I recently been having problems with my heels (plantar fascilitis) and I am going to WDW, USF/IOA and Sea World in November. I am wondering what your opinions would be on the most comfortable tennis shoes that I can buy?
Thanks!

its not really the brand of the show but the fit that is the best. Personally, I like the Nike Shox currently but then again I have only been wearing one of them while crutching around for the past 2 months. Very comfortable hopping sneakers.

Really, you should go out and try all the different ones and then pick the ones that are the most comfortable to your actual foot. You may have a wide or narrow foot that need a specific fit. Then wear these shoes as much as possible. They should be completely broken in before your trip. I would never even think of wearing a new pair of sneakers to Disney. Also, you could look into the insoles that you can buy for your shoes to give your heels a little bit more cushioning.

I swear by New Balance because they come so many different widths.

I too have plantar fasciitis and recently went to running store that specialized in fitting you properly. They watched me walk and asked me some questions and brought out several pair and watched me in each one. They suggested New Balance as well. Also you need an excellent arch support and I added an insole called Superfeet. The tennis shoe I bought was the slip on kind (open back) and I wore them all day. The next morning I had very little pain in my feet for the 1st time in a long time. I actually went back to the store to thank the lady and buy a 2nd pair for work.

I work in physical therapy in a hospital and run up/down steps and very active and was worried aboutu the open back styling but they stay out just fine. You need to find a place that can help fit you if you are having foot pains. Try to find a running store in your area (NOT a 'FootLocker'). This store was called Run On. You may ask a podiatrist or other doctor if they know of a good specialty store.

I work in physical therapy also, so let me see if I can help you out a bit. I've heard that New Balance is a great shoe, particularly if you have width "issues", but I will highly suggest Asics Gel shoes because they have better arch support. Be mindful of this however, initially, they may make your pain worse if the arch is too high... ease into it.

A couple of other tips I can offer: stretch - A LOT! PM me if you'd like me to email you some therapuetic stretches for PF. Fill a plastic 20 oz coke bottle with water, freeze it, and roll your foot over the top of it several times a day for 15-20 minutes. And finally, if you can afford it, visit a good massage therapist for a wonderful foot treatment. You will feel better instantly!

Hope you feet feel better!

Another vote for New Balance. I am on my 2nd pair and love them. Be sure to get fitted for them as you tend to need a bigger size to give your toes room to move around as you walk. I made that mistake on my 1st pair (I wasnt fitted for them). I bought my normal size and my toes kept hitting the front of the shoe, making it uncomfortable.

Before every trip to wdw i buy a new pair of adiddas running shoes. I don't even have to break them in before i leave. They are just great shoes and i figure if they are good enough to run in. they are good enough to walk around wdw.:wave2:

I can't believe that nobody likes adiddas shoes...

I actually sell men's shoes and sometimes women's shoes and the four brands people tend to buy again and again are: New Balance, Rockport, Easy Spirit, and Ecco. I personally find New Balance and Nike to be my favorites!

Have you ever tried Skechers? I can't wear Nike and some of the other well known brands, but I love my Skechers! I can even wear kids sizes (adult 8=child 6) They are the best!

I have had a lot of luck with Ryka's. I bought them from QVC.

New Balance. The most comfortable shoes I've ever had. I can walk miles in these shoes.

My DH wants me to add that as far as he has found - New Balance is the only one made in the good old USA :cheer2:

DH and I are both New Balance people... 2 votes here::yes:: ::yes::

New Balance. I've bought a brand new pair the day before we left each of the last 2 years (not even breaking them in), and my feet felt fine walking around all week long while at Disney. I do buy 1/2" higher in size to allow my feet to breathe and give them more room, though, and this helps. The NB 717 for both men and women is a great shoe, and only about $60 or so.

As a physical therapist, I treat alot of plantar fascitis, heel spurs and other foot problems. The best advice is to go to a running store and have your foot and gait analyzed. Everyone's foot is different, and the shoes are designed different. If you take out the insole, you will see the inside stitching, it's called the Last. A cardboard last will give you more heel stability. Also, if your foot is straight or slightly curved, itwill change what shoe is right for you. The wrong curve will make the outside of the foot uncomfortable. A PT will be able to evaluate your condition, treat and prescribe exercises that will help. Many MD's do not realize that PT can help the condition. Good luck!!

i love my new balance. most comfortable athletic shoes i've owned in a long time.
