your kitchen if it had white cabinets, white appliances, light hardwood floors, and gray countertops? I don't think its been touched since the white contractors coat they put on it when the house was buit. I have decided to paint it myself because it really needs to be done and we don't have the money to have it done by someone else. It is mostly areas between the countertops and cabinets and above the cabinets so no real big walls. My husband says any color is fine, he just doesn't want a bold dark color. I am so bad at colors, any suggestions?

Oh, and the knobs are silver, but not refelctive shiny more of a brushed finish.

I would paint it yellow. But I always like yellow kitchens. :goodvibes

I am painting my kitchen yellow. The color is called Spiced Butternut and it is not a bright yellow but more of a deep yellow. Just a thought

Well the first color that came to my mind was crimson or a farmhouse red. But that would be right square in what your husband doesn't want. My dining room is coral on top with white lower walls and a white chair rail. We get lots of compliments on it. Our floors are a dark wood though.

I'm not much on yellow, myself, but I admit to having seen a lot of yellow kitchens that were cute. What about a teal? Still too dark? It would be pretty and really unusual. I tend to like jewel tones and earth tones. The coral was my one concession to cheerfulness LOL

My first thought was also Yellow, my kitchen is yellow and I love it.

But, I also think a soft blue-gray would be nice if you don't want to go so bold.

That was my first instinct, a blue gray but I didn't know if that would feel to cold since its so white to begin with. I also like earth tones and was thinking of a light terra cota maybe?

I do like yellow, however the only other room in the house that is painted something other than white is my daughters room and that is yellow!

A blue-grey would be my choice. It is what is really "in" right now. Just put some polished silver knobs or handles on the cabinets and it will look very modern.

I would suggest getting some samples and trying a few that you like. I painted my dining room yellow when we first moved in our house and I hated it. I have a white dining table and white dish cabinets. After doing the entire room, I ended up painting over it. I should have tried samples first and saved myself time and money.

I don't think yellow would look good with grey countertops. I would paint it a greyish blue or a shade of green that has more grey tone than yellow.
Are the counters solid grey? light or dark? Maybe a nice medium to dark khaki color would work.

If the blue-gray seems too cold on it's own, you could accent with yellows (dish towels, dishes, etc.). Blue and yellow compliment each other.

The countertops are speckly medium gray

I'd go with a nice slate blue, as well. At first, I thought maybe a deep red would be cute, but after I read about your husband not wanting anything too bold, I think you'd be better with the blue. I don't know if a terra cotta would clash with the counters? Try a couple of samples and see what you like.

PP beat me to it - I was going to say sage green. It's warmer than blue so the kitchen won't feel too cold.

I agree with a shade of green. I have a green apple that is a bit more toned down that I got from Sherwin Williams. My counters are a dark gray, so the contrast is nice, but not over the top. It also creates a warmer space.

I'd do it yellow...but I agree that with the neutral colors you have you could get away with just about any color.

I would say either a sagey green, greyish blue, or maybe yellow. I would go and buy the samples from Home Depot. I got some of those for my basement and ended up hating all of them. Well worth the $3!

Grey. It's a very popular color right now.
