What did WE celebrate? .. 30 days of Disney fun and food! Update 04/02

I love Disney cruises! I've done 2 4 nights and 1 3 night on the Wonder and then the absolutely "Magical" 11 night Med cruise in May. I'm not sure if I can every do a short cruise again. ;) Who am I kidding, of course I can as long as it is on Disney!

Yumma buffet food, looks delish and I'll bet you had lots of cocktails in those Cruise glasses, did you get to keep them?

Aren't they the BEST?!! :goodvibes

Last year we went on our first cruise which we thought would be our last as well, but we were obviously hooked. Rebooked while on board and went back to back. Since we can only travel for a longer amount of time during the summer we are booked on a back to back to back for summer 2011 - 11 days on board the Dream - a dream come true!

Yay the cruise food has started :cool1:

And more to come shortly! ;)

We did have quite a few cocktails on our cruises. They are yummy! And we did bring home the glasses. The welcome drinks are served in souvenir glasses. Last year we completely forgot about them, this year we got two each! :rotfl2:

Still Day 13, August 26

Disney Wonder - Dinner at Triton's

We were on the late dinner rotation, so we went to watch The Golden Mickeys and afterwards got changed for our dinner at Triton's.

We were seated at an 8top and didn't particularely hit it off with our table mates. One of them was an auctioneer and a been there, don that kind of guy. He knew EVERYTHING!!!!!! (well, he did not, but he thought he did!)

We started our dinner with some drinks!

IMG_6530.jpg

I had the Cosmopolitan L'Orange, Grey Goose L'Orange, Grand Marnier, Cranberry Juice, dash of lime juice :cloud9: - need I say more?

IMG_6531.jpg

Tom had The Royal, Sparkling wine, Crème de Cassis and Peach Schnapps. And this one gets another :cloud9: ;)!

IMG_6535.jpg

Tom ordered the Duck Confit, Salted and Slow-cooked Duck, Dried Prunes, Candied Walnuts, Chicory and Mixed Leaves with Apple Walnut Dressing. He really enjoyed it - I wasn't sure about it at first, but once I had a taste I wished I had ordered it too! ;)

IMG_6533.jpg

For my starter I had ordered the Avocado - Citrus Salad with Iceberg and Radicchio Leaves and an Orange Vinaigrette. I didn't like this at all. The Vinaigrette was far too sweet and made for a boring salad. :sad2:

IMG_6540.jpg

Tom ordered the Slowly Braised Lamb Shank with a Creamy Polenta and Portobello Mushroom in a Red Wine Sauce as his entree. The lamb was melt in your mouth tender and the polenta was creamy and soft and yummy! He really enjoyed it.

IMG_6536.jpg

IMG_6537.jpg

I ordered the Three-Cheese Lobster Macaroni, Lobster Meat, Gruyère, and Cheddar Cheese Sauce tossed with Tubular Pasta and topped with a Parmesan Wafer. Tom had had it the year before and I could not wait to order it myself. Good sized chunks of Lobster tossed in a creamy sauce with slightly overdone pasta. Even though I prefer my pasta a little more al dente, this was still very good. Very tasty! :thumbsup2

Next up were desserts! :cheer2:

IMG_6542.jpg

Tom ordered the Chocolate Mousse with Brandy-marinated Cherries. Yummy!!

I hit the jackpot!!!!!!!!!

IMG_6544.jpg

The Brioche and Pannetone Pudding with Toffee Sauce. OH MY GOD, this was a little piece of heaven. The Pudding was soft and gooey and the toffee sauce was out of this world. I wish I had some right now! Sooooooooo good. Well worth the wait, as the server had brought out the wrong dessert first, and it took a little while for the pudding to arrive!

After dinner we walked back to our stateroom to hand out the first round of Fish Extender gifts.
This is what we found in our stateroom when we first arrived!

IMG_6546.jpg

Arturo had made a magnificent towel animal and left a wonderful photo/DVC ad and some yummy sweets!

When we returned after we had filled the Fish Extenders it was more than about time to finally go to sleep!

Looks absolutely delicious, Karin! I would absolutely love the duck and the pasta.

How annoying about your tablemate- funny how people who seem to know EVERYTHING never know the most important thing of all...they should ZIP IT! :rotfl:

That dessert of yours looked awesome! The pudding and toffee sauce is right up my alley.

We loved the food! Apart from the company ;) we had a wonderful meal! :thumbsup2

Oh, he kept haunting us for all of the three days he was on the cruise! :rotfl2: And he was just so full of himself. You should have seen his wife "looking up" to him.

I would have loved to see his face the day he had to disembark, as he was going to WDW for the day and all he wanted to ride was - IASW!! IASW was closed for refurb and we told him about that - letting him know that we had just spent 12 days at WDW.
Well, guess what - he told us that we must have looked at the wrong "Disneyland" attraction, as his travel agent had told him it was open.:rotfl:

I SO hope they will have something similar on the Dream. Apart from Ohana's breadpudding, that was the best I ever had! :cloud9:

We went on a Disney Cruise in 2005 before my DD was born. Your photos make me want to go again. Maybe I can add it on and my husband won't notice. :rolleyes1

Make it a special surprise for your DH! ;) He will love it! :goodvibes

Awesome Reviews !!!I am so hoping for that Cruise in 2012 !!!!

I really hope you get to go on a Disney cruise! You would love it! :thumbsup2

Day 14, August 27

Disney Wonder - Breakfast at Beach Blanket Buffet

After a good night's sleep we were up early to watch the Disney Wonder glide into Nassau harbour.

IMG_6554.jpg

We had signed up for a tour that day, so after taking showers and getting ready we headed to the Beach Blanket Buffet for some breakfast.

IMG_6560.jpg

IMG_6561.jpg

My plate - tea and orange juice. As you can see I was not very adventurous and had breakfast potatoes - well cooked and well seasoned, bacon and scrambled eggs, some white toast, grapes, which I learned to really love during this trip, a chocolate Mickey waffle - which I didn't like, as it was dry and had a kind of burnt taste, and a grilled tomato.
All in all quite a good breakfast for a buffet.

Tom's plate and his drinks. He had coffee and apple juice and had chosen breakfast potatoes, a breakfast burrito, which he loved, some bacon and a bagel, a grilled tomato, a sausage, which was a bit on the dry side, scrambled eggs and one of the chocolate Mickey Waffles. He didn't like his waffle either. ;)

Beach Blanket has some inside seating and some outside seating too. We were lucky to sit outside in a covered area, so we had the best of both worlds, eating outside, but no direct sunlight! :thumbsup2

Next up - Disney Wonder - Bahamian Treats

Looks like dinner at Triton's was good, apart from some of your company. Was that your table for the whole of the cruise?

Love the Sleepy chocolates, very fitting for a turn down service :teeth:

We really enjoyed Triton's, the company not so much. :lmao: They asign you to a table for the whole cruise and you are "stuck" with your tablemates. ;)
We were at an 8top - there was the know it all couple, a young couple, who were on their first cruise and the guy's brother performed in the Toy Story Show and a couple from NY, who turned out quite nice in the end. But we saw MOST of the "know it all" guy and his wife! :sad2:

Our luck changed for the second cruise! But I am getting ahead of myself!

Morning Karin :wave2:

Your dinner at Tritons looks really good (especially the dessert :cloud9:)

Shame about the companny though

I do hope we get nice table mates on our cruise as I must admit it was one of the things that worried me about booking our first ever cruise

Hi Linda! :goodvibes

You'll enjoy your time on board, just don't worry too much. We never saw the young couple again, and once we got more accustomed to the couple from NY we had some nice company. The thing for us was, that since English is a foreign language for us we needed to try and keep up with the different accents, then try to fit in the correct answer! :lmao:
Once we decided to just nodd at Mr. "know it all" it became a lot more relaxed. :thumbsup2

And during our second cruise we had the most wonderful company - so, just don't worry, enjoy your time on board the dreamlike Disney Dream!

Oh- I bet he became one of "those" people on You Tube...all crazy angry because Splash Mountain was closed for refurb, wanting their $$ back and writing to the CEO to complain- or how about the guy whose vacation was RUINED because the song on CoP was changed- he was writing a letter, too-

Well, I'm glad your dining companion set you straight- how dare you think you might actually know something he doesn't!! :rotfl2:

I never saw chocolate waffles on the Magic (and I guess that's a good thing, huh?), but I did love the tomatoes everyday, and when they had breakfast sandwiches on croissants- those were yummmmmm.:goodvibes I would imagine Tom's burrito was very good- never saw that one either.

Chocolate waffles hide the sin of overcooking....until they reach the palate :lmao: There's no hiding burnt!!

I can quite picture him on youtube! :rotfl: He's the perfect guy to complain about a closed attraction! :lmao:

I think we only had the chocolate waffles once - I really like the regular ones and since I like chocolate too I thought they might be a piece of heaven - well, they weren't!
Tom raved about the burrito. They had yummy breakfast stuff at Beach Blanket!

No, there definitely was NO way to hide that amount of overcooking! :rotfl2:

Disney Wonder - Bahamian Treats

Now, guess who was on the same tour to the Atlantis with us - yes, Mr. "know it all"! :rotfl2:

IMG_6567.jpg

The tour was quite interesting, but too long for my liking, so once it was over we didn't even spend any more time at the Atlantis, we just hopped on the next bus back to the Wonder.

Before we boarded the ship again, Tom wanted to take a look at the Bacardi Store that is just around the corner of the ship.

IMG_6572.jpg

These are the treats we picked up!

IMG_6576.jpg

Rum and rumcake!!! :lmao: :rotfl2:

IMG_6579.jpg

Tom tried the rum and really loved it - when we next anchored in Nassau we picked up even more rum to take home!

IMG_6577.jpg

IMG_6578.jpg

And we picked up these little beauties! Rumcakes!!!!!!!!!!! We had one of them for breakfast on one of our cruisedays and took the other one home!
Not to give away a secret, they were yummy! Sponge cake drenched in rum - now what else can you want?
