What book are you reading?

Mercy by Jodi Pecoult...actually just getting ready to start it. It's on my nightstand table waiting for me to pick up. Just finished Feather On The Moon by Phyllis A. Whitney.

Marley and Me. Great book!!!
I can see "Marley and Me" in my future. It's supposed to be excellent. :paw:

I'm reading A Deadly Game: The Untold Story of the Scott Peterson Investigation by Catherine Crier. It's intriguing so far.

Just finished "Forever Odd" by Dean Koontz. Not as good as "Odd Thomas," but it was o.k.

I am reading In Her Shoes by Jennifer Weiner. I loved Little Earthquakes by her I suggest it for anybody who had a baby recently.
I just bought My Sisters Keeper so I should be reading that one soon. I also agree James Pattersons books are a quick read. I just read Hide and Seek in two days.

The Boys of Winter. It is about the 1980 US Olympic Hockey team. I am also rereading Wicked....further cementing my belief that the book is far superior to the show.

Wow, its funny you should say that. I read the book and thought it was the biggest piece of trash I had ever read and wondered how the writers of the show could take that nonsense and come up with something that actually made sense out of it.

I've been on a memoir kick lately, just finished both Angela's Ashes and 'Tis by Frank McCourt (both absolutely fantastic) and now I'm just about finished up with Coming of Age in Mississippi by Anne Moody. The latter is also good but it's really tough to come off of Frank McCourt's lyrical prose to something written in a much more straightforward manner.

The Kite Runner- excellent!

That's next on my list. I have heard great things about it, but one person did tell me he was depressed for days after reading it.

I just finished Girls in Trouble and picked up A Million Little Pieces on the suggestion of those of you on the boards here.

You either love it or hate it. The show has very little to do with the book.

I just finished The Kite Runner and loved it! It was one of the most well written books I've read in a long time! Yes, parts of it are depressing, but I felt that it ended with a glimmer of hope. DH read it on my recommendation and DS17 plans to read it too.

I'm currently reading "The Falls" by Joyce Carol Oates - thought it would be interesting since I grew up in that area. It is very dark and depressing and I can't wait to be finished with it.

Next up is "A Million Little Pieces" based on the recommendations here. I also just purchased the first book in the Outlander series - not sure if I'll like it, but worth a try.

So many books and so little time....

i just finished a million little pieces by james frey. anyone who has read that, are you reading my friend leonard? is it a sequel? anyone with any info?

I've been enjoying audio books during my 40 minute commute to work, so I can read 2 books at the same time. I'm listening to "At First Sight" by Nicholas Sparks and reading "A Gathering Place" byThomas Kincade.

I just finished "The Cat who dropped a Bombshell" I love love love Lilian Jackson Braun's tales of Mr Q and his 2 siamese. They are light lovely reads. A murder and a mystery to be solved by Mr Q and his 2 cats. Lots of small town goings on but so endearing.

Next is Wicked, saw the show but I think the book will be better !!

If you get the opportunity, read Frank McCourt's newest book, "Teacher Man: A Memoir." I think you'll like it. :paw:

Let's check in after the holidays and see what the DIS'ers are reading. I'm just starting a new book, "Ireland" by Frank Delaney. It's a fictionalized history of Delaney's native country. So far, it's a very good read. :paw:

I am reading "The Book of Dis" :teeth:

Seriously - I dont get into fiction at all. I enjoy newspapers, news articles, news magazines and of course, my girly-mags (Marie Clare, Allure, etc)

I did read Disney War - interesting. But that was over the summer. :sunny:

Kite Runner - and as everyone else has said, it it fabulous!
I'm also reading Surviving the Applewhites aloud to my class at school.

I also recently read Devil in the White City. This book is crazy good - I would HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend it to everyone. It is one of those books that when you're finished you don't think you can read anything else because it was so fantastic! (Okay, maybe i'm a little prejudiced seeing as it takes place in Chicago and I'm from Chicago. :) )
