What did WE celebrate? .. 30 days of Disney fun and food! Update 04/02

This is bringing back memories of our trip to Disneyland Resort Paris. It is a very nice place, but I found it very different to the American Disney parks! :)

Oh my...my mouth is watering! That is right up my alley.

Great start to your Paris portion of your dining review. Those burgers look really good.

The Italian Burger is just soooooo me !!!I am drooling !! That dessert you had is very close behind in drools !!!:lmao:

This is bringing back memories of our trip to Disneyland Resort Paris. It is a very nice place, but I found it very different to the American Disney parks! :)

Everything is different in France! :rotfl2:
There are lots of things that are just like the US parks, but the layout is different and they have quite a few rides they don't have in the US.
To be honest - I prefer the US parks, but since they are 10 hours on a plane away, DLRP will have to do for "in-between, I need my Disney fix" trips! ;)

Oh my...my mouth is watering! That is right up my alley.

Dave, this was SOOOOOOOOOOO good! We went to Annette's a second time and I had a hard time not ordering it again! If I hadn't had to take food pix I would have gone for it twice!!!!!!!!! I hope they keep it on the menu! :thumbsup2

Great start to your Paris portion of your dining review. Those burgers look really good.

Dining options have dwindled at DLRP inside the parks. Their menus haven't changed much in the last years, but the prices have gone uuuuuuuuuup! Not so much quality - it went the other way.
Annette's is in the Disney Village, kind of a DTD area and we have been there before and had a decent experience. This time they really hit it big time. The food was real good and so were the desserts!

The Italian Burger is just soooooo me !!!I am drooling !! That dessert you had is very close behind in drools !!!:lmao:

Good choice, Rosie! This "Hot Italian" was real yummy and the dessert was SOOOOOO good too!

Hmmmmm - thanks for the review - thinking about trying Annette's next week- somehow I always end up at one of the buffets. But I am really longing for a good burger.:)

Part 3, Park food

We were finally able to check in and get to our villa. We went to check it out and found that the door was a bit of a pain, you had to slam it shut, otherwise it would open again and the key was really hard to turn.

IMG_8758.jpg

So after returning and changing the key we settled in and had a bit of a rest before we headed to Disneyland Park again.

Here are the first two "food" items we came across ....

IMG_8437.jpg

Mickey cookies

IMG_8438.jpg

and chocolate!

We wandered the parks a bit since it was packed and there was no chance to ride anything without a hefty wait, which we did not fancy.

Here's what peeked my interest .... well, not in a good way

IMG_8457.jpg

They are selling readymade cups of noodles all over the park and the price is so not in relation to this cup of "something" :scared1:

Part 4, French food

The park was open until 10pm, but by 7.30pm we were done. We had been up since 3.30am and we needed a rest, so we headed back to our villa and had a leisurely cold dinner.

IMG_8495.jpg

IMG_8498.jpg

IMG_8497.jpg

Heavenly baguette from a small bakery just down the road. The one on the left is your "regular" melt in your mouth, airy and light on the inside, and crusty on the outside white baguette. The one on the right with the pointed end is a "Traditional" sourdough baguette. Has more texture and was wonderful. Not as soft on the inside but with a proper bread taste.

IMG_8502.jpg

We got some chips, tomatoes and some of our favourite salt. :lmao:

IMG_8503.jpg

IMG_8505.jpg

This is a filled bread with bacon and goats cheese. It is light and flakey and really addictive - you cannot stop until it is all gone! ;)

IMG_8499.jpg

Some lunch meats we had picked up

IMG_8501.jpg

French cream cheese with herbs, very good!

IMG_8500.jpg

Camembert from D'Isigny sur mere. Very famous and so good.

IMG_8506.jpg

Tom got some different beers to wash it all down, now this praticular one comes from Britain, but we just liked its name.

Sure we needed dessert!

IMG_8507.jpg

Hmmmmmmmm, what could that be? :rolleyes1

IMG_8513.jpg

Yes, it IS a real french eclair. These things are so good and the bakery does them exceptionally well. I loved every bite of it.

IMG_8511.jpg

Tom decided on trying the Nifflets - puff pastry shells filled with custard and baked. Yes, they were nice, but no where near as good as my eclair! ;)

We finished the evening in front of the TV. Tom had brought some episodes of CSI as the TVs there only have French channels.

Hmmmmm - thanks for the review - thinking about trying Annette's next week- somehow I always end up at one of the buffets. But I am really longing for a good burger.:)

We can definitely give Annette's a huge :thumbsup2! The burgers were very good and so were the desserts.
You should get a decent burger at Walt's IF Walt's burger is still on the menu. They make it to order and it was really good last time we had it.
Silver Spur Steakhouse is good too, not sure if the offer a burger though. :confused3

Day 2, Oct 31

Part 1, Breakfast, very similar to dinner ;)

We slept in on Sunday. We knew that we would get to bed real late as we wanted to go to the Halloween Party at Disneyland Paris.

So after getting up and getting ready we drove over to the bakery and picked up some more baguette and goodies for breakfast.

You might find it VERY similar to dinner! :lmao: Mostly because it consists of about the same items. :rotfl2:

IMG_8515.jpg

Starting out with the whole table - same things as yesterday PLUS three mystery packages! :yay: :rolleyes1

IMG_8517.jpg

Yip! Package one was another one of the filled breads. The only other option they had available was Roquefort cheese and since Tom doesn't like blue cheese too much, we decided on another goats cheese and bacon one! YUM!!

IMG_8518.jpg

IMG_8523.jpg

Next up was Tom's almond pastry! This has rose water and loads of ground almonds as well as flaked ones! I had a bite and it was SO good!

IMG_8521.jpg

I love these! They are called "religieuse" and are basically two pieces of choux pastry which are filled (in this case coffee flavoured) and put together with icing and buttercream. I can tell you this thing IS heavenly:cloud9:

IMG_8524.jpg

Stomachs filled we headed out the door and over to the Walt Disney Studios Park.

Still Day 2, Oct 31

Part 2, Starbucks

It was a holiday weekend, the parks were packed and we weren't in the mood for 90 - 120 minutes waits, so we just walked around and explored the Studios, especially the new Toy Story Playland.

IMG_8534.jpg

IMG_8536.jpg

IMG_8539.jpg

IMG_8563.jpg

As there was no way we could ride anything we decided to leave the park. Once outside we saw that the balloon was up, so we decided that would be what we wanted to do next.

You have to cross the Disney Village to get to the balloon and while "on route" we were distructed by this!

IMG_8572.jpg

We went inside and ordered and this is what we actually got ........

IMG_8569.jpg

IMG_8570.jpg

It didn't look ANYTHING like the photo and I was a bit disappointed. The taste was nice though. Lots of caramel in the coffee made it real treat.

We sat for a while enjoying the beverage and the hustle and bustle of the Disney Village before we finally headed over to the balloon.

hi Karin, I've been AWOL for a while and just catching up now.....(just back from a week to Vegas/Disneyland though) and wanted to say WOW WOW WOW.

Now GFC is an absolute hidden treasure in my book and I could very happily eaten either the dish that you or Tom ordered and as we're confessing I WOULD have licked clean a bowl that tasted of melted Terrys chocolate orange:lmao:

Looking forward to more yummy deliciousness:)

Three times to Paris and never went to Disneyland Paris (I was so close the last time we were in Paris...my husband said ok we can take a day trip but then he convience me we should go to Giveny...it was beautiful but wished we could have gone to DLP...he said one day)
Those baguettes reminds me of found memories...we would get them ever morning and have french cheesh...yummy. French bread is one of the best and ice cream.

Ok, I have to admit that the French stuff had me drooling more than anything else. Yum. I love really great bread (I hear they do a good baguette there in France...:lmao:) and Camembert.

Did you guys walk over to the bakery? I could eat those items laid out on your table - 3 meals a day! I love a good baguette!

Wow! Vegas and Disneyland, lucky you!

Yes, the GFC is a hidden gem! We have always had good food and good service there. And we will definitely return!

I'll try to finish my DLRP mini review and once I am done there is lots more WDW and Disney Wonder yummyness to come!

Loved the mini-review! Someday I'll get to DLR!

You have to put DLRP on your list, Tina! It is beautiful - not as many food choices, but the park itself is different and very nice! :thumbsup2

There's lots to see in Paris and France, but I think you should put DLRP on your priority list when you next visit the area! It's really worth it.

Yes, the baguettes in France are out of this world! They definitely know how to make good bread! ;) And cheese! ;) :lmao:

Ok, I have to admit that the French stuff had me drooling more than anything else. Yum. I love really great bread (I hear they do a good baguette there in France...:lmao:) and Camembert.

Well Tina, we actually look forward to the baguette and cheese as much as we do to the vacation itself! :lmao:
The baguette there is out of this world. A nice crust on the outside and the inside is light and fluffy and airy. Melts in your mouth, soooooooo good! We usually get a baguette when we arrive and just nibble on it without anything else.
It is addictive though - you can never stop eating it! :rotfl2:

The bakery was in walking distance - guess it would have been a 5 minute walk, but since we had the car parked in front of our villa we always drove. ;)
As you can see from my dining review we DID live off the stuff on the table and had it more than once. We just decided to have one hot meal a day and we did not fancy cooking ourselves! ;)
Other than that we lived out of the fridge and off of fresh baguette!

Still Day 2, Oct 31

Part 3, Planet Hollywood

After our coffee break we walked over to the balloon, paid and got in line.

IMG_8574.jpg

When we were back to the solid ground we decided to have an early dinner and tried to get into Planet Hollywood. The restaurant was rather full, but we were seated within minutes.

IMG_8606.jpg

We both ordered a Diet Coke, and yes, this is a regular size and there are NO free refills!

IMG_8607.jpg

IMG_8609.jpg

Tom ordered a Philly Steak and Cheese sandwich, shaved beef, sautéed onions & peppers and Swiss cheese served on a steak roll, served with french fries. I had a bite and it was very nice. The beef was tender and the cheese sharp, a little bit too many onions for MY liking, but Tom loved it the way it was.
The server had made a mistake in taking my order and brought out a pepperoni pizza, so Tom got his food, while I had to wait until my order was recooked.

IMG_8610.jpg

I had ordered a Margaritha Pizza, fresh tomatoes, basil and mozzarella cheese. We do not go out for pizza often, so whenever I feel like it on vacation I have some! ;)
This pizza was amazingly good. I was prepared for a thick frozen base, but this one was very nice and tasted fresh. There was enough cheese to give the pizza a good taste and the tomatoes were fresh and ripe. I really enjoyed it. We did not have dessert as we had satisfied our sweet tooth efficiently with the Caramel coffee.

We rested in the villa for some time, before heading back to the park for the Halloween Party.

Day 3, Nov 1

Part 1, Annette's Diner

We only got back after 1am in the morning, so we slept in, then had some breakfast that looked just like the one the day before.

We made it to the parks around midday and around 2pm we decided to have some lunch. All the park restaurants were packed so we thought we would just try Annette's again.

The line was long - it started way outside the restaurant, but it moved fairly quickly and we were seated after about 15 minutes waiting.

We both ordered Diet Cokes again.

IMG_8717.jpg

IMG_8719.jpg

Tom had the Sweet Boeuf and Chick Combo Burger. A grilled chicken breast and a burger served in a bagel with bacon, cheese, onion ring, sweet chili sauce and french fries. This was huge and VERY good. He really enjoyed it.

IMG_8712.jpg

IMG_8713.jpg

My mouth was watering for the All New Frenchie Blue Cheese Burger. Ground beef, Spanish potato tortilla, bacon, blue cheese, sour cream, french fries and coleslaw. It not only looked good, it tasted good as well. The Blue Cheese got a bit overpowering at time, but I LOVE blue cheese, so that was no big deal for me. The coleslaw was much better this time. Lots more flavour.

IMG_8714.jpg

IMG_8715.jpg

We shared a side of Cesar salad, french style. It was quite different from the Cesar salad we had had in the states, with a lighter dressing and more anchovy flavour. It tasted nice and fresh and was perfect to go with the burgers.

IMG_8724.jpg

IMG_8725.jpg

Tom ordered the one of Annette's deluxe milkshakes. He chose Oreo cookie flavour and it was rich and thick and tasted of Oreos! He really LOVED it! Bonus ....... it was HUGE!

IMG_8728.jpg

IMG_8729.jpg

I had a really hard time not to order the cheesecake again, so I went for my all time love, chocolate, and ordered the Sticky and Sweet Chocolate Cake, rich gooey chocolate cake, strawberry sauce, light vanilla flavoured custard, grilled almonds and whipped cream. While it was not gourmet cake it was very nice and came out slightly warm with a gooey center. The dark chocolate cake went really well with the sauces and needless to say all that was left behind was the whipped cream - there was just too much of it.

We went shopping again in the afternoon at the Val d'Europe center and brought home more treats and this was one of them.

IMG_8733.jpg

A Coffee eclair!

Not as good as the one from the bakery but they were closed that day and I need my choux pastry fix when I am in France! ;)

Welcome back. I am enjoying your DLP dining review. Those burgers look good enough to eat! and I would love to have one of those Chocolate Eclairs. (I can't believe it has been over 26 years since I have had a real French Eclair) Mick and I liked the pictures of the Toy Story Playland. I also liked the dinner and breakfast you had, reminds me of the breakfast selections I had on the Wonder. Cold cuts, cheese, and a good crusted roll. I almost forgot, your Caramel Macchiato, Starbucks must be the best in the world, or at least I know that it is my favorite.
