What did WE celebrate? .. 30 days of Disney fun and food! Update 04/02

Hi Karin, I love the picture of the promenade deck, we took a nap in lounge chairs during the day at sea after being stuffed from the Palo brunch.

That was a beautiful day at sea, wasn't it! I could not believe how empty that area was, so we couldn't resist taking that photo. Those chairs were awefully comfy!

Oh man...between your wonder Palo review and the DCL commercials that have been running all day on TV I can't wait to cruise again! I have a dummy booking on the Dream in October but will probably push that out.

BTW, the sommelier from your wine tasting (the tall one from France) was the sommelier on the Magic last summer on my Med cruise. He is really a nice man and very knowledgable. I think I had a total of 4 wine tastings on that cruise that he hosted.

for cruising! We haven't seen the commercials on the Dream yet - waiting for them to appear on youtube!

The sommelier was really knowledgeable as we asked about Austrian wines and he even knew these as well. We hope to do more tastings during this summer! They were fun!

Still Day 19, September 1

Disney Wonder - breakfast at Triton's

It was time to leave the WONDERful Disney WONDER!!!!

Our scheduled breakfast was at Triton's. We got to talk to Teresa and Mickey again and it looks like they enjoyed the cruise (and food) as well!

We started with coffee and tea and I guess I had some orange juice as well.

So I had the Chef's Farewell, a large open faced omelet topped with barbecued chicken, green peppers, onions and melted Swiss cheese. I don't know if it was because we had to leave the ship but I was not wowed by the breakfast. Very standard fare and slightly underseasoned.

Tom got the Route 66, scrambled eggs, bacon, grilled sausage, grilled ham, and hash browns. He liked it, but he said standard fare too, nothing to write home about enthusiastically!

We said goodbye to our servers and tablemates and new friends Teresa and Mickey and had to part ways.

One last look at our wonderful ship and we were off to Walt Disney World again!

Oh so glad you are not done with reviews. I was thinking all who have enjoyed reading your dining report should get in and send funds for another trip for you. For those of us who are unable to travel very far from home (waiting for a kidney transplant so 8- hour flight is out of question for now) your reviews make me HAPPY and let me enjoy seeing WDW and Disney Cruise through your eyes.

Again so glad the posts continue.

Oh, there are plenty more updates to come! We were on the deluxe DDP for the last part of our trip too!

I am so sorry you can't travel at the moment! Hope you get your transplant VERY soon!

Guess once I am done with this review I will already be close to our February trip ........ and we have another long month long planned for this summer!

Wow...dinner at Palo looks amazing. I love good lasagna and make a pretty good one, if I say so myself. Love bechamel. The chocolate souffle looked so delicious, as well.
Too bad if and when we go on a cruise, we won't be able to go there! Someday.... I think a cruise would be a lovely way to celebrate an anniversary. Mark really would like to do an Alaskan cruise and if we do, you better believe it will be a Disney cruise!

Hi Karin!!!You farewell breakfasts looked good sorry they weren't spectacular!!!!If I do a cruise I may have to go with someone other than Carol, Dan has another co worker applying and so they are interested in the cruise but I am definately gonna tell them I wanna do a Disney Cruise and I don't care who I do it with !!I will see what they allow us to do !! One problem is most of the"Guys" are not fancy eaters so that might be a factor !!

I wouldn't be too sure you won't be able to go to Palo if and when you take that cruise. I have heard from friends that kids love the entertainment on board and I guess you could sneak away and fit in a few "date-hours"!
Whatever cruise you are going to take - just make sure you take a DISNEY cruise!

Once you have finally made that first "entrance" on the Disney Dream - head for the TA on board and book a longer, or better b2b cruise! Then while on the b2b, book a b2b2b, you know how to go on ...........

You don't have plans for another trip before you go on a trip, especially to Disney?
Guess what - we need yet to do our February trip, have our summer trip all set in place (just not planned through) and I am thinking about summer 2012 already!

The breakfast was okay, Rosie, just not as spectacular as our dinner the night before!
Rosie once you know what kind of cruise you are going to take, I am sure you will figure out a way to sneak away for a meal at Palo one night!

How wonderful you got another meal at Palo!!! Your server must have LOVED you!! Why am I not surprised? What a fantastic last evening of your BtB.

You are right, that wine tasting looks great- that second white is one of my favorites, I drink Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc all the time- it's so grapefruity.

Oh- and that breakfast on the last morning...YUCK! I hate it! And not just because we're leaving the ship right after it....I think it is so..."we HAVE to feed them SOMETHING, let's just give them THIS crap from the back of the fridge!" But we go because we want to say goodbye to our servers-

Day 20, September 2

Lunch at Le Cellier

We were a bit in a hurry because we had a lunch reservation at 11.45 and needed to check in at Old Key West and pick up our Keys To The World in order to be able to use our Deluxe Dining Credits.

After about an hour's drive we were greeted by this .....

Check in was a breeze, our villa was ready, we hauled all our stuff up to the second floor, freshened up and off we went to Epcot.
We arrived at LeCellier just in time, the place was already packed and to our huge surprise we were seated within 2 minutes. We had a fun girl server, who was quick to bring out our drinks.

And she brought out the breadsticks, Sourdough, Multigrain and Pretzelbread, which was nice as always.

Since we were on the DxDDP we were entitled to an appetizer, so we picked our two favourites.

The Canadian Cheddar Cheese Soup, made with Moosehead Beer and Smoked Bacon, which we love. It is wonderful to dip the Pretzel bread in it, but even better to dip ............

the Spicy Chicken and Chipotle Sausage, with Roasted Corn Polenta and Sweet Onion Jam. Patrick one of the servers told us that that was the way HE liked it best, we tried it, and it really works well.

Our server was quick to refill our glasses and once we had finished our starters, she brought out our main courses.

I had decided to try something new, the Salmon Croque Madame Sandwich, with prosciutto, poached egg, and Blue Cheese Mornay Sauce and a side of Potato Salad. Now, I love that Mushroom Filet, but this was outstanding. The salmon was pink and moist and well spiced, sitting on the prosciutto and the bread, the poached egg oozing over it and mixing with the Sauce! I was very unsure about the salad, as Austrian potato salad is VERY different to the US variety, but this one was very good, with a nice vinegar taste. Did I mention it before, that I loved this dish?

Now Tom had .........

the famous Le Cellier Mushroom Filet Mignon - with wild mushroom risotto, white truffle and herb butter sauce. (You didn't think you would escape it, Dave? )
He loved it. The risotto was cooked very well, the filet was melt in your mouth tender. A winner ...... as always!

We were both full, but there was still dessert to conquer.

Tom decided on the Chocolate on Chocolate Whiskey Cake - finished with Honey-Thyme Anglaise and a Chocolate-Vanilla Walnut Sauce, which he enjoyed very much, but wasn't able to finish it.

I ordered the Maple Creme Brulee. I hadn't had it in a long time and even though there was just a hint of maple and you needed to know that it was maple to realize it, but it was nice and creamy and a perfect finish for our first meal on the DxDDP.


We had Free Disney Dining Plan which we had upgraded to the DxDDP. We booked through the British Disney Travel company and the cost for nine nights and 2 people was ....... 270 British Pounds = 420 $

So, we paid 420$ for 9 days of DxDDP!

How much did we actually cost Disney?
54 dining credits
36 snack credits
Le Cellier ...... 86,20 (2 DC ......... 52 DC remain)

420$ - 86,20$ = 333,80$

While that breakfast wasn't the worst we ever had, it was just such a letdown compared to the food we had had before. Like you, we wanted to say goodbye to our servers and esp. since we had spent 2 nights in another restaurant! Next time I might be tempted to just go to Beach Blanket!

There are still 10 days of food left! This was only day 20 out of our 30 day vacation!

Sorry this is going to be a post on the dining boards but this fits.

After 10 + days of driving our motor home across U.S. I know what were we thinking. Well we planned to get on Disney Property around noonish. We did not get to go under the Disney Welcome sign . What we did see was so magnificent I made husband pull over first chance so I could breath it all in.

First sight on Disney property was the swan and dolphin's atop each of the resorts. That trip was in 1993 and still takes my breath away thinking about that most wonderful sight.

You're getting me excited for our upcoming Le Cellier lunch. I figured I had to cave into the Dis pressure and try it and we were able to score a lunch adr. I am so looking forward to that cheddar cheese soup...what's not to love? And while I had been thinking beef for my entree...that sandwhich sounds like its right up my alley and something original. I like ordering things in restaraunts that I can't either cook at home or, if I'm at Disney, can't get someplace close to home! I can't believe that you still have that many more days of food to report on! EXCELLENT!
