Welcome back. I am enjoying your DLP dining review. Those burgers look good enough to eat! and I would love to have one of those Chocolate Eclairs. (I can't believe it has been over 26 years since I have had a real French Eclair) Mick and I liked the pictures of the Toy Story Playland. I also liked the dinner and breakfast you had, reminds me of the breakfast selections I had on the Wonder. Cold cuts, cheese, and a good crusted roll. I almost forgot, your Caramel Macchiato, Starbucks must be the best in the world, or at least I know that it is my favorite.

The Toy Story Playland is just so cute. But it was packed!!! We never got to ride anything there because I refuse to stand in line for 2 hours for a 1 minute ride !
We love the French food - especially the baguette and sweets and you are so right, it is just what we had on the Wonder. Can't wait to see the Dream! Did you check out their website - a reservation at Remy costs you an additional $75!!!! Not sure we'll do that on our triple cruise next summer!
Palo has gone up to $20 extra - I can justify that, but 75$????????? Will have to wait for the menu to decide!

Day 4, Nov 2

Part 1, another breakfast

Our last day had started and we began it with a trip to our favourite bakery for more baguette and a sweet treat before we had to leave our villa.

This is what Tom got! ........... Oh, you wanna have a look inside? Here ya go!

A raisin pastry. It was loaded with raisins and even though you would think it would be a heavy piece of pastry it was surprisingly light and delicious.

Guess you can tell what was in my little package!

Yip, another eclair, told you I need at least one a day when in France. A chocolate one, which was sooooooo good.

The rest of the breakfast was pretty much the same as all the other days and we used up the rest of the lunch meats for sandwiches to take "on the road" with us.

Part 2, Main Street Candy Store and Cable Car Bake Shop

When we arrived at the park we were greeted by some changes that had taken place overnight.

Most of the Halloween decorations were gone and Christmas had come to Disneyland Park.

We went through the stores and took some photos in the Main Street Candy Store

There were less people around so we were able to fit in some rides.

By late morning we were ready for a snack and went to the Cable Car Bake Shop.

There were lots of things on display and silly me choose the only thing that looked a little Halloween!

Tom had Cafe au lait and I had a cappuccino. Once we opened the lids they looked very similar!

Tom didn't feel like anything sweet and I picked this "cupcake" like thing. Actually it was a plain, hard yellow muffin, topped with some orange coloured cream cheese icing and a broken chocolate and sprinkles dipped ice cream cone.
As I mentioned before the "muffin" was HARD. We joked that it must have been from last years Halloween - one bite was all I had. The icing was nice, but too sweet and the cone was soft and chewy and had been sitting there far too long by the way it tasted. Thank god we get 10% off of our food bills with our APs! Next time I will go with something totally different, no more French cupcakes for me!

Part 3, Colonel Hathi's Pizza Outpost

By early afternoon we decided that we needed a hot meal before we left for the airport. So we went to Mr. Toads and it was packed, we went to Hakuna Matata and the line was out the door. We went to the Cowboy Cookout and it was packed and they had a country band playing, loud, real loud, no thank you!
One last try, Colonel Hathi's Pizza Outpost. Not really our first choice as their pizza is not very good, but at least we might get a seat there. We did, they had several empty tables and there was one "short" line to the cashier.
Well, it took me more than 20 minutes to place my order, then another 5 to pick up our food.

A four cheese pizza. Yes, the box is cute and the lukewarm pizza was mediocre. NOTHING to write home about.

And this is a Pizza Royale. Ham, cheese and olives. Very basic pizza as well. Before you ask - these are the ONLY two pizzas on the menu! The only other two items were two pasta dishes which were served in paper containers and looked like they had been sitting there for a while.

Again, we were happy that we had applied our discount!

Part 4, snacks by Lufthansa

Our flights were on time and on the flight from Paris CDG they served

ham sandwiches! We had some Coke to wash them down and while they were no gourmet food they were still surprisingly nice for airplane food.

On the second leg of our trip, the flight from Frankfurt to Linz we found our snack already on our seats when we got on the plane!

A small packet of pizza flavoured chips. These were rather thick baked dough chips, which were quite nice, but you definitely needed some drinks with them.

We arrived at the airport at 10.45pm and we were at Tom's place at 11.30pm and I was finally home at midnight. I needed to get up again at 5.30, so all I did was fall right into my bed!

And, I am quite sure there is a veggie burger on the menu! The place is fun and if you like that kind of thing - I can REALLY recommend the cheesecake!

I'm never going to get my next installment up on my TR because everyone else keeps beating me to it and I have to catch up on theirs. I don't know how I missed several reviews by you. Your breakfasts at home look better than some of th emeals you had out (and that Starbucks thing didn't look anything like the picture nor how they make them here). Your Eclairs look fabulous and I can almost taste that chocolate.

Yes Karen I did see the extra price for Remy's, I thought the same thing. I will definitely make reservations for Palo this time, but Mick told me he wouldn't pay $75 when there is food that is very good available at no extra charge.

I would really like to try Remy, but not for $150 for two, PLUS their dress code seems pretty strict and I really don't want to lug around a dinner jacket, that only gets used once on a 4 week trip!
Guess we'll see quite a bit of the Palo servers then! I wonder if Michele (server from 2009) will be there again?

Lufthansa feeds its passengers pretty well, but if you want to have REAL top notch airline food, try flying Austrian or FlyNiki!

Don't worry Kathy, I am behind on most every TR since I wanted to post DLRP quickly, so I can go on with my WDW reviews!
We loved the meals at the villa - it is so relaxing to just sit in front of the telly and nibble away.
I was so disappointed with the Starbucks coffee - I mean it did taste NICE, but it didn't look anything like the picture.
Guess you can tell I love anything choux pastry filled with either chocolate or coffee! They were so good, especially the ones from the little bakery.

Wow! Disneyland Hotel is awesome, you are so going to love it!
As for dining - the California Grill in the Disneyland Hotel is real grand - though rather expensive! For restaurants in the parks - Walt's in the MK is quite nice, but a meal there can be quite time consuming. We also love the Silver Spur Steakhouse - don't know about their veggie options though. PLEASE stay away from the Remy buffet - it was HORRIBLE

As for the Disney Village - guess you know about our new found love for Annette's Diner - we have been to the Steakhouse there as well, but it has been a mixed blessing - 2 out of 3 times we were not too happy with parts of the meal.
We have not been to the hotel restaurants, but I have read that they are quite good - so you might want to consider them.

Many things have changed around the parks, but they are still lots of fun. If you haven't been to the Studios - there are lots of new rides!
Oh, and Indy is going forward again - I liked it better going backwards!

Okay, now on to our regularly scheduled programme - back to WDW dining!

Still Day 8, August 21

A very late snack from Wolfgang Puck's Express

We had some relaxing time back at the villa - Tom was making use of the jacuzzi and I was checking my email and keeping in contact with friends. By 10 we discussed if we should get a late night snack as we still had CS credits to burn.
We decided to drive to DTD, get a WPE sandwich to share and enjoy it back at OKW.

We decided on a Rotisserie Turkey Club - avocado, bacon, red onion, plum tomatoes, romaine and remoulade. It was more than enough for the two of us to share and there was a lot of soft juicy turkey in the sandwich. The salad and veggies made it very tasty.
It came with fries and even though they were getting cold by the time we had them they were still very tasty.

We ordered a Caesar salad to go with it and it was really good. Even that late at night the salad was fresh and the dressing was so tasty. There was lots of grated parmesan and even a tomato bruschetta.

We ordered a bottle of water (to be used for coffee, as the tap water was really tasting of clorine) and a brownie, which we never tried. Sorry, no photo either.

Price breakdown:

Yes, we have tried most of the Disney Village and park restaurants.
We love Walt's, even though we have been through the menu a few times by now! Their food is quite nice.
The Silverspur Steakhouse is very good, even though their meat mostly comes out a bit undercooked, so I tend to order medium well and receive perfect medium!
We did really like the Blue Lagoon, but have lately had a few bad meals there. It is still nice to sit IN the Pirates of the Caribbean ride, but I would not really recommend it for its food. We haven't been in a year though, so maybe they HAVE changed the quality.
I hated Remy's Restaurant in the Studios whatever it is called. The only items on the buffet we liked were the kids pizza and nuggets and the desserts. The other things had a bit of an off taste.
As you can see by my reviews, we love Annette's Diner. Very good burgers and yum desserts.
The other restaurant in the village we have been to is the steakhouse and out of 6 main courses we had two we had problems with. One was grilled fish, can't remember what it was, which came out stone-cold and the other was a burger which was supposed to be an Angus burger and tasted like a cheap pre-made frozen pattie.

I remember Annette's from our last trips and we loved it too. Loved that the servers wore rollerskates to serve. Do they still do that now?

We are thinking about trying out Walt's and Inventions, as Dave saw someones review of the place and the amount of food there, looks delish
