiko, Beaches & Cream and Wolfgang--all places we have NEVER been. They all look fabulous. My mouth is watering as I sit here and eat my Campbell's soup for lunch.

Snacks from Goofy's

Later we went to Goofy's to pick up some sweet treats and some drinks.

We got some "Make your own treats". Marshmallows dipped into dark chocolate and Reece's Pieces, drizzled with white chocolate! :cloud9:

IMG_7587.jpg

You can't have just ONE make your own treat! ;) So we got some pretzel rods, all dipped into dark chocolate and one dipped into Reece's Pieces, one dipped into shredded coconut, and one dipped into crushed butterfinger and all of them drizzled with white chocolate! :goodvibes

IMG_7582.jpg

We also picked up 3 bottles of water and a bottle of juice. (the drinks were DDP credits)

I am so with you on the being undecided what to book for summer! Then I see something yummy on one of the threads and it knocks over all my planning again!
I still got 17 days to decide! :scared1: .......... and PLEASE, Disney, come up with park hours!!!!!!!!!!!!! :rotfl2:

Hello, I stumbled upon your TR while searching the dining reviews. I was going to read just the links, but the Camaro drew me in! :cool2:

I can't imagine a whole month in WDW, how great is that!? I'm trying to get caught up, but wanted to stop in & say hello! :flower3:
