What are your favorite Stocking Stuffers?

Ok, here is a totally dumb question....but I'm clueless! I keep hearing about chocolate oranges here, and on another thread and its got me curious.....
What is this? Who makes it, and were can I look for one? I like this idea in lieu of a real orange!

Terry's makes the chocolate oranges. They also have a raspberry one, mint and a snowball one.

My favorite things to give AND recieve in stockings are toothbrushes, lotions, deodorant, perfume/cologne, candy, pez dispensers, scratch off lotto tickets, new gloves etc

Ditto! Those are right along the lines of what we give too. I also like to put in cute socks, chap stick, candy & sometimes fruit. We usually to always get apples & oranges in them from my grandparents. They had really cute soda bottles lip glosses at the Target $1 spot - Diet Cherry Pepsi, Dr. Pepper, etc. shaped like little cans.

If you have a Cracker Barrel near you, they have all kinds of unique toys and candies in their gift shop. Last year I got DS a "How to Play Harmonica" gift set. He thought that was pretty neat. They have so many unusual items at reasonable prices.

,a bottle of root beer from Cracker Barrel,

Cracker Barrell is the best stocking stuffer resource! You can find the coolest things there.

LOL- I did not notice the previous post! Ha, ha!
Serious good stuff!

I usually put their favorite candy, pencils, pens, pez (ds collects these), a couple of pins from WDW, some of those little puzzle like games. They get to open stuff in their stockings and play with whatever is in there until 9 when they can come get us up.

At my sis's we all have stockings that are 4 ft long. We all try and find funny things to put in there. I do't put anything in my kids or dh since we already did that at home. This year I got my sis some smurf magnets, posted notes, and a shopping list she loved the smurfs when she was a kid. One year I got dbil a pooping deer (poops jelly beans), last year I got dbil and mom's so these key chains that farted and burped. We still play with these too.

I also like to put in cute socks, chap stick, candy & sometimes fruit.

I always buy DH a multi pack of chap stick and two years ago he took me to the side and told me "Hon, you know I don't go through that much chapstick? I have a drawerful upstairs" :rotfl2: Oops. Scratch it off the list for a few years :)

I do give shaving cream, scratch tickets, small GC's like others.

DD8 gets different things each year, depending on what she's into. This year she has lots of American Girl stuff (realize that won't help OP)

I like candy but can't have chocolate this year :( Also xmas ornaments, socks, toothbrush...

Now our kids are grown, when they're both here I like to do a sock for them again. I love all the suggestions shown on this thread, but no one mentioned postage stamps. I like to tuck a book or two in their socks.

Also mascara, knee hi nylons, nail polish/remover, cotton balls, pain reliever, small bottles of tums & any other small thing I can think of.

I'll also tuck 1 item for each kid in there too. So I'm off to Cracker Barrel to see if the restaurant near us has that harmonica set if the weather holds & we don't get too much snow overnight.

I have banned plastic junk from my kids' stockings! I would rather put a few nicer items than a lot of small toys that break easily. This year some of the things my four kids are getting are: card games, paperback books, belts, colored pencils, mini-snowglobes, and pushpins (she's getting a bulletin board from grandma). And they always get a few candies, gum or Tic-Tacs.

DH is getting an I-Tunes gift card, his favorite hard-to-find candy bar, and some cashews that he likes. Not sure if I will get anything in my stocking :sad2: but chocolate is always good!

PHXscuba

Last year everyone got small LED flashlights - always nice to have around in case of emergency. I also do the toothbrush/paste thing and some little candies and blistex.

TJ Maxx also has some great stocking stuffer stuff (small toys, etc.).

I like to put those old fashion hard candies (they come in a rather large container and are usually under $3), those take up a good bit of spaces and are a nice treat because you can only get them around the holidays.

I always give:

  • Lifesaver Storybooks
  • Hershey Kiss filled cane
  • Black coal gum
  • oranges

The rest is dependent on what they like. This year I focused on jewelery for DD12, Hello Kitty for DD10, and Lego for DS8.

I am planning on putting the following items in my kids stockings this year:

-Chapstick
-chocolate coins
-giant hershey kiss (I only buy the huge ones at christmas)
-nail polish (for DD13)
-tooth brushes
-key chain (something cutesy for DD sports for DS)
-I-tunes Gift card for DD
-sports trading cards for DS
-chewing gum
-underwear
-socks
-lotto scratch offs (I only let them do scratch offs at Christmas -2 years ago DD won $100)
-pens
-small school supplies (hi-lighters, scented erasers etc.)
-hair clips for DD
-sidewalk chalk
-books

*and anything else that is small and catches my eye

My mil made my kiddos beautiful counted-cross-stitch stockings years ago but boy are the very large so they take alot to fill. DH and I do not have stocking but extra candy and whatever are left on the hearth under the stocking for everyone to share so we get something that way.

Things in our stockings...

personal care items - razors, shaving cream, shampoo, lotions
lip gloss or chapstick
candy
Little Debbie holiday snacks
socks
hair accessories
beverages (used to be glass coke or root beer bottles, now it is Starbucks bottles for the older ones)
Small stuffed toy - beanie baby type
Special pens and/or note pads
whatever I've collected on clearance over the year that is small

This year I found holiday Rice Crispy Treats for free after a sale and my coupons so everyone is getting lots of those. The youngest is getting Disney and My Little Pony fruit snacks because they are a treat around here and I got them for about $.60/box. No razors this year because I didn't find any deals. I also now do one for oldest's sig. other so that is a new experience. I try to make them all similar but with the big age difference we have it is difficult sometimes.

I always stock up on snack size candy after Halloween and they get whatever I was able to get along with one of their favorite candy bars. I saw Walgreens has some that I need on sale this week so that will be the final stocking item I pick up.

Basically stockings at our home reflect whatever was free after rebate, coupon or on clearance over the past year!

My kids are older but these things are staples in the stocking.
chapstick
gum
toothbrush
undies and/or socks
perfume/cologne
silly string is a must in our house
I also go to the $5.00 below store and they always have a bunch of things to throw in a stocking.

I have also included gift certificates to Dunkin Donuts, starbucks, best buy, itunes, etc.

I LOVE stockings. I spend more time and care on them than I do on the "real" gifts!

For DS7, he is getting mini lego sets, the Night at the Museum 2 DVD, candy, a pen I found that writes in invisible ink and has a blacklight attached, toothbrush/paste, and some of those Japanese eraser thingies.

DD5 is getting a webkin (one she lost while we were on vacation this year, that Santa "found" and saved for her), a Snow White Blu-ray, candy, pen and journal, toothbrush/paste, and some Japanese erasers.

DH is getting gift cards for Dunkin Donuts, some candy that is hard to find, toothbrush/paste and boxers.

BUT, my most favorite stocking this year is for the new baby-to-be. :cloud9: I will be 15 weeks pregnant on Christmas, and my kids still do not know. So I bought a new stocking that is not hanging yet, and it will be filled with baby toys, pacifiers, onesies, a "big brother" and a "big sister" bib, baby wash and lotion, etc. I cannot WAIT to see the kids' faces when they figure it all out!!!!!

In my house DH, DS19 and DS16 get a roll of duct tape! Different colors, they use it all year long! :cool1: They are also getting large boxes of bandaids as they are always working in the garage and cutting something....;)

I always go to the car care aisle to look for things for DH & DS stockings. DH gets a new chamois each year and loves it. Also, air fresheners, car wash stuff, wheel spray, disposable wipes, etc. They have some cool gadgets too. You know men & their cars! :drive:

This is the neatest idea...they are going to be THRILLED! Congratulations to you and your family this Christmas.:santa:
