What did WE celebrate? .. 30 days of Disney fun and food! Update 04/02

Morning Karin :goodvibes

I really enjoyed the Paolo review, it looks like you had a truly wonderful meal

It was interesting to hear your thoughts on Nassau. We were thinking that because it is our first cruise and it's only three nights we might not get off the ship at all as it would give us more time to explore the ship

Lovely firework photos, do you know if they have fireworks on the three day cruises? I thought it was only the four night ones that have them :confused3

Your starters (apps) and drinks at Palo look divine!

and how fantastic that Mr K-I-A didn't spoil it for you!

More, more, more, please :worship:

Karin - Just wanted to pop in and say I'm reading along and enjoying all of your reviews. I'm super busy and am having a hard time keeping up with all my favorite threads!

Thanks for following along!
I feel with you - I have a feeling as if I am constantly trying to catch up with my threads! :goodvibes Real life gets in the way, but one needs to earn a little money for Mickey! ;)

Wonderful Food Porn Karin!!! The grilles tomatoes for breakfast were a favorite of mine growing up !!! Palo looks delish !!! Thank goodnes Mr Know It All didn't spoil that evening !!!!

I just love anything tomato, and these grilled ones were real good!
Palo is wonderful - if you get to go on one of these cruises, make sure you get a night off to enjoy it! :goodvibes

WOW! Palo looks amazing. I cannot stand people like the Mr. Know It All you described from your first night. I'm sure he probably claimed to know Austria better than you and Tom. :lmao:

Palo IS amazing! They even squeeze your lemons for you, without even touching them! :lmao:
The good thing about speaking another language is that you can always pretend NOT to understand his wise-cracking! :rotfl2:

The tuna carpaccio, breads and dips, and the chocolate souffle are really calling my name. I might have to consider a Disney cruise next time just so I can go to Palo!

:thumbsup2 YEAH!!! Another one convinced to do a Disney cruise! :lmao: Maybe I should let THEM read my threads and ask for a special discount! :lmao:

Palo food is just outstanding! Can't wait to go back in August!!

We really enjoyed our dinner at Palo. Quiet, no rushing, adults only - what else can you ask for? ;)

If you are taking a 3 day cruise I would NOT take a tour. You can easily walk into Nassau and have a look around. Spend the rest of your time on board. There is so much to see and do, you won't get bored.
Read your personal navigator every day - they have special activities on board every day. We went to a cooking demonstration and a wine tasting and we will try to fit in a few more of those activities next summer.
Oh, and the adult pool and coffee shop are w-o-n-d-e-r-f-u-l!!!!!!!!! :cloud9:

They DO HAVE fireworks on the 3 night cruises - the cruise I am reviewing right now was a 3 night one!! The fireworks are after the pirate party - don't forget to leave room for the buffet (lots of sweet treats and some savoury as well) after the party!!! :thumbsup2

Palo rocks! We get as many reservations as we can there - it is SO worth the little extra you pay to eat there!

More coming up shortly!

Day 15, August 28

Disney Wonder - Room Service Breakfast

It was Castaway Cay day!!

So we got up early and had a Room Service Breakfast, so we would be able to head out first thing we were allowed to!

Beware! If you order at 7am - they will deliver at 7am SHARP!!!! :lmao:

IMG_6673.jpg

Bread selection - toast and bagel. And there are two croissants hidden there somewhere!

IMG_6671.jpg

Tray with tea selection and Tom's coffee!!

IMG_6672.jpg

A fruit bowl for Tom and some orange juice for me! Nothing special, but we got what we ordered!

Next up - Disney Wonder - Liquid Snacks from Castaway Air Bar

Day 15, August 28

Disney Wonder - Castaway Air Bar

We were off the Wonder as soon as we were allowed to and made our way over to Serenity Bay, the adults only beach.

IMG_6675.jpg

We found the perfect beach chairs for us and enjoyed the view and the beach.

IMG_6678.jpg

Needless to say we needed something to drink! A Konch Kooler,
Myers's Original Dark Rum, Bacardi Rum, and pina colada mix mixed with our orange passion guava blend
Verdict???? :cloud9:  :cloud9:  :cloud9:

Next up - Disney Wonder - Lunch At Cookie's BBQ

Konk Koolers are the best! :) gotta love free room service too.

Cruising with Disney is the best! :thumbsup2 You really need to get in on one! And if it includes tours - all the better! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you! :goodvibes

You are very welcome! And if you have any more questions, just ask! I'd love to help if I can! :goodvibes

Still Day 15, August 28

Disney Wonder - Serenity Bay Barbeque Station

We spent most of the morning, swimming and enjoying the quiet beach. Around noon we were hungry again and we walked the few steps over to the Serenity Bay Barbeque Station.

IMG_6687.jpg

On the way over we came across this "flower" which looked just amazing!

IMG_6690.jpg

IMG_6688.jpg

The Barbeque Station offers quite a few different things and has a wonderful salad bar. You can see that Tom really liked the offerings! ;)
Cucumber, tomatoes and some Greek Salad, an amazing potato salad and he had some grilled beef - sorry, don't remember exactly what it was. He liked it a lot though!

IMG_6689.jpg

My plate looked a lot like Tom's, cucumbers, tomato, the amazing potato salad and some very yummy coleslaw. I had the grilled Mahi Mahi instead of the beef and it was not dry at all, even though it must have been prepared beforehand. Very yummy plate of food!

Needless to say we needed to try dessert!

IMG_6692.jpg

Some fresh, juicy and sweet pineapple, a chocolate chip cookie and I think the other was upside down pineapple cake.

IMG_6694.jpg

Tom loves his fruit, which were all ripe and cold and juicy and yummy. And a little piece of the upside down cake.

While we had lunch WHO should we see walk up to Serenity Bay??? Yip, Mr. Know it all. Luckily he didn't see us, so we were spared his comments about what HE had done to make it even better!
Next up - Disney Wonder - more liquid snacks from the Castaway Air Bar

That food looks completely different from what we had on CC at the other BBQ...Hmmmmm....I really need to dump these kids next time! :scared1: :rotfl:

This cruise is FLYING by!! How wonderful you got to experience CC twice in one trip with the BTB-:cloud9: :cloud9: That is just heavenly!

Oh- and great job hiding from Mr. Knowitall!! But I'm sure you heard all about the right way to experience CC that night at dinner...:sad2:

We've never ever made it to the other BBQ! It is just too relaxing at Serenity Bay.
Imagine this - NO lines for the BBQ, quiet tables with only adults around. Don't get me wrong - I love kids, but having lunch there is just sooooo different.

Our b2b was over before we even realized it! That's why we are taking 3 cruises in a row next time. It was so much fun because during the second cruise most of the crew recognized us and we had the best time.

That Konch Kooler, that beach, that mahi and salad, well it's all right up my street...just have to come up with a plan to ditch the kids for the day!!!

And OMG Karin, you're doing 3 BTB cruises in August? Wow wow wow! I know about 21st and 25th, (we were going to go on 21st as you know) so are you doing the one after or before?

I still have a few "nice" photos of that beach! :cloud9: It's unbelievable!

Yes, we are doing 3 b2b cruises in August! First one is the one starting on the 21st, then the one on the 25th and finally the one that starts on the 28th. 11 nights - 12 days on board the Disney Dream - a dream come true! ;) ............. and three days at Castaway Cay!

Still Day 15, August 28

Disney Wonder - Serenity Bay Castaway Air Bar

After lunch we dragged ourselves back to our deckchairs,

IMG_6695.jpg

did a little swimming but finally we were thirsty again! ;) :rotfl2:

IMG_6696.jpg

I can't exactly remember what this was, but my best guess is ...... :rotfl: this is a Mai Tai! :confused3

IMG_6698.jpg

I remember Tom's drink though - a Tropical Depression, Light rum, vodka, gin and blue curacao mixed with grenadine, sprite, and a splash of sweet-and-sour. We were hoping this would be the ONLY kind of tropical depression we would run into that summer! ;)

After more swimming and enjoying the sun we had to make our way back to the wonderful Disney Wonder! :thumbsup2

IMG_6706.jpg

IMG_6707.jpg

It was time to leave the island, but we knew we would be back in just three more days! :woohoo:
